Nice park in the city Center
Beautiful park located right in the centre of Fukuoka.Very easy to get to by subway. A very public place for local people and tourist to spend their day of weekdays or weekend.most important it free admission.
I took about 1 hour to walk around the park and to the tiny island in the middle. There are peddling swan boat available for rent, cafes available too. You can walk your dogs easily here.
Will highly recommended a visit here to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the park which offer .

Canal city has a good mix of different shops to suit different tastes. There is a cinema. A very good selection of food outlets and restaurants. The colourful water fountain has regular shows in the evening. You can also claim your tax back from your shopping here. Great way to do shopping and pick up souvenirs as well as eat yummy food.

The commercial prosperity of the city's old city is mainly concentrated in the historical commercial district named Tenjin and the two places around JR Hakata Station. The Zhongzhou Kawabata area between Tenjin and Hakata Station is historically an industrial area with a very weak commercial atmosphere. Relatively depressed. In order to redevelop the area that is not prosperous, and to integrate the divergent neighborhoods of the Tenjin and Hakata Stations, and to prosper the entire Fukuoka area including the Kawabata area of Nakasu, it is planned to redevelop on the former site of Fukuoka. To build a large-scale comprehensive facility integrating shops, restaurants, business offices, theaters, entertainment, etc., with the aim of promoting the common prosperity of downtown Fukuoka. This is the Canal City of Hakata Water City.
Hakata Canal City is one of the most successful large-scale commercial centers in Japan. It is a successful example of the perfect combination of Japanese planning and American design. It has created a new concept and format of Japan's comprehensive SHOPPING MALL, which has driven Fukuoka and Japan as a whole. The shopping mall provides a landmark model for the development of large-scale integrated commercial facilities in Japan.

Maizuru Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
Cherry Blossoms in Maizuru Park, Fukuoka Prefecture.
Maizuru Park in Fukuoka Prefecture is home to over 1,000 cherry blossom trees. In spring, a variety of cherry blossoms such as Somei Yoshino, weeping cherries, and mountain cherries come into full bloom. Visitors can enjoy the historical ambiance of the Fukuoka Castle walls while flower viewing. Each year, when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, a lively cherry blossom festival is held. The park's over 1,000 cherry trees are particularly elegant when illuminated at night. During the day, there are various food stalls, making it a bustling spot. At night, the lighting up of the trees offers a chance to admire the enchanting night cherry blossoms.
Flowers bloom in Fukuoka, where the city's dreams of yesteryear mingle with the blossoming of spring in Maizuru Park
🌱 First Visit to Maizuru Park 🏞️
In the gradually warming March breeze, I stepped into the story-filled Maizuru Park. Beneath the cherry trees, history and nature weave together vivid tapestries. This place is not just the ruins of Fukuoka Castle, but also the most beautiful backdrop for spring.
🏰 The Millennium Echoes of Fukuoka Castle 🎎
Maizuru Park, once the site of Fukuoka Castle, still has its walls standing tall, narrating the vicissitudes of history. Wandering between the stone walls, one can almost hear the neighing of warhorses, the pledges of samurai, and the echoes of history gently reverberating in every corner.
🌸 The Romantic Moments of Cherry Blossoms in Full Bloom 📷
Each cherry blossom tree proclaims the arrival of spring with its blooms, and the delicate petals are particularly dazzling against the azure sky. When taking photos, I particularly enjoy capturing the harmonious coexistence of flowers and people, like in this picture, sitting quietly by the lake, enjoying a moment of peace.
🌤️ The Spring Light and Shadows of Fukuoka 🌿
Sitting on a bench in the park, the view before me is refreshing to the soul. Model boats float on the lake, and as the breeze blows, ripples dance across the water, while the graceful koi fish swim leisurely in the clear water, bringing a unique tranquility to Fukuoka.
🤸 The Vibrant Park Life 🚶♂️
Maizuru Park is not only a great place for flower viewing but also a spot for locals to exercise and relax. One can almost feel the vitality of the runners, who sweat along the lengthy cherry blossom path, leaving behind the footprints of their youth.
🌼 Encountering the Confession of Spring 💖
Under the cherry trees full of spring, I look up at the pink sea of flowers, and my heart can't help but surge with love for this season. A gust of spring wind brings falling petals, like nature's tender confession to the city.
Maizuru Park, a treasure filled with history and nature, whether it's the cherry blossoms illuminated by the spring light or the Fukuoka Castle in the river of history, inspires respect. It's a place worth visiting and revisiting, where every corner is filled with stories and the power of life. Next time you're in Fukuoka, don't forget to find your own spring story here.

Fukuoka's cherry blossoms were the highlight of my spring vacation in Japan! 🌸 Located throughout the city, these ethereal blooms transformed Fukuoka into a pink paradise. Best of all, enjoying the cherry blossoms was free of charge, making it accessible to everyone. As I strolled along the banks of the Naka River and through Maizuru Park, I was mesmerized by the beauty of the cherry trees in full bloom. #CherryBlossomMagic and #SpringSplendor at every turn! Nearby, attractions like Fukuoka Castle and Ohori Park offered additional opportunities to enjoy the blossoms while taking in the city's history and scenery. This shrine was recommended to us by the tourist information advisor. We are so appreciative of her tips. We were wide eyed with wonder the moment we arrived there, our attention captured by the 10 meters tall giant float decorated with interesting traditional figures and scenes. At least one hour is needed to explore the grounds and examine the many fascinating items of interest which includes a well surrounded by three cranes - there is a legend that water of this well grants longevity and eternal youth.

The modern Fukuoka is the largest city in Kyushu developed on the shoreline-dependent port, but earlier on, the banks of the Hakata Canal were the center of the region.
It is not surprising that the oldest upper-end commercial street in Hakata, centered on the Kushida Shrine, is surrounded by historical museums gathered around it.
Kutada Shrine is the Hato-General Guardian Temple built in the last Heian period in ancient Japan. Later, Toyotomi Hideyoshi revival Hakata was once again carried forward.
Fukuoka citizens who believe in Shintoism regard the Kushida Shrine as an important shrine.
Putian will welcome the most popular Hakata Gion Festival in Kyushu in July each year. Many tourists will come here to visit one of the most exciting scenes of the festival: Following the mountains. In each of the 7 different genres, 26 men and women dressed in cloaks and robes are armed with mysterious legends and ancient samurai figures, pavilions and flowers, and the gorgeous mountains are surrounded by crowds. In unison, he shouted the number and went into the Putian Shrine for a week, then went on the street to start a competition for speed and strength.
This huge mountain is displayed in the Putian Shrine, and you can enjoy the exquisite structure without catching up with the festival.
The serene and beautiful Kizuhiko Shrine!
Devotees of Shintoism consider it an important shrine for worship. The historic Kizuhiko Shrine is the main venue for the grand Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival held every July in Kyushu. During this time, many visitors come to witness the most exciting event of the festival, the 'chasing Yamakasa,' where 26 people carry the decorated Yamakasa floats and dash through the streets, creating a lively and spectacular scene. You can admire the colorful Yamakasa that are usually only displayed during the Gion festival within the shrine, as well as the ancient ginkgo tree symbolizing Kizuhiko Shrine, which has a history of a thousand years.
