A seaside city you must visit
📍 Qinhuangdao, the only city in China named after a Chinese emperor. It is also a famous coastal tourist resort, known as the backyard of Beijing, mainly consisting of scenic areas such as Nandaihe, Beidaihe, and Shanhaiguan.
You can choose to drive from south to north along the coast , with attractions to check in Anaya Town -> Blue Coast -> Nandaihe Resort -> Beidaihe Pigeon Nest -> Shanhaiguan Laolongtou.
✅ Must experience:
Pigeon Nest Beach, the viewing platform in front of the Yiteng Hotel is the best spot to watch the sunrise. The beach here is calm without waves, more like a bay, with many seagulls inhabiting this area, truly a scene of blue sea and sky.
The Blue Coast Beach has a long coastline, giving a sense of the Gold Coast at a glance. You can also watch the sunrise at the Blue Coast, and if you stay in a hotel with higher floors, it's also a great experience to watch the sunrise.
Shanhaiguan Laolongtou, the eastern starting point of the Great Wall of China, where you can see the unique scenery of the sea, beach, and Great Wall all in one.
🏨 About accommodation:
If you are driving from Beijing or Tianjin, you can stay in Anaya Town on the first day, take a stroll on the beach and visit the Anaya Art Museum, then continue driving north.
Accommodation at the Blue Coast is also good, very close to the beach, just a 5-minute walk away.
If you want to watch the sunrise in Beidaihe, you can stay near Pigeon Nest Beach to enjoy the pleasure of getting up early to watch the sunrise nearby.
Beidaihe is not far from Shanhaiguan, a 50-minute drive, so if you want to visit Shanhaiguan, it is still recommended to stay in Beidaihe at night, where there are many choices for dining, shopping, and accommodation.
🍽 Dining recommendations:
There are many seafood restaurants near Lianfeng Road and Hongshi Road in Beidaihe District, with a wide selection and reasonable prices. That area is also considered a busy commercial street and seafood wholesale market, and at night there is a variety of night markets on Hongshi Road, which are especially good for shopping and buying.
📝 Tips:
Anaya Town currently requires a hotel stay to enter for a visit.
For those who want to fly drones, please note that Anaya is a no-fly zone, Nandaihe has strict control, Pigeon Nest is free to fly, and the Shanhaiguan area is also a no-fly zone.

#Bohai Sea #Qinghuangdao #Hebei #May 2019
The beach is located along the Bohai Sea shoreline of Qinhuangdao City, a touristic coastal city in North China's Hebei Province, 6.4 kilometers in length and an area of 60 hectares. The whole site was in an environmentally and ecologically damaged condition. The coastal sand dunes were heavily eroded, the coastal vegetation was decaying and the beach was deserted and littered. Prior unwise development had destroyed the coastal wetland and left it full of debris. The intention of this project is to rehabilitate the damaged natural environment, restore and unveil to tourists and local residents the beauty of the site while transforming a former degraded beach into an ecologically healthy and aesthetically attractive landscape.
