"Gunma Kusatsu Onsen♨️! So famous! I often heard that a colleague in our company who likes to take a bath comes here every holiday.
I understand! It is even more beautiful in autumn!

CChingSqThe hotel is a bit of a drive from Karuizawa JR Station, about 35 minutes, and there's a toll fee. However, the scenery along the way is beautiful. Shiraito Falls is about 10 minutes away. The hotel parking lot is ample and very convenient.
The hotel rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The hot springs are both indoor and outdoor, with an orange-brown color and a mild odor. Unfortunately, the outdoor hot springs don't allow for a view of the sky.
The breakfast and dinner buffets offer a wide variety of options and are delicious.
This hotel has a very resort-like feel and I'd definitely return if I had the chance.

GGuest UserAll staffs are very good. I could feel they were hard working in order to provide their best service. Saha running around every-time when we needed assistance or some information but limited English from other staffs.
Dinner and breakfast are not premium but worth for what we paid.
Walking distance to everywhere in this little town.
AAlc101Absolutely beautiful location and multiple hot spring options! The buffet breakfast was exquisite as well ask the multi-course dinner. Sadly we only were able to stay one night but waking up in morning to see beautiful flurries of snow surrounded by mountains was much more magical and memorable than I imagined! During our stay, I even lost my camera and the staff were so kind to go down the mountain and mail it to me at the airport, speak Japanese to the staff at the airport to help me find it and I am forever grateful for their kindness and service. If I lost my camera I would’ve lost all my photos and videos of the trip! The staff speak Chinese and fluent English and so it was really easy to communicate with them. Will definitely come back!! Thank you Shima Tamura!
YyouyuguitarA very good hotel with a free shuttle bus to Yubata, the train station, and the ski resort. The hotel is large and has comprehensive recreational facilities, including bowling, karaoke, and billiards.
The receptionist speaks excellent English, making communication completely seamless. It's a long walk from the reception to the rooms, but you'll pass a large gift shop with prices the same as the gift shop next to Yubata, and you can even get tax-free shopping. There are also many art exhibitions in the hallways.
The rooms are spacious, with two beds and one tatami room, and underfloor heating. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi. The open-air bath in the large public bath is very comfortable, allowing you to enjoy the snow while soaking in the hot spring. The hot spring water is piped from Yubata Genyu, and the temperature is quite high.
The hotel's most unique feature is its series of walking/hiking activities, with three sessions in total. I participated in the 7:00 AM forest hike with a professional guide. The hotel provides rain boots, but I recommend wearing thick socks as the rain boots are quite thin. We will walk into the forest and reach the ski resort. We will hike in the snow for about an hour. It will be cold, so be sure to dress warmly.
ชชญาดาพาเที่ยวIf you're a foreigner, a translation tool is essential because the staff don't speak English, or their accent was hard for us to understand. When we couldn't communicate, they seemed annoyed (90% of the staff didn't smile at us). There was an older staff member who was friendly, especially the one handling ski activity bookings. 🤬🤬 Absolutely terrible.
The food was mediocre, not much variety or taste.
The room was clean, and the onsen bathroom with amenities was excellent.
In summary, due to poor communication and the staff's lack of enthusiasm in recommending snow activities, my trip ended in tears 😭😭. I had planned to do many snow activities, but instead, I just walked around, built snowmen, and rolled in the snow.
I won't be coming back here next trip. I'll look for a hotel that's more welcoming to Thais.
GGuest UserThis is a fantastic hot spring hotel, offering a one-night stay with two meals, making it a great value. Breakfast and dinner are both buffets, and the buffet spread is excellent, especially the seasoned steaks, freshly squeezed orange juice (made on the spot), and pre-made banana milkshakes. In the evening, there's a Japanese folk song and dance performance, as well as adorable Kusatsu souvenirs—very kawaii. It was a truly memorable, enjoyable, and satisfying trip. The room also has its own onsen, which maintains a constant 38°C temperature and automatically refills when the water level drops. The room is stocked with high-end Kose shampoo and hair products, a high-end hair dryer, facial toiletries, lotion, hair products, and several kimono accessories. Booking a room with an indoor bath also offers executive lounge access from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and access to the newly opened VIP onsen in the annex, essentially renting the entire place out. It's very nice.

AAnonymous UserIt takes about 30 minutes by bus from JR Shibukawa Station to get there, so the transportation isn't very convenient. The hotel doesn't offer a shuttle service. The Ikaho Literature Museum is upstairs. The room and meals included are decent, but dinner doesn't include drinks. You need to provide your room number for billing, and you'll pay at check-out.
GGuest UserThis is my second time here, and it's close to Minakami Station, so it's perfect for a spontaneous solo trip to see the snow. The building is very spacious, but it's well-cleaned and a very clean inn. There are many foreign staff members, but they are well-trained and more friendly and polite than the average Japanese. The dinner and breakfast buffets are delicious, and the hot springs are very good, both in the private baths and the large public baths. I was worried that there would be a lot of foreign group tourists and that it would be noisy, but I got the impression that they were all well-mannered foreign tourists. I would like to come to this inn every year when it snows.
