Zhoukou Shahe Bay Wetland Park adheres to the principle of ecological priority, integrates a people-oriented tour experience, opens up the interface between the park and the city, increases interactive participation in the landscape, integrates science education, and creates a city public space that combines ecology, ornamental, and science education. It is the first and only national urban wetland park in Zhoukou. Its successful creation not only has important significance for pollution control in the Central Plains region, but also serves more than 10 million people in Zhoukou, which has important social significance. Shahe Bay Wetland Park is located in Chuanhui District, Zhoukou City, Henan Province, in the riverside area of the Shayin River Basin, covering an area of 45 hectares. The original site was a discarded thermal power plant ash pit. Due to the accumulation of pollutants such as coal ash for many years, the ecological environment of the site urgently needs to be resolved. Because the energy structure of Henan Province is relatively single, it basically relies on thermal power generation for power supply. The pollution problem brought by thermal power plants is a representative problem in the central plains provinces and cities. Zhoukou Shahe Bay Wetland Park, as a demonstration project for pollution control in the Central Plains region, has important significance. Preserve the original site plant community, research the plant structure at the same latitude, screen non-invasive, easy-to-survive plant species, use adaptive plants to "fill in the ecological gap", build a vegetation corridor, improve the natural community structure, widen the wetland edge area, create a breathing wetland, create biodiversity between the annual water level difference, and provide food and diversified habitats for bird foraging.
