Strolling Sitges | the blue and white romance of a seaside town — traveler post in Sitges

Strolling Sitges | the blue and white romance of a seaside town

Today I set off alone for Sitges, wearing the perfect blue and white OOTD for the seaside👗💙🤍 Wandering slowly from the town’s narrow cobblestone alleys all the way to the end, I turned the corner and met the endless blue sea🌊✨ At that moment, I felt completely healed~ 🌇 Best time to visit: Highly recommend coming at sunset! Avoid the scorching sun and sit on a bench by the sea, watching the sunset turn the water into shimmering gold🌅 This is when the true vacation mode kicks in~ 🌞 Daytime tips: Although the sun is blazing hot right now (who can understand early summer heat😅), just step into the shade of the street trees and you’ll immediately feel the cool sea breeze🌬️ This contrast of hot and cool is part of Sitges’ unique charm! 📸 Photo spots: · Blue and white church⛪ · Seaside promenade🌊 · Colorful alleys🌈 Today, Sitges left me with its most beautiful memories in its blue and white palette💙

Sitges|The World Fantasy Film Festival Town Next to Barcelona! — traveler post in Sitges

Sitges|The World Fantasy Film Festival Town Next to Barcelona!

Many people head straight to Barcelona when they come to Spain, but if you have time, I highly recommend spending a day or two in Sitges. It’s about a 40-minute train ride, drive, or private car from Barcelona. Once you get off, you’ll notice the pace here is completely different—the sea is bluer, the houses are whiter, and the whole town has a relaxed, artistic vibe. Sitges is not only a seaside resort town but also one of the world’s top three fantasy film festivals: the Sitges Film Festival is held here. During the festival, the entire town turns into a giant “screening room.” ✔ Must-visit in Sitges 📍Museu del Cau Ferrat (House of Ironwork Museum) This was originally the seaside home and studio of Catalan modernist artist Santiago Rusiñol. In the late 19th century, he transformed it into an art salon, gradually giving Sitges a “cultural depth.” The museum houses paintings, sketches, sculptures, wrought iron, ceramics, glass art, and many of Rusiñol’s personal works. You can also see early works by Picasso and two authentic paintings by El Greco. My favorite part is the atmosphere: windows facing the sea, a stained glass corridor, and hand-painted tile walls, all very cinematic. 📍Palau de Maricel (Maricel Palace) Almost connected to Cau Ferrat, it’s perfect to visit both together. The entire building blends Mediterranean, Gothic, and Renaissance styles. The most stunning feature is the sea corridor, with stone arches opening directly to the Mediterranean. ✔ Tips: Both are by the old town seaside, so plan 2-3 hours to explore slowly. ✔ This time, we also learned more about Sitges’ film culture 📍Prado Cinema & Retiro Cinema Both are historic old cinemas still used as screening venues during the film festival. We also saw very old film projectors, which gave a strong vintage movie vibe. 📍Sitges Film Office The walls are covered with posters from past fantasy film festivals. This office is responsible for film shoots, industry cooperation, and film resource coordination, showing the deep connection between the city and cinema. 📍Meliá Sitges Hotel One of the core locations during the film festival, hosting many red carpet events, premieres, and main competition screenings. 【Restaurant Recommendation】 📍Restaurante Mare Nostrum, the oldest local restaurant ✔ Sitges Travel Tips ▪ About 40 minutes from Barcelona ▪ The old town is best explored on foot at a leisurely pace ▪ Recommended to spend one or two days ▪ The seaside is especially beautiful at dawn and dusk ▪ The atmosphere is completely different during the film festival

The Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona is breathtakingly beautiful — traveler post in Sitges

The Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona is breathtakingly beautiful

The sunshine in Barcelona always carries a reckless, almost doting intensity☀️ The moment I pushed open the heavy doors of the Palau de la Música Catalana and looked up, all the noise was filtered into fragments of stained glass✨ I was truly stunned. It felt as if my soul had been gently lifted by an invisible hand🫧 That massive glass dome looks like an ice-blue flower suspended in the air, radiating a divine glow💎 It lets the light from the sky pour in without reservation. Colorful light spots dance like elves on every wall, and the entire hall is wrapped in a beautiful, sacred, soft glow🌈 The intricate ceiling patterns, the colorful mosaics embedded in the walls, and the lifelike reliefs reveal themselves layer by layer in the interplay of light and shadow. There are so many details that it feels like you could drown in this visual feast🫠 I suddenly thought that if I could attend a concert in such a space, perhaps even the musical notes would turn into colors🎵 This is the ultimate romance of Catalan Modernist architecture; it feels as if time has been brewed into amber here🍯 It only made sense to embark on a three-day roaming trip around Barcelona, extending this beauty even further🚗 Day 1️⃣ Gaudi's fantasy and a tipsy night🍷 In the morning, go to the Sagrada Familia to watch the morning light pierce through the stained glass, dyeing the interior of the church into a fairytale forest🌳 In the afternoon, visit Casa Batlló to see the roof that resembles a dragon's spine and the ocean-like flowing blue tiles🌊 In the evening, avoid the crowds and go to Park Güell to sit on that winding bench, watching all of Barcelona turn into a golden sea under the sunset🌅 At night, find a small tavern on a street corner, order a glass of sangria, pair it with paella, and feel the passion of Spain🥘 Day 2️⃣ A medieval dream in the surrounding towns🏰 Rent a small car and drive to Peñíscola, near Barcelona. This town, known as the "Moonlight on the Sea," looks just like a scene from a Hayao Miyazaki animation🌙 White houses are layered along the deep blue Mediterranean Sea. Walk up the steps to the highest point of the castle to feel the sea breeze. It feels as if you could touch the clouds just by reaching out☁️ In the afternoon, go to Sitges, wander through those alleys full of bohemian charm, and leave two rows of footprints on the beach👣 In the evening, return to the city center, go to La Boqueria Market, eat some fresh ham, and drink a glass of freshly squeezed juice🍹 Day 3️⃣ Anthems on the peaks of Montserrat⛰️ In the morning, take an early train to Montserrat. As the rack railway travels through the strangely shaped pink rocky mountains, it feels like you are heading toward a city in the sky🚂 Make a wish in front of the Black Madonna statue in the monastery, then stroll along the mountain trails, overlooking the mist-covered Catalan landscape🌫️ In the afternoon, return to the city and walk along the narrow, dim cobblestone streets of the Gothic Quarter, touching the ruins of the ancient Roman walls🏛️ In the glow of dusk, buy an ice cream and gently bid farewell to this romantic city🍦

A budget-friendly city you must visit to broaden your child's horizons — traveler post in Sitges

A budget-friendly city you must visit to broaden your child's horizons

Barcelona is a city shaped by both Gaudí's fantastical architecture and Mediterranean sunshine, while the Gothic alleys of the Old Town and the tapas bars on street corners bring it back to a grounded, vibrant daily life. Unlike the beach destinations we've discussed before, Barcelona is best explored on foot; plan for about 4 days to soak it all in. 🏗️ Must-visit core attractions The essence of Barcelona is concentrated in two main areas: Gaudí's architecture and the Old Town. Be sure to book tickets for popular attractions on their official websites 1–2 weeks in advance. Gaudí's architectural complex (must-visit) · Sagrada Família: The soul of Barcelona. When sunlight streams through the stained glass, the interior looks like a giant kaleidoscope. We recommend choosing the 2:00 PM–4:00 PM slot for the best lighting. Book on the official website in advance, and consider climbing the towers for a bird's-eye view of the city. · Park Güell: Famous for its colorful mosaic lizard and fairytale-like architecture. Admission is free from 6:00 AM–8:00 AM, making it perfect for early risers to take great photos. · Casa Batlló & Casa Milà: Both are located on Passeig de Gràcia, just a 7-minute walk apart, so you can visit them on the same day. Old Town and the waterfront (mostly free) · Gothic Quarter: A labyrinth of narrow medieval streets, perfect for wandering without a destination. You'll stumble upon plazas and street performers around every corner. · La Rambla & La Boqueria Market: A 1.2 km urban pedestrian street. Freshly squeezed juice in the market costs about €2, and the colors and lively atmosphere are very therapeutic. · Barceloneta Beach: A Blue Flag beach in the city with fine sand and shallow water, perfect for watching the sunset in the evening. · Montjuïc & Magic Fountain: You can see the National Palace on the hill from Plaça d'Espanya. From Thursday to Sunday evenings, there is a free musical fountain light show where water jets dance to the music—it's worth a special trip. 🚇 Transportation guide Arrival: Barcelona–El Prat Airport (BCN) is about 12 km from the city center. The Aerobús airport express takes about 35 minutes to reach Plaça de Catalunya and costs about €6.75. Metro Line L9 South takes about 40 minutes and costs about €5.15. City transportation: The metro covers almost all attractions and is the most convenient option for tourists. It operates until 2:00 AM on Fridays and runs 24 hours on Saturdays. We highly recommend buying the T-casual 10-trip card (about €13), which is valid for the metro, buses, and trams. It averages about €1.30 per trip, which is much more cost-effective than a single ticket (about €2.90). The alleys in the Gothic Quarter and El Born are too narrow, so walking is best; we do not recommend taking taxis in these areas. 🥘 What to eat Barcelona's food scene ranges from street food to Michelin-starred restaurants. If you leave La Rambla and head into the side streets, you can find more affordable and authentic restaurants. Must-try local flavors · Paella: The Catalan version tends to be saltier and more savory; squid ink rice is also a specialty. · Tapas: Tortilla, fried small fish, and Iberian ham—you can't go wrong ordering these at any small shop. · Churros with hot chocolate: About €3 on the street. Dipping them in thick, hot chocolate is a sweet and warming treat. · La Boqueria Market: Freshly squeezed juice for €1–2, and fruit cups are fresh and refreshing—perfect for snacking while you explore. Restaurant recommendations: Cera 23 offers authentic Catalan cuisine, with squid ink rice and grilled octopus as specialties. If you want a Michelin-starred experience that offers good value, Prodigi is a one-star restaurant with an average cost of about €38 per person, which the Spanish media calls the "king of value." 🏠 Where to stay Pickpocketing is a significant issue in Barcelona, so accommodation safety is the top priority. We recommend booking 2–3 months in advance. Recommended areas · Eixample: The safest first choice. Gaudí's architecture around Passeig de Gràcia is within walking distance, shopping is convenient, and there are hotels ranging from budget to high-end. · Gràcia: A relatively quiet, trendy, and artistic area, suitable for travelers who want to stay away from the tourist crowds. · Gothic Quarter/El Born: Offers the most immersive experience of the old city, but the alleys are darker at night and the crowds are complex. Exercise caution if traveling alone. Not recommended: Remote alleys in the Old Town and the Sants-Montjuïc area, which can be quite desolate at night. 📅 Itinerary suggestions (4 days, 3 nights) Day 1 | Gaudí's fantastical day Morning: Sagrada Família (book tickets in advance, choose the 2:00 PM–4:00 PM slot for the best light) → Passeig de Gràcia to see the exteriors of Casa Batlló and Casa Milà → Evening: Sunset at Park Güell. Day 2 | Old Town stroll and waterfront Morning: Wander through the streets of the Gothic Quarter and visit the Barcelona Cathedral → Noon: Explore and eat at La Boqueria Market → Afternoon: Walk along La Rambla to the port → Evening: Sunset at Barceloneta Beach. Day 3 | Montjuïc and Magic Fountain Morning: Montjuïc, visit the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) → Afternoon: Fundació Joan Miró → Evening: Watch the Magic Fountain light show (Thursday–Sunday). Day 4 | Free time or surroundings You can visit the Picasso Museum (in the Gothic Quarter) or take a train to Sitges (about 40 minutes) to see the sea. If you have extra time, you can also go to Montserrat. ⚠️ Practical tips Best season: April–June and September–October have the most pleasant weather. Avoid the peak season of July–August, when prices drop by about 30%. Safety is paramount: Theft and robbery targeting tourists are rampant in Barcelona. Wear your backpack on your front, keep your passport close to your body, do not wear valuable jewelry, and do not carry large amounts of cash. If a stranger approaches you to chat, spills something on you, or offers unsolicited help, protect your belongings immediately and get away as quickly as possible. Keep photos of your passport and visa, and store them separately from the originals. Visa: Holders of mainland Chinese passports need to apply for a Schengen visa in advance. Ensure your passport has at least 6 months of validity remaining. Budget reference: About €800–€1,200 per person for 4 days and 3 nights (excluding international airfare). Accommodation and tickets are the main expenses; costs are manageable if you control your spending on dining and transportation.

Sitges Beach

Sitges Beach is very big and the sand is very fine. The sun makes the sand warm and it is very comfortable to walk on barefoot. There are many people sunbathing on the beach, and some are playing beach volleyball. Everyone is enjoying the beach time in their own way.

La Pedrera – Casa Milà

Gaudí was simply a genius. At the time, he broke free from conventional architectural understanding, abandoning straight lines in favor of curves, and drawing all his inspiration from the ocean. P.S.: There's a surprise on the top floor.

Picasso Museum Barcelona

A hidden gem in Barcelona's Gothic Quarter. This museum offers an exceptional exhibition from beginning to end and is truly a must-see. While Picasso's masterpieces are the main attraction, the temporary and featured exhibitions are equally impressive. The museum is beautifully curated, and the admission fee is very reasonable, making it one of the best cultural experiences I have ever had.

Flamenco City Hall Theatre - Barcelona

Since we were already there, we had to see the small-theater version of flamenco. Why did this highbrow art remind me of the Korean show WILDWILD? To be honest, when it comes to attracting tourists and creating stage effects, they still have a lot to learn from other Asian cultures. There's a lot of room for improvement. I don't know about the performance's professionalism, but the pacing was a bit slow, the costumes and makeup were subpar, and it lacked emotional depth.

Casa Vicens

Casa Vincennes Review (approx. 150 words) Casa Vincennes, Gaudí's first detached house and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is bursting with vibrant colors. The exterior, based on reddish-brown brick, is adorned with green and white marigold-patterned tiles, creating an exotic atmosphere. Inside, painted domes, floral and bird murals, and exquisite wood carvings complement each other, with natural materials used throughout. Sunlight filters through the windows, creating play of light and shadow that adds depth and dimension to the colorful hues. While it lacks the grandeur of the Sagrada Familia, it feels like a dreamy, colorful cottage hidden in a residential area. Every detail reveals Gaudí's early, whimsical, and romantic imagination, making a stroll through its interior incredibly therapeutic.
