Need a nature break near Washington Dulles Airport? The Beaverdam Reservoir Loop Trail in Ashburn was such a nice surprise. One minute you're in the suburbs, the next you're under tall trees with the water sparkling beside you. The loop wraps around Beaverdam Reservoir for about 8.3 miles, mostly on dirt and rock paths with some gravel sections. We loved the mix: wooden boardwalks over little creeks, quiet pine forest, open green fields and wide views over the water. There's even an old rusty truck slowly being swallowed by the forest, one of a few relics left along the trail. We started from Reservoir Park, the newer park on the reservoir run by NOVA Parks. You don't have to do the whole loop. Walk out as far as you like and turn back. · Address: Reservoir Park, 22211 Water Vista Dr, Ashburn, VA 20148 · Hours: trails open dawn to dusk · Price: free · Getting there: drive to Reservoir Park, the entrance is inside the Brambleton Community Park West baseball field complex off Belmont Ridge Road Tips · GPS may not find Water Vista Drive yet, so navigate to Belmont Ridge Road · Wear long pants, some parts are overgrown and ticks are around · Bring plenty of water, it gets hot and humid in summer · Dogs are allowed · Other trailheads include Mt. Hope Road and Tillett Field · Boat rentals (in season) and fishing are available at the park

The best part is that the trail isn't just about reaching one viewpoint — the whole route is filled with beautiful scenery, from the river and limestone cliffs to the peaceful countryside. 📸 Travel tip: Take your time along the trail and keep your camera ready. There are plenty of photo opportunities, especially around Ilam Rock and Reynards Cave! #bucketlistdestinations Looking for an easy walk with a great view? Thor’s Cave is definitely worth adding to your Peak District list! 🏞️ The walk from the parking area to the cave takes around 30 minutes, making it a pretty easy hike even if you're not a serious hiker. ✨ The highlight: The huge limestone cave opens up to an amazing view over Manifold Valley. It feels like a natural window overlooking the countryside — and it's definitely worth the walk! 📸 🚗 Parking tip: There is some free parking, but spaces are limited. I'd recommend arriving earlier, especially on weekends, as it can fill up quickly. 🥾 Overall: Easy walk + amazing scenery = a great little Peak District adventure! #ThorsCave #PeakDistrict #PeakDistrictNationalPark #UKTravel #EnglandTravel #HikingUK #UKHiking #HiddenGem #UnderratedSpots #TravelUK #TripMoments

🌿 Tissington Village & Surroundings – 1-Day Trip We started our visit from the car park just outside Tissington Village, which is a convenient base for exploring the area on foot. As you walk into the village, you’ll immediately notice thetimeless charm of the British countryside. The highlight is Tissington Hall, a beautiful historic household. Surrounding it are picturesque stone cottages, a tranquil pond, and open grassland—perfect for a relaxing picnic, especially in May when everything is lush and green. Following the village paths, you’ll come across the quaint Tissington Methodist Chapel. If you visit during the famous Tissington Well Dressing Festival, the chapel opens its doors to visitors, showcasing intricate floral decorations. Please be considerate when you are in the Chapel because the building is small and to many visitors at once might be too crowded. Tissington Village is famous for its Well Dressing Festival in May. During the Festival you can find many wells (e.g. the Town Well) dressed up with blooming flowers, leaves and seeds to form beautifully crafted well dressings—a unique and traditional art form in Derbyshire. Beyond the village, the surrounding countryside stretches out into miles of rolling green fields and small hills. It’s an ideal setting for walking or light hiking-- we did just this and hiked up a hill nearby, with peaceful trails and classic English rural scenery in every direction. #tissington #chapel #hiking

A 1-Day Trip to Tissington Village, Ashbourne I visited this charming village with a local Christian friendship group from Leicester, and it turned out to be a wonderful day trip. Our transport was arranged by the group, and we travelled by minibus before walking into the village to explore on foot. Tissington is a very small and traditional English village, so it is easy to see everything in a day. Tissington is in Derbyshire. It is especially famous for its annual Well Dressing festival, which usually takes place during Ascension Week in May. During this event, several of the village wells are decorated with beautiful pictures made from flower petals, leaves, seeds, and other natural materials. Many of the designs show Bible stories or seasonal themes. As you walk around the village, you can expect to see several decorated wells in different locations, including scenes inspired by the Bible and local history. The tradition is one of the oldest and most famous in Derbyshire. There are a few small shops where you can buy drinks, snacks, postcards and souvenirs. I also noticed a historic manor house and hotel building in the village. The architecture looked very interesting from the outside. The best-known historic building is Tissington Hall, a Jacobean manor house in the centre of the village. If the weather is good, the surrounding countryside is beautiful. The green fields, old stone cottages and clear spring water flowing from the wells create a peaceful atmosphere. I especially enjoyed watching the fresh water run through the village streets — it felt calming and refreshing, almost like becoming one with nature. Please remember to be respectful when visiting. Many of the paths pass directly beside private homes and gardens, so visitors should stay on the public paths and avoid entering private property. For transport from Leicester, the easiest option is to drive (around 1 hours), public transportation (train and bus) will take around 2.5 hours. #tissington #travel2026 #Derbyshire

The National Trust - The Children's Country House at Sudbury is located in Sudbury Hall, a country house in Derbyshire, England. Dating back to 1086, the manor of Sudbury was listed in the Domesday Book following the Norman Conquest. During World War II, an American Army Air Force hospital was situated in Sudbury Park, near the Sudbury Royal Air Force base. In 2020, Sudbury Hall was closed to the public for renovations. During this time, the National Trust consulted 100 child 'ambassadors' to redesign the visitor experience for children. It reopened in October 2022 under the new name, The Children's Country House at Sudbury, featuring areas for dressing up and dancing, a mirror ball, and a neon sign that reads "Party like it's 1699." Sudbury Hall dates back to the Restoration Era, but the architecture by George Vernon is based on Jacobean design, featuring a grand staircase and a long gallery. The house is a two-story red brick building with a Baroque-style front entrance porch, adorned with paired columns on each level and door knockers. The carvings above the porch were crafted by William Wilson. Sudbury houses an extensive collection of portraits of the Vernon family, along with other paintings and fine art pieces. The Children's Country House Museum offers various spaces showcasing an impressive array of toys, including the historic toy collection of Betty Cadbury. Visitors can explore toys from different eras, including many of Betty's prized mechanical toys. Betty's collection is truly unique, representing a lifetime passion for toys. She was regarded as an expert in the field during her lifetime, owning one of the finest collections. The dollhouses are particularly captivating, providing insights into family life and the impact of World War II on childhood during that era. In addition to appreciating the historic mansion, visitors can also explore numerous children's toys from the World War II period.

📍Peak District, England A short trip from York brings you to the Peak District, one of England’s most beautiful national parks. With dramatic ridges, peaceful valleys, and charming villages, it’s a countryside escape that feels timeless. 🥾 Walks & Views The hike up Mam Tor gave sweeping views over rolling hills and stone-walled fields. In Dovedale, we followed trails through limestone valleys, crossing its famous stepping stones over the River Dove. 🏡 Villages & Heritage We explored Bakewell, home of the famous tart, and wandered around Chatsworth House, a grand estate with gardens that felt like stepping into a period drama. Every village came with stone cottages, tearooms, and a warm welcome. 🍻 Countryside Charm After long walks, nothing beat resting in a cosy pub with hearty food and a pint. The combination of fresh air, history, and local flavours made the trip unforgettable. ⸻ Travel Tips: 🚆 Reachable by train from York with connections to Sheffield or Manchester, then onward to Peak District towns 🥾 Bring proper walking shoes — trails can be steep or muddy 🐑 Don’t miss local specialities like Bakewell tart or Derbyshire oatcakes ⛰️ For a scenic day, combine Mam Tor, Castleton, and Bakewell #peakdistrict #york

The theme park had a smaller crowd than expected which was great, as we were planning to queue for hours, and the rides were amazing
J3ryetAbsolutely fantastic. Would recommend the buggy ride around the garden. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The house and all the staff made you feel very welcome and relaxed. The markets are really good and have a very nice vibe and the house itself is decorated very well with a different theme every year. This year it's Henry and the Lion! The gardens are also lit up at night so definitely go for a walk after leaving the house if you have time. You will need to book tickets early ..
ElbikBeautiful scenery, comfortable natural environment
申未小善My visit to the British Museum was completely transformed by Diana's guide. She didn't just introduce the exhibits; she connected the scattered artifacts into a coherent narrative of world history. From the Rosetta Stone's code and the controversy surrounding the Parthenon reliefs, to the Mesopotamian cuneiform and the historical context behind Oriental porcelain, her explanations were engaging, logically sound, vivid, and insightful. Dry history was no longer just cold text; each artifact came alive with a vibrant background. Her pace was comfortable, and she patiently answered our diverse questions. Three hours was incredibly enriching. Highly recommended! If you want to truly understand the artifacts at the British Museum, you absolutely must see her!
