Esplanade Zagreb Hotel

Zagreb|1.58km from HT Museum of Post and Telecommunications
We were so looking forward to spending our last night in Croatia at this historic hotel. Upon arrival, we were greeted right away by the concierge, who took our bags and shown to a seat for checking in. Surprisingly, the young girl at reception was abrupt and indifferent, while we did notice that all the other reception clerks were engaged and friendly. We had booked a Superior King Room, and requested an upper floor with a view, but were disappointed to be given a 2nd floor interior room. That said, we certainly understand that not all room requests can be accommodated and the room was quite lovely. Unfortunately, however, there was a wedding reception in the hotel's ballroom that evening, which our room overlooked, and the dance music continued into the early hours of the morning, 3:30am. Other than getting very little sleep that night the room was beautiful, with a large washroom, and a king bed with comfortable pillows. We appreciated the thoughtful addition of glasses (beer, champagne and wine) and a corkscrew. The location was perfect for visiting the charming old town of Zagreb, and we enjoyed a drink at the bar as well as coffee on the lovely terrace the following morning. We didn't have time for breakfast, but it looked wonderful. Our checkout was a much more pleasant experience, with a very friendly reception clerk. I would recommend to anyone wishing to stay at this hotel to ask about events booked in the ballroom, or to insist on an outside view room. Note that we stayed on a Saturday, which would typically be the night for wedding receptions.

Please ask Ctrip to know the price of taxi from the airport in advance, and the reply is 20 euros. Check with the airport taxi driver when you get on the bus. The price is 150 local currency. When I arrived at the apartment, the driver misrepresented me for 250. When I was arguing with the driver, the apartment attendant came. I said that I consulted you in advance and said it was 20 Euros. The attendant actually said that it is the price from the hotel to the airport. The airport is more expensive. The impression of this place was worse at that time! The room is located on the fifth floor of an old apartment, which is said to be 80 years old. The whole building is for tourists. The corridor is dark, so you have to find the switch yourself. After entering the door, the waiter asked to swipe his card and took a calculator like stuff. Due to the previous experience of being corrupted, we still paid cash. When I came back at night, I found that the door of the small balcony could not be locked. Looking for a waiter, I didn't say that I would come, I contacted Ctrip, and finally came! After it was locked, a small gift of 8 euros was given to the waiter. The toilet is not strong enough, and the paper is always there. The rooms are like old-fashioned apartments in Shanghai, with a lot of furnishings by the previous owner. The room is quite dark, if we can cancel the reservation, we won't live for a day! The service is completely absent, check-in and check-out must be booked in advance. In the design of one bedroom and two halls, a bed is added to the living room.

Hotel Jadran
4.2/583 Reviews
Jadran is centrally located so walking to many restaurants and sites is practical. Also, the tram system runs by the front door and stops are close by. Rooms are OK, clean and relatively convenient. The elevator is ancient and slow. If someone fails to close the door completely, your room is converted to a 5th floor walk up until the situation is corrected. Breakfast is adequate but not really worth its cost. The staff is friendly and helpful. Limited parking is available on premises and essential if you are driving.

I recommend this hotel as it is very well placed to wander around Zagreb. It is clean, very good breakfast and the staff not just friendly but very helpful. When you have had a wonderful holiday it is always easy to write a good review but my review is based upon yes a lovely holiday but it had to be cut short by five days - I got quite ill and had to return to London. The response by staff could not have been better or more kind. Not only did they help me get organised to leave but they also waived the cost of the 5 days. They did not have to do this but chose to help and support me. So I cannot speak more highly of this Hotel and its staff. And thank them so very much for making this difficult time more manageable fr me. So this review in not simple about the physical attributes of this very well placed hotel but evolves from the leadership and priorities of the Hotel and staff to fundamentally serve its customers. Many thanks

Just spot on from cleanliness, design, indeed felt luxury, in past visited high end hotels like esplanade and the truth is this is mini me of that 🤣, great ppl family owned, Damir one of the owners was so kind to help me and guide through my stay whatever needed. Center is 10 min away walking , yet you are in very quiet area you can have a great sleep, breakfast included and to not forget you have mini spa. Everyday you just need to let them know before going out if you need any extra towels or sheets , it would be done in a giff, for the price I recommend this place to anyone.
Doma Zagreb Aparthotel

We were overwhelmed with the space, design and comfort of this little home. The hosts were like family from the first minute till we left. The proximity to downtown ( less than 10 min walk) made our visits n dropping home so easy. The big windows brought in the gorgeous sun light in the space. Though in a Main Street, it was utterly quiet. Zagreb is a safe place to visit and a heaven for the foodies and party sceners!! Once you come here, you will always return. Thanks Doma team for all your kindness. ❤️
The Dots Hostel

Good location close to the main square and large shady park. It's a very busy street but this room was on the back side and quiet, they may not even have any rooms on the street side. This was a private room with a double bed and shared bath. Shared bath was small where the sink is but shower is roomy. Always was clean, and shared by only a couple of rooms. Didn't see the dorm rooms. There are also private rooms with private bath offered. At the time of this visit an organized breakfast wasn't offered but cold cereal and fruit was available 24/7 in the common kitchen, and instant coffee 24/7. The espresso machine required a staff member to operate and the desk isn't staffed except during the day generally. There's a sitting area with couch and chair and a dining area with tables and chairs. There was no air conditioner in this room and it was unusually hot in Zagreb during the stay. At night with the windows open it was comfortable, but very warm otherwise in the room during the day. Very nice owners.

Review for Kliki studio apartment The location was good, 1 mins walk to the tram stop and about 8-10 to the train station. The studio room is well appointed, with a comfy couch, small table, bed and kitchen. The kitchen had a microwave, dishwasher, kettle fridge etc. There was a small supermarket one corner down. You only receive the code for apartment at 3 pm and check out is 10am. They is no bag storage available at the location. The train station has lockers for €2. Would stay here again as it was a very comfortable space for a good price. .
