Stayed for two nights. The room facilities in the main building are relatively new, and the balcony is larger than that of the building near the swimming pool. It is also much more convenient to go to the bar without walking too far. The swimming pool is clean and sanitary. I spent two very comfortable nights here.

The hotel hasn't done any maintenance in the rooms in years. Our room smelled like mold, and humidity. The shower kept changing temperature, sign of a bad water heater, and had sewage smell coming from the drainage. On our first night, the light switch in the bathroom started smoking and doing sparks everywhere - if we hadn't been there to call the reception right away, it would have been a severe fire hazard. The location is quite good as it is right on the lake, and Is a nice walk in the morning. The cleaners woke us up at 6.30 AM because they were slamming doors and screaming. I think this hotel is a 3star and not 4

Decent clean stay, and good value for the money. Room was small and tidy, clean bathroom, quite nice modern style overall with apparent concrete wall finish ( cool if you ask me and unexpected ). Staff was friendly and helpful, only thing was that the room was direclty in front of the elevator and it was noisy. In the early morning there are monkeys on the balcony searching for food so better not leave the door open.

Our least popular hotel stay in Sri Lanka. We checked in for 4 nights and needed to ask for a room change the following day given the toilet smelt and slowly kept flooding the bathroom floor. That problem clearly pre-existed, but given most people only stay a night, It wasn't something that was high on the hotels priority list to address. The coaches come and go carrying 55-70 year old Europeans and Chinese, and they only stay a night. The level of service at this hotel wasn't a great experience, with reception needing management attention. There were exceptions (pool guy and luggage porter were both lovely). The most frustrating thing about this hotel is that they should be rocking it. It's a great location, nice pool and a good setting, but that's where it stops. The rooms and restaurant are physically tired. Food was pretty average bordering poor despite being plentiful in choice. They had live music playing at night, which was so 'live' that it sent us to sleep early two nights in a row. Great idea, terrible execution, and that is pretty much how we would sum up the place. It's no surprise that the hero promotional shot used by the hotel to market it's hotel is the photo of the view from the swimming póol to Lions Rock. Sadly, that's the only hero experience to be found at this hotel.

A must-stay hotel in Sri Lanka. The pool view is invincible. The design is excellent. The whole hotel is built on the mountain. It is very beautiful during the day and night. Breakfast bar under Ambulance Tata. Every service staff at the hotel is very good. Patience and serious push!

Nice hotel with a great view over the river. Some of the furniture in the rooms are a bit dated and could do with some DIY. The room lighting could be improved and the odour inside the washroom should be better managed. Beds were comfy, rooms were very spacious and the facilities in the hotel were good. Food was tasty and had a wide variety.

There are many hotels and B&Bs on this hilltop, so the view is naturally good; the walkway is a bit musty, but the room is ok; the breakfast buffet is ok; the seafood at the rooftop dinner is not good, the shrimp is frozen; the rich people go out to walk the elephants in the morning, and prepare fruits when checking out, so that you can feed the elephants if you encounter them, which is quite interesting

The hotel is very close to Lion Rock. You can see Lion Rock from the swimming pool, and the entire hotel is spread among towering woods with towering ancient trees. The environment is comfortable. There is a pool outside the door of each room, which is also a feature, but there are mosquitoes🦟. The food in the hotel is, well, edible. If possible, it is recommended to eat at the restaurant street 500 meters away. There are many excellent choices. Service, if the tip is big enough. Here, the front desk staff is very aggressive in not giving change. Although this number is not a big deal for tourists, I feel very different when I tip and when my change is deducted. Maybe because skin color is less popular. Because this is a Western world? have no idea.

MMuhammad Irsyad Bin ZainiTitle: A Tranquil Oasis in the Heart of Sri Lanka - Amaya Hill Hotel Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ From the moment I set foot in the enchanting Amaya Hill Hotel in Sri Lanka, I was transported to a realm of unparalleled luxury and serenity. Nestled amidst the lush greenery of the Kandy hills, this hidden gem offers an experience that is nothing short of magical. The first thing that caught my eye was the breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The hotel's strategic location provides guests with an uninterrupted vista of nature's beauty, creating a sense of peace and tranquility that is hard to find elsewhere. The sight alone is worth the visit. Amaya Hill Hotel effortlessly combines modern elegance with traditional charm. The architecture is a blend of contemporary design and Sri Lankan aesthetics, creating a harmonious atmosphere that resonates throughout the property. The attention to detail is impeccable, from the intricately designed lobby to the thoughtfully decorated rooms. Speaking of rooms, the accommodations at Amaya Hill are nothing short of luxurious. Spacious, well-appointed, and equipped with all the amenities one could desire, the rooms offer a perfect sanctuary for relaxation. The comfortable beds ensure a restful night's sleep, and waking up to the breathtaking sunrise from the large windows is a treat in itself. The hotel's culinary offerings are a true delight for the senses. The restaurants showcase the best of Sri Lankan and international cuisine, prepared with precision and passion. Each dish is a culinary masterpiece, and the attentive staff adds to the overall dining experience. Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy a romantic dinner under the stars at one of the outdoor dining venues – an experience that will linger in your memory. One of the standout features of Amaya Hill Hotel is its commitment to wellness and rejuvenation. The spa facilities are world-class, offering a range of treatments that blend ancient healing practices with modern techniques. A dip in the infinity pool, surrounded by the serene landscape, is a perfect way to unwind and soak in the beauty of nature. The attentive and courteous staff at Amaya Hill Hotel deserves special mention. Their genuine warmth and eagerness to make every guest feel at home truly set this establishment apart. The level of service is exemplary, making it clear that the staff is dedicated to ensuring a memorable stay for every guest. In conclusion, Amaya Hill Hotel in Sri Lanka is a true haven for those seeking a blend of luxury, natural beauty, and genuine hospitality. GGuest UserThe Good The standout feature of The Coffee Bungalow is undoubtedly its staff, particularly Adrian, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Everyone we encountered was attentive and genuinely warm, making us feel well cared for. The food was another highlight—delicious and thoughtfully prepared. A particularly nice touch was when they packed us a complimentary to-go lunch for our train journey out of Kandy, which was a pleasant and unexpected gesture. The Bad The lack of air conditioning was a notable downside, especially given Kandy’s humidity. While the property has a charming colonial feel, the absence of a solid door between the bedroom and bathroom was an odd design choice. Although the toilet and shower do have louvered doors, privacy is somewhat compromised. Another issue was the challenging entry system—we found ourselves locked out one night, which was frustrating and inconvenient. The Ugly Unfortunately, the biggest drawback was the ant problem. While some level of bugs is to be expected in a tropical setting, the sheer number of ants, particularly in the bathroom but also in the bedroom, was hard to ignore. It definitely impacted our overall comfort. Overall, The Coffee Bungalow has a lot of charm and some truly wonderful hospitality, but there are a few quirks and inconveniences that might not suit every traveler. If you’re prepared for a bit of rustic charm and can handle the lack of AC and privacy, the warm service and great food may make up for the downsides.

AAleksei ZobovThe hotel is nice, spacious beautiful room at check in we were treated to a refreshing juice. There is a big pool on the grounds and a big jacuzzi with hot water in the room.  Minuses of the hotel: Far from the attractions. Taxi from the center only go there for the price of pick me x2. Hotel taxi are 3 times more expensive. There are no stores and restaurants near the hotel, so inside the hotel prices for food x3, Also after 6pm it is dangerous to be outside because elephants are walking around. Now let's talk about the premium status and the five races. In 7 years of traveling, this is the first hotel that did not have a bathrobe, slippers and toothbrush and toothpaste in the room. The plumbing in the shower leaks, and the doors creak so much that you could call the spirits at night. Regarding the attention to the customer. I mentioned my upcoming birthday in conversation with the manager, but this fact was not used in any way to show any form of attention from the hotel. This is a huge miscalculation on the part of the staff at a premium hotel. We also had a late departure and our request to delay in the hotel for a couple of hours was refused. This was not due to the arrival of new customers, as the manager offered to extend our stay for a fee. For future customers this fact may be decisive in their choice. In general, the hotel is not bad, but the service and flexibility of the staff, as well as individual approach to customers, does not correspond to the premium level and requires improvement.

GGuest UserThe owners and employees at this hotel are so, so lovely. Unfortunately their hotel is not. I almost feel catfished as many of the photos highlighted the bar and pool party atmosphere. This was not the case - the pool was a decent size but in the shade and I actually didn’t see anyone in it. The pool party drinking shots I highly suspect were perhaps not a genuine source. The same goes for the bar which is massive and attended to by several lovely young, bored gentlemen as both times I popped up (once for dinner) I was the only patron. Again no party atmosphere or even people - which is a shame as it is a big venue. Fortunately next door was another venue for some decent cocktails and music which saved the boredom somewhat. The bedroom was a decent size with a small fridge (but didn’t work), the bathroom was small, felt dirty, no hand soap or soap for the shower (apart from leftover previous occupants - and that was gross). The pressure was poor making showering difficult and there was plaster on the floor from some damage - not cleaned up. The bed was massive and comfortable with air conditioning and a fan so sleep was good. Finally, and to repeat, the staff were lovely. Very hospitable and the location is about a ten minute walk to the Sacred Tooth Temple and Kandy Lake. So great location. Would I stay there again - no. Would I pop in to say hello to the owners and next door for a cocktails - possibly!

SSHAOPENGThe location of this hotel is a bit hard to find, but it was really unexpected after entering the hotel. The hotel staff is very good, there will be drinks and drinks, the dinner is really good, and then the breakfast will be prepared in advance in the morning. The only downside is that the room is small, but the scenery outside is very good.

GGuest UserWe are family of three. Two adults and one child. We were given 2 single beds. My husband and child had to sleep on the floor. We couldn't put the beds together as it was fixed. Couldnt get another room as they were full. The room was overdone. Two dressing tables , two big arm chairs, dining table & chairs etc., big spacious room but too many furniture making it uncomfortable. When we informed the front office manager , he said it wont happen next time. Well, we are not too sure if qe wont to stay here though.

GGuest UserRecommended, the location is very good, opposite the Lion Rock, and there are many food and drink options next to the hotel. The lobby decoration is very distinctive, and the room is not big but comfortable and clean. There are not many types of breakfast, but it is a pleasure to sit in the beautiful lobby to eat. And the price matches!

GGuest UserOur stay in the villa yea fields was a real paradise. It’s impossible to describe how peaceful it is, how relaxing and inspiring. We have spent 2 most lovely days in this villa thanks to the genuine kindness of the hosts and villa’s situation. Located in the very middle of the tea fields, you can not get enough of this view. Breakfast is very rich and carefully prepared, the room is spacious and clean. The hosts are the most wonderful people. We even had a chance to have a private visit to the tea fields which was definitely the aim of our journey to Sri Lanka. Highly recommend for your stay in the peace and unspoiled nature !
