For elementary school students who have already learned about Lu Xun's works, from the Hundred Herb Garden to the Three Flavors Study, and preferably have also read some of Lu Xun's works, this place is quite interesting. The scenic area is divided into several attractions with different entrances and exits. Lu Xun's ancestral home and Lu Xun's former residence are two different places. The Hundred Herb Garden seems to be located within Lu Xun's former residence, so you need to pay close attention. The Hundred Herb Garden is actually just a small vegetable garden, while the Zhu Family Garden is quite large, with a very tall tree. There are covered boats outside the scenic area. There are many Q-version Lu Xun figures. The little Lu Xun school fridge magnets in the souvenir shop are super cute.

Shen Garden, located east of Shaoxing, was originally the private garden of a wealthy merchant surnamed Shen during the Southern Song Dynasty, also known as "Shen's Garden," and has a history of over 800 years. In the third year of the Shaoxi reign of the Southern Song Dynasty, Lu You visited Shen Garden and composed a poem, thus bringing the garden into historical records. In the twenty-fifth year of the Shaoxi reign, after failing the imperial examination, Lu You visited Shen Garden again and happened to meet Tang Wan. Sadly, he inscribed a poem, "The Phoenix Hairpin," on the wall. In the twenty-sixth year of the Shaoxi reign, Tang Wan visited Shen Garden again, glimpsed Lu You's inscription, and was deeply moved. She then composed a poem, "The Phoenix Hairpin," which was inscribed on a stele in the garden. Shen Garden is divided into three main parts: the historical site area, the East Garden, and the South Garden, featuring attractions such as the Lonely Crane Pavilion, the Double Osmanthus Hall, and the Phoenix Hairpin Stele.

The route started in Luzhen and ended in Keyan, with no queues throughout. In Luzhen, we took a traditional awning boat, which cost 80 yuan and could seat a maximum of three people. There were only two of us, so it was just right – not crowded and not expensive. After getting off the awning boat, we looked for painted boats. We didn't have to wait long; they left as soon as they were full. After arriving at Jianhu Lake, there's a glass bridge and Deer Island, but these require additional payment.

Core Experiences: Three Highlights and the Soul of the Wupeng Boat 1. Cliffside Cave Lake: A Miracle of Nature and Man The most breathtaking aspect of Donghu Lake is not its natural lake, but the cliffs carved by ancient quarrymen over thousands of years. Huge rock faces plunge directly into the water, their ochre-red hue creating a striking contrast with the picturesque Jiangnan water towns, resulting in a powerful visual impact. Especially when boating through Taogong Cave and Xiantao Cave, light pours down from the cave entrances, making the water a deep, emerald green, and the damp rock walls reflect a soft glow—instantly understanding why it's hailed as "the world's largest water and rock bonsai." This landscape, sculpted by human hands yet seemingly created by nature, is the unique charm of Donghu Lake. 2. Wupeng Boat—The Right Way to Unlock Donghu "A trip to Donghu is incomplete without a wupeng boat ride." This is no exaggeration. The wupeng boat is more than just transportation; it's the soul of experiencing Donghu Lake. • Best Perspective: Only by sitting in a gently swaying awning boat can you fully appreciate the grandeur of the cliffs and the mystery of the caves. Viewing from land is like "looking at a painting"; traveling by water is like "entering the painting." • Unique Experience: The boatmen's skillful rowing, using both hands and feet, is a spectacle in itself. They expertly navigate the boat through narrow gaps barely wide enough for one boat, shouting their boats within the Tao Gong Cave and feeling the ethereal echo—an experience that cannot be replicated on foot. • Excellent Photography: With the cliffs and arched bridges as a backdrop, you can take the most authentic Shaoxing-style travel photos from the boat. 3. Gardens and Cultural Embellishments The pavilions, terraces, bridges, and flowing water along the lake are typical of Jiangnan gardens, adding a touch of elegance to the rugged rock formations. The "Tao She" (陶社) within the scenic area was built to commemorate Tao Chengzhang, a martyr of the Xinhai Revolution, adding a sense of historical weight to the landscape. Strolling across the tranquil Qin Bridge or Xiachuan Bridge, watching the awning boats glide by beneath, is a truly delightful experience. Some constructive comments and suggestions: • Advantages: • Distinctive Features: The combination of quarry relics and Jiangnan scenery is rare nationwide, making it highly recognizable. • Unique Experience: The awning boat experience is the core highlight, offering a strong sense of participation and memorable moments. • Convenient Transportation: Close to the city center, accessible by public transportation, easily integrated into a Shaoxing day trip. • Relaxing Tour: The scenic area is of moderate size, allowing for a leisurely 2-3 hour tour without excessive fatigue. • Points to Note: • Limited Area: Walking alone might make the area feel small, allowing for a quick exploration. The essence of the experience is best appreciated by boat. •

Shenyuan Garden isn't very large, consisting of a central courtyard and an east garden, with a Lu You Memorial Hall behind the courtyards. The historical materials in the Lu You Memorial Hall are worth seeing, but otherwise, there's nothing particularly special. It's not good value for money.

Anchang Ancient Town has moderate commercial development, but residents still live within the town, preserving some of its original lifestyle. The town is situated along a river, offering opportunities for sightseeing on a wupeng boat. Alternatively, you can walk under pavilions, offering shelter from the wind and sun. The Master's Hall, Stone Sculpture Hall, Folk Customs Hall, and City God Temple are all worth a visit. At Renchang Sauce Factory, you can experience traditional methods of brewing, and the ubiquitous preserved meats are a specialty. During the National Day holiday, the town is bustling with visitors, making it worth a stroll to explore and sample the local delicacies.

The scenic area boasts exquisitely carved Buddhist statues, including the largest Buddha statue in Jiangnan and the largest reclining Buddha in Asia, which are truly breathtaking. The area has also served as a filming location for numerous period dramas such as *The Snow Sword* and *Lotus Pavilion*, exuding a strong sense of ancient charm. The Prajna Valley within the scenic area was transformed from a Ming Dynasty quarry. Its five-tiered waterfall and Buddhist statues create a picturesque scene.

"I took a black-sailed boat across the Tishan Bridge and suddenly saw a rubbing of "Kuaixue Shiqing Tie" on the white wall. This moon once shone on Xizhi." Jiezhu Lecture Temple was originally the residence of Wang Xizhi. It is said that the Goose Pond and the Ink Pond are the remains of his brush washing. The name of the temple comes from the allusion of Wang Xizhi's confession of Jiezhu. The existing Wang Xizhi Historical Relics Exhibition Hall displays treasures such as "Kuaixue Shiqing Tie" and "Lanting Preface". ‌‌ The streets and alleys such as Tishan Bridge and Duopo Lane retain the historical allusions of Wang Xizhi writing on fans to help the poor. The walls of the scenic area are decorated with calligraphy and inscriptions, realizing the artistic expression of "using walls as paper".

Leaving Lu Xun's former residence, cross the road and step onto a small stone bridge to reach the famous Sanwei Study. It's free to enter and attracts many tourists. There's also a small garden. This is where Mr. Lu Xun studied as a child, and it's mentioned in his essays. It's worth a visit.
