🌸 Ultimate cherry blossoms guide in Seoul 🌸
Hopefully this post can convince you to visit Seoul to catch some cherry blossoms - you get to visit cute cafes (some even overlook the flowers), indulge in some retail therapy, and maybe even catch a glimpse of your favourite Kpop idol!
Here is a guide to the best spots to catch the cherry blossom, and capture your next Instagram display photo!
1. Gangchon Rail Park (4/5)
This scenic bike ride brings you across an overwater bridge, winding through barren trees, and this gorgeous line of pink cherry blossoms! A super scenic and romantic activity that you cannot miss!
2. Eden Cherry Blossom Road (6/5)
Located away from the main city, this road of cherry blossom tree doesn’t come with the usual crowds. You get plenty of space to stroll and admire the flowers, and take pictures. Will recommend booking this as part of a day tour to Nami Island if possible.
3. Nami Island (4/5)
Pro tip: Visit the island in the morning, before lunch if possible. At around 10am, you are among the first visitor of Nami Island - you will basically have the entire place to yourself to roam (like a private island!) and snap cherry blossoms pictures without anyone in it! When we left around 12noon the crowd really started to come in and the quiet atmosphere was gone.
4. Seokchon Lake (3/5)
The ring of cherry blossom looks beautiful from the top, but this place is PACKED during the weekends. You will basically be knocking shoulders with the public, but those visiting Lotte World should definitely check this lake out, since they are located in the same area.
5. Garden just off Hongjecheon Waterfall (10/5)
Just off the main centre of Hongdae is this serene man-made waterfall. Follow the dirt path, past running waters, and you will find this wonderful hill where tulips and cherry blossoms co-exist! We spotted mostly locals there - a great little hidden find that you won’t see in most cherry blossom guides!
6. Yeonnam-dong (3/5)
Make plans to visit this hip area for its numerous cute cafes, then stay to check out this line of cherry blossoms! Cafes like Margaret even has a balcony that overlooks the pink tree - great vibes while sipping on a cup of coffee.
7. Yeouido Cherry Blossom Festival (4/5)
Probably the most famous viewing spot in Seoul - and it shows. The amount of people here is insane, but it also has the highest concentration of pink trees (in my opinion). After admiring the flowers, you can also pop by the Han River located just next to it and enjoy a bowl of cup noodles. Or sit and take in the city skyline.
8. Gyeongbokgung Palace (2/5)
You might probably be already visiting this must-see attraction in Seoul. And deep within the palatial ground lies a small line of cherry blossom; not the most impressive, but still worth checking out when you are dressed up in hanbok - makes for a perfect photo!

Discovering Seoul's Cherry Blossom Hotspots
#cherryblossom2024
During the spring season, many travellers flock to Korea and Japan to witness the ephemeral beauty of pink cherry blossoms in full bloom. When the cities are blanketed in delicate pink hues, the scene becomes truly spectacular. I count myself privileged to have had the opportunity to visit Seoul during the cherry blossom season and immerse myself in its enchanting scenery. It's an experience that feels almost surreal, witnessing the juxtaposition of modern high-rise buildings against the backdrop of nature's resplendent beauty.
Among the plethora of breathtaking sights, there are three places in Seoul that I highly recommend visiting during spring to witness the cherry blossoms in all their glory.
Gyeongbokgung Palace
As one of Seoul's most iconic landmarks, Gyeongbokgung Palace offers an unparalleled setting to admire cherry blossoms. The palace grounds are adorned with these delicate blooms, framing the majestic architecture with a touch of ethereal charm.
Tips: Consider renting a Hanbok from nearby rental shops. Wearing Hanbok adds to the experience and makes for stunning photos against the backdrop of cherry blossoms and the palace.
Seokchon Lake
Nestled near the renowned Lotte World, Seokchon Lake transforms into a mesmerising sea of pink during the cherry blossom season. The area surrounding the lake bursts with vibrant hues, providing an exquisite backdrop for photo-taking. Whether strolling along its banks or admiring the blossoms from afar, Seokchon Lake offers a captivating experience for all visitors.
Tips: Seokchon Lake can get quite crowded during peak cherry blossom season, especially on weekends and evenings. Go early in the morning to avoid the crowd.
Cheonggyecheon Stream
Tucked away in the heart of Seoul, Cheonggyecheon Stream offers a tranquil escape amidst the bustling cityscape. Lined with cherry blossom trees, the stream creates a serene and picturesque setting, perfect for a leisurely stroll or quiet contemplation. The sight of cherry blossoms gently cascading over the stream's banks adds a touch of magic to this urban oasis, making it a must-visit destination during the spring season.
Tips: The best way to explore the stream is on foot, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes because it is quite a long stroll.
These three destinations not only showcase the natural beauty of cherry blossoms but also offer a unique perspective on Seoul's cultural and urban landscape during this enchanting time of year.
Golden nigh view at Gyeongbukgong Palace
The night view is stunning and the night feeling is very different from visiting during the day. I would highly recommend it if you happen to be in Seoul when they open during the night. If you are visiting in the day, please wear a handbok to immerse youself into the history and significance of the palace. #freehotelstay #gyeongbokgung #서울 #首爾 #seoul #yolo #culture #palace

aurelia.seraphine.nightingale The iconic Gyeongbokgung Palace 🇰🇷
Gyeongbokgung is one of the largest palaces built by the Joseon dynasty.
We went here January 7, 2024. It was freezing cold but worth it! We rented hanbok at hanboknam so we could enter the palace for free. There was a ceremony when we got here but we didn't watch until the end.
We took photos real quick then went home.
Getting there:
You can get off at Gyeongbokgung Station line 3 (Exit 5) or get off at Gwanghwamun Station line 5 (Exit 2). The palace is just a short walk from either of these stations.

The changing guard ceremony at Gyeongbokgung palace is taking place everyday except for Tuesday at 10am and 2pm. This changing guard ceremony area no need to pay for admission fee. So you can come over and witness it for yourself. There is no dress code to enter Gyeongbokgung palace too. It is better you wear proper shoes because there is a lot of walking here. You can alight at Gwanghuamun station and walk over. This place is crowded during the changing guard ceremony and you can choose to stand anywhere because it is a large marching area for the guards.

Gyeongbokgung Palace, which creates an antique atmosphere with the combination of natural beauty and traditional houses, makes you fall in love with the charm the more you see it. It's great to be able to enjoy such a wonderful view in the city center. I also looked around Jipokjae, a traditional house with Chinese style, and looked around Hyangwonjeong Pavilion in the northern background of Gyeongbokgung Palace and Hyangwonji, a pond, and the atmosphere was really great. Just standing and looking at it made me feel refreshed.

The Jibokjae is a royal library § in Gyeongbokgung Palace, which served as the king's study and a versatile venue for foreign documents exhibitions. For locations of Gyeongbokgung Palace Jibokjae is 1-1 Sejongno, Jongno-gu, Seoul. By Subway Line 3, Gyeongbokgung Station, Exit 5.
The last Royal Palace of Korean History
#helloautumn
Gyeongbokgung Palace is the first palace of Joseon. Gyeongbokgung Palace plays a big role in preserving and developing Korean history and culture and is one of the important symbols of Korean culture. Many foreign tourists come to Gyeongbokgung Palace in September. I think it's great to wear hanbok, take pictures, and experience culture, so I can promote it widely.
It would be great to learn and experience history if you come with your child. You can also watch Gyeongbokgung Palace at night, and if you wear Hanbok, you can enter for free, and you can also use Exit 5 of Gyeongbokgung Station on Line 3 and Exit 2 of Gwanghwamun on Line 5. Gyeongbokgung Palace is a place worth visiting in Seoul where you can heal and feel the history with your family in any time. You can see Gyeongbokgung Palace in Hanbok, take pictures, and open at night as a good destination. I think it will be an experience where you can feel the grand and nobleness of Gyeongbokgung Palace. I hope you enjoy your trip.

🇰🇷 Walk around Gyeongbokgung Palace in Hanbok
#citywalk
Gyeongbokgung Palace (景福宫) is the largest palace out of the five palaces in Seoul. It was constructed at the end of 14th century during the Joseon period. Over the next few hundreds years, the palace was destroyed, abandoned and reconstructed before being torn down during the Japanese occupation. Since 1990, an effort to restore the palace to its former glory has been ongoing.
The palace is a short walk away from Gyeongbokgung subway station Exit 5. We rented Hanbok (Korean traditional costume) at one of the many rental shops nearby before we entered the palace. The rental included basic hairstyling and additional accessories were available at extra cost. The admission to the palace is 3000 won but we got free admission since we were dressed in Hanbok. Therefore it is not surprising to see many visitors walking around the palace dressed in Hanbok. It was a fun and memorable experience for us taking pictures at different parts of the palace.
The palace is closed on Tuesdays. There are a few free guided tours in foreign languages available on certain days of the week.

The museum also showcased some of the old items and fixtures used by the ex president, and some of their relics and artworks as well. The president's residence is also opened for public's with some statues and pavillions showcased to the people.
A weekend chill at a cafe, 33 Market
#timetotravel
Located beside the side gate of Gyeongbukgung, there lies this nice little cafe called 33 Market. It has a nice front and back veranda for those who likes to have an outdoor breeze while sipping his/her coffee. The front side of the cafe has a view directly facing the gate walls of the palace, so it is very comforting sipping coffee while enjoying the nice view and breeze of the surroundings. They also serves several desserts such as Lemon Madelaine and Carrot cakes to pair with the coffee or tea. It is one of the best cafe around and nice to hangout during the weekend.
Excellent Sushi Restaurant at Jongno, Park's Place
#timetotravel
We would like to have some Jaoanese food in Seoul and we came across this outlet further north from the Gyeongbukgung station. There is a huge variety of different Japanese food available in the shop although they specializes in Sushi. We ordered a premium Sushi plate, Unagi rice bowl and a tempura set, and everything tastes excellent with the freshness of seafood and carefully prepared by the chef. We did not burst our budget despite having a scumptios meal at the restaurant, which everything just cost under 100,000 won. We will definitely visit again for any celebrations and occasion.

A never ending palace of wonder 🏰 🤩
The Gyeongbokgung palace is without a doubt the biggest palace complex I’ve seen in my life. The sprawling palace is close to Gyeongbokgung station and is very easily accessible.
The main palace is centered around big gravel squares that help you take in the sheer scale, then as you move through the complex it opens up into stunning greenery and smaller buildings.
The detail within these buildings is mind blowing, the roofs in particular are stunning.
There is a small entrance fee but it’s worth it, you can pay in person or use a multi lingual self serve machine.

The historical beauty of Gyeongbokgung💙
Gyeongbokgung palace is one of the most famous and historical palaces located in Seoul, South Korea.
It's a huge huge palace with multiple gates guarding the main building, with a boundary running in kilometers and with a beautiful architecture!
Some of the architecture was destroyed during wars and is artificially reconstructed.
We were also able to capture a guard changing ceremony at the palace.
In the main palace picture, you can see 2 dragons made of pure gold. In korean history, these dragons symbolize peace and tranquility!!
After the main palace, we witnessed various residential palaces as well.
The rooms were in order of the seniority in position.
Overall, it was a great experience to witness the architecture and historical significance of Gyeongbokgung!
