Stand Alone, Exquisite Pagoda | Wenfeng Pagoda in Anyang, Henan

【Seeing Central Plains·Anyang·Wenfeng Towering】Arriving in the ancient city of Anyang, yes, the small Anyang is one of the eight ancient capitals of China. In history, the Shang Dynasty, Cao Wei, Later Zhao, Ran Wei, Former Yan, Eastern Wei, and Northern Qi successively built their capitals in Anyang, hence the name 'Seven Dynasties Ancient Capital'. It is also the location of the World Cultural Heritage—the late Shang Dynasty capital 'Yinxu', the hometown of oracle bone inscriptions, and Yuan Shikai is also buried in Anyang. However, we did not go to Yinxu, the treasures unearthed from the Tomb of Fu Hao are now in the Henan Museum and the National Museum. We went to the iconic building of Anyang today—the super beautiful Wenfeng Pagoda. Wenfeng Pagoda was built in the Qing Dynasty, with a special shape, divided into five layers, increasing in size from bottom to top, umbrella-shaped, which is extremely rare in ancient pagodas. Coupled with the red tower body and green glazed tiles, it is simply stunningly beautiful. There are also eight exquisite brick reliefs at the bottom of the tower, which are simply too beautiful! Tips: The eight corners of the tower are decorated with cloud dragon pillars. There is a door on each of the four sides of the lower part of the tower, the south side is the real door, and the rest are fake doors. Above the arch door, there is a brick carving of two dragons playing with a pearl. There are coiled dragon pillars surrounded by huge dragons on all eight corners, with iron chains and shackles added, which are very dynamic. Between the eight dragon pillars, there are eight brick relief images of Buddhist stories. These reliefs are vivid, lifelike, natural in posture, and lifelike, they are rare art treasures.
