80% of people will miss this park, and it’s this beautiful! — traveler post in Wayne County

80% of people will miss this park, and it’s this beautiful!

When it comes to national parks in the American West, most people immediately think of Yellowstone, Yosemite, or Arches. But if you prefer places with fewer crowds and stunning scenery, you must add Canyonlands National Park to your travel list! Many joke that it’s like the “buy one, get one free” next door to Arches National Park 🤣 But once you actually visit, you’ll realize— The grandeur of Canyonlands is just as impressive as those popular national parks! And because there are relatively fewer visitors, you can often enjoy vast landscapes all to yourself, which is truly a rare experience✨ 🌄 Why is Canyonlands so breathtaking? For millions of years, the Colorado River and Green River have been carving the plateau landscape. Weathering and erosion have together shaped a maze of canyons, spires, mesas, and fins. Standing on the viewpoint and looking into the distance, Layer upon layer of canyons stretch all the way to the horizon, as if the entire world has been sculpted anew by nature. Every snapshot looks like a desktop wallpaper-worthy scene📸 Canyonlands is mainly divided into three areas Most visitors go to the first part. The other two areas are more for hardcore adventurers and off-road enthusiasts. 1️⃣ Island in the Sky This is the most popular and easiest-to-access area of the park. A massive sandstone mesa floats above the canyons, With multiple viewpoints overlooking the magnificent canyons carved by the Colorado and Green Rivers. Perfect for: ✔️ First-time visitors ✔️ Self-driving sightseeing ✔️ Half-day or full-day trips ✔️ Light hiking experiences The most popular photo spot here is Mesa Arch🌅 At sunrise, sunlight shines through the arch, creating a classic scene. Although many compare it to Arches National Park, As a signature view of Canyonlands, it’s still worth a special visit. 2️⃣ The Needles Located in the southern part of the park. This area is characterized by vast red and white rock spires and canyon landscapes. The scenery is rich in layers, and there are more hiking trails🥾 Chesler Park is considered a highlight trail by many outdoor enthusiasts. If you enjoy: 🌵 Long-distance hiking 🏕️ Camping 🎒 Backpacking Then The Needles will be more attractive than Island in the Sky. 3️⃣ The Maze The most mysterious and primitive area of all Canyonlands. Almost no regular tourists come here. The roads are complex and remote, requiring a high-clearance 4WD vehicle to enter🚙 Besides the wild canyon scenery, You can also see the famous Horseshoe Canyon rock art site. Suitable for those who truly love adventure and challenges. 💡 Travel Tips ✔️ Only about a 40-minute drive from Arches National Park ✔️ Recommended to visit together with Arches ✔️ Summer temperatures can be high, remember to bring plenty of water ✔️ Island in the Sky is suitable for general visitors ✔️ The Needles and The Maze are better for hikers or off-roaders ✔️ Sunrise and sunset are the golden hours for photography🌅 Sometimes the most stunning views Are not the popular options in the guides. When you stand at the canyon’s edge, watching the layers of red canyons stretch to the horizon, You’ll suddenly understand why some say: This is one of the most underrated national parks in the American West🏜️✨

Hiking Utah: Capitol Reef National Park — traveler post in Wayne County

Hiking Utah: Capitol Reef National Park

Capitol Reef National Park, located in south-central Utah, is one of the state's "Mighty 5." While it doesn't draw the same overwhelming crowds as Zion or Bryce, it is a paradise for hikers who love natural scenery and exploring unique geological landscapes. 🏜️ What makes it so special? The heart of Capitol Reef isn't actually a "reef," but a massive geological wrinkle known as the Waterpocket Fold. Think of it as a 100-mile-long "fold" in the Earth's crust, formed by intense pressure from both sides. Eons of erosion have sculpted this into: · Red, orange, and white sandstone cliffs · Massive domes · Narrow slot canyons · Natural arches · Hoodoos and spires · Lush orchards and the Fremont River winding through the valley The "Capitol Dome" formation closely resembles the dome of the U.S. Capitol building, which is how the park earned its name. Among the trails, Hickman Bridge is one of the most highly recommended entry-level routes. It features: · A 1.7–2 mile round trip · Moderate difficulty · Some elevation gain · A stunning natural stone bridge It is also the most popular hiking trail in the park, with cars often parked along both sides of the road. Fortunately, the area is vast enough to thin out the crowds; by the time I reached the final arch-like rock formation, I practically had the place to myself. The scenery along the way is beautiful, offering views of three massive, uniquely shaped rock formations—Capitol Dome, Navajo Dome, and Pectols Pyramid. With all the different rock shapes and diverse textures to discover, the entire hike is a fascinating experience!

Top 5 National Parks in Utah Ranked by Personal Experience~! — traveler post in Wayne County

Top 5 National Parks in Utah Ranked by Personal Experience~!

If you ask me which state in the U.S. is best for national park road trips? I would most likely vote for Utah. In just one state, there are 5 national parks with completely different styles. From red rock canyons and natural stone arches to alien-like landscapes, it almost packs all the classic scenery of the American West✨ After visiting all five of Utah’s national parks consecutively at the end of April this year, I can finally share my review👇 Of course, the ranking is very subjective and only reflects my personal experience🤣 🥇TOP 1|Zion National Park The undisputed number one! If there’s any national park I’d be willing to visit again and again, it’s definitely Zion. It’s not just about sightseeing here. 🧗 Challenge cliff trails 💦 Experience canyon creek hiking 🥾 Trek through red rock canyons 🌄 Chase a breathtaking canyon sunset The activities are so diverse it doesn’t feel like a traditional scenic national park at all. Whether it’s the classic Angel's Landing or the super popular The Narrows, both are experiences you won’t regret. Plus, Springdale is right at the entrance, making lodging, dining, and grocery shopping very convenient. With stunning views, rich experiences, and great facilities, it’s a triple threat that’s simply legendary🏆 🥈TOP 2|Bryce Canyon National Park The biggest surprise for me. The photos are already beautiful, but seeing it in person is truly breathtaking. The hills are covered with Hoodoo rock pillars that look like a natural sculpture garden filling the canyon. As the light changes, the colors shift between orange, pink, and gold🌅 The best way to enjoy it isn’t just standing on the viewpoint taking photos, but walking right into the canyon. When you wander among the stone pillar forest, the immersive feeling is truly irreplaceable. As a photography enthusiast, this is a place where your camera shutter won’t stop clicking📸 🥉TOP 3|Arches National Park A place that perfectly embodies the phrase “masterpiece of nature.” It has over 2,000 natural stone arches. Each formation is unique. From Balanced Rock to Delicate Arch, every spot has its iconic landmark. What’s more, nearby Moab adds extra points. There are many lodging options, great food, and various outdoor activities like off-roading, rafting, and biking. It’s a very complete experience stop🚙 4️⃣ TOP 4|Canyonlands National Park My biggest regret this trip. Due to limited time, we only explored the most popular Island in the Sky area. The view from the canyon edge is indeed stunning. But I feel like we only saw a small part of it. We didn’t get to explore The Needles or The Maze in depth. So it feels more like a “dark horse” candidate. The more you get to know it, the more you fall in love. Already on my list for a future revisit✅ 5️⃣ TOP 5|Capitol Reef National Park To be clear, it’s not that it’s not beautiful😂 It’s just that among Utah’s five national parks, the competition is really tough. It has beautiful canyons, rock layers, and orchard scenery. Stopping by for a visit during a road trip is very pleasant. But compared to Zion’s grandeur, Bryce’s uniqueness, and Arches’ recognizability, its memorable points are a bit weaker. Better suited as a delightful bonus stop on a Utah road trip🚗 My final ranking: 🥇 Zion National Park 🥈 Bryce Canyon National Park 🥉 Arches National Park 🏅 Canyonlands National Park 🏅 Capitol Reef National Park

Lower Antelope Canyon

Lower Antelope Canyon is definitely worth a visit. We were lucky to have a great guide, Joanna from Ken's Tour. Hope I spelled her name correctly. Here's a picture of her. She was very efficient in teaching us how to adjust our camera settings and helped us take photos. For the last photo, she asked everyone what language they spoke and said "seahorse" in Chinese. Joanna took all the particularly good, wallpaper-worthy photos and also offered to take group photos for everyone. A good guide makes this trip even more perfect.

Grand Canyon National Park is a truly spectacular place that leaves you amazed from the moment you arrive. The endless canyon views, dramatic cliffs, and beautifully layered rocks create a landscape unlike anywhere else. Every viewpoint offers a different perspective, especially during sunrise and sunset when the colors become incredibly vibrant. Walking along the rim feels peaceful while surrounded by such immense natural beauty. For adventure lovers, the hiking trails provide an unforgettable way to experience the canyon up close. It is a perfect destination for nature, photography, and exploration. If you could visit, would you choose sunrise or sunset?

Upper Antelope Canyon

Definitely worth seeing! To see the golden sand pillars effect, you need to go during the dry season. We came in late October, and it had rained the previous two days, so the sand was wet and didn't create the desired effect. However, overall, the scenery is stunning. Our guide was a young Navajo native in his late twenties; his English was excellent, and he was quite patient. He even helped us take photos at various points along the way. Thumbs up! 👍👍
