long neck village in Chiang mai
first you do need to know that you have to pay 300 bhat for the entrance fee. it’s def worth it since there is no other way you’re able to see those tribe people with your own eyes in reality. there are 5 different tribes in this region, the one named Lahu are not here currently due to pandemic. However, there are still 4 tribes left you’re able to visit! and it is really cool to walk around and try to carry this neck thing which weighs 2 kilos! there are also some cafes and souvenir shops in the entrance. the view here is absolutely amazing. but 300 bhat is a lot, depends on what you’re looking for, if you’re not really interested, it’s okay not to go inside
#holidayvacation visited the Karen Long Neck Village in Chiang Rai and it was an awesome experienced. everyone living there was really nice. i’m really glad I went. if you are wondering what is a Karen they are a tribal group who have historically lived in the hills of Myanmar, side of the Thai border and best recognized for their elongated necks.

The Mysterious and Beautiful Long Neck Tribe in Chiang Rai
The visual impact brought by the Long Neck tribe is truly moving when seen in person.
The Long Neck tribe is a matriarchal society where women must take on the responsibility of supporting the family. From a young age, they are required to help with the family's finances, while boys are treated like emperors.
In this small village, girls weave handmade scarves or craft other handicrafts for sale. A little girl, about four or five years old, sits there obediently, posing for photos with tourists, even helping to adjust your clothes and asking you in her broken Chinese to buy their handicrafts. This is their way of life...
If you come to Chiang Mai, I highly recommend you take this trip. You might only come here once in your life, but it is well worth it!
Visiting one of the numerous Karen Long Neck villages in Thailand is one of the most exotic experiences on the planet. The mystery and beauty that sound the tradition of using brass rings for exaggerated jewelry is something better seen in person than in a book. According to their traditional having a long neck is considered beautiful. Even the young kids are adopting to this tradition. They sell handmade clothing and souvenirs. #Thailand #Travel #trip #culture
It was so fascinating and interesting to know about the culture and history of the karen long neck village, the women wear brass rings weighing up to 25 pounds from childhood, starting with four or five, and adding more annually as they acclimate to the increased weight, depressing the chest and shoulders. If you ever heard of them, don't hesitate to come and learn more about them whenever you found yourself in Chiangrai. #wintergetaway

Around Chiang Mai | Long Neck Village
Some things, if you don't see it, I can hardly believe that there is such a picture in this world, just like the Long Neck Village.
People who come to Chiang Mai always spend a day going to Chiang Rai, not only because there are white temples, but also there is a special nation living in them, they are considered to be the longest nation in the world.
The village where they live is very small, not even a village, and the conditions are very simple. They are basically thatched cottages. In the back of the house, the front house is a shop, selling some of their own crafts.
Long Neck Village is the oldest 56 years old, and the copper ring is about 70 cm.
Tour with group or chartered to Qinglai is more convenient
Tickets: 300 baht / person
#, the first to be a refugee from Myanmar who fled to northern Thailand, the number is very rare, gradually decreasing. The name is called the Karen family. In Changnong Village, you can buy handmade cotton scarves, 150-250 baht.
The whole small village is very quiet. There are Aka stalls at the door to do business. The characteristics of the costumes are quite different from those of the Changyang people. Visitors who follow the Chiang Rai line can visit directly. Otherwise, they will pay 300 baht. Unusual tickets. The
Chang Neck family does not recommend large-scale visits. The area available for play is a small part, and it is back to the starting point around a circle.
The life of the tribe is very simple. The front part is the working area of daily weaving, which can be used for taking pictures or taking photos & selling handmade scarves and local coats. The area behind is the weekday living area.
All women in the family began wearing a collar at the age of three or five, and each year added a circle, and they could no longer be removed. The neck relied on the collar for a long time and the weight of the head was severely deformed. They can actually maintain the details of life of all normal people, including wearing them to take a bath. Most women in the
family have a good face. You can choose to take a group photo with them, but it is best to remember to tip, even if it is only 20 baht.
#Where to go to New Years Day
Northern Thailand is a special place, especially in Chiang Rai, which borders Laos and Myanmar. There are both white temples and black temples that make the world a side, and some relatively hidden villages, such as the Long Neck Village. The woman of the Long Neck Village began wearing a copper collar when she was five years old, until she became a squatter. This custom is very strange to outsiders. Some people even say it is cruel, but the locals are used to this life.
The Long Neck is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Northern Thailand. It originated from the Karen ethnic group in Myanmar. It escaped to the Golden Triangle more than 20 years ago. Thailand is called the Ba Dang.
The long-term war has kept the woman in the family from maintaining the traditional custom of wearing a copper ring on the neck for self-defense. They started on the neck from the age of 5 years old and added a ring every year, and up to 25 collars on the neck.
It is said that the weight of the collar has collapsed the women's collarbone, so I feel that the neck is getting longer, so that I think it is beautiful enough. They live entirely on the tourism industry, dress up for money, put a heavy shackle on life, and show the cruel beauty to the world.
