Shiba Dong Village

Shiba Dong Village, an administrative village under the jurisdiction of Shuanglong Town, Huayuan County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province, is a traditional Chinese village. It is located in the southwest of Shuanglong Town, bordering Shuanglong Village in the east, Zhangdao Village in the south, Paidaba Village in the west, and Ma'an Village in the north. The village governs 4 natural villages, 6 villagers' groups, and covers an area of 13.8 square kilometers. Shiba Dong Village is located in the easternmost part of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and belongs to the Karst landform development area. The terrain of the village is mainly mountains, canyons, and caves, with an average altitude of 700 meters and a relatively high terrain. The main entrance of Shiba Dong Village is set up in Feichong Village. The village and the environment are integrated. The center of the village is divided into three fork roads, leading to different directions. The roads in the village are accessible in all directions, like a fan-shaped eight diagrams. There are scenic spots such as Liantai Mountain Forest Farm, Huangma Rock, Wulong Skyline, Bei'er Mountain, and Qiantian Pillar near the village. On December 9, 2016, Shiba Dong Village was announced as the fourth batch of traditional Chinese villages by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Ministry of Culture, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Land and Resources, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the National Tourism Administration. In the late Qing Dynasty, local villagers established Lizizhai and Feichongzhai. During the Republic of China, Dangrongzhai and Zhuzizhai were added.
