The famous statues of the three kings commemorate the three great contributors to Chiang Mai: Emperor Langanheng, King Menglai and King Nanmeng. They are the three most important northern Thai and Laotian kings in Lanna's history. Ancient city tours are bound to pass here, and I have also passed several times, backed by the Chiang Mai Municipal Cultural and Art Center, Chiang Mai Women's Prison is also near the Three Kings Monument. When Chiang Mai was founded, King Menglai was strongly supported by two other kings, who pledged to be brothers. However, less than a hundred years later, the Chiang Mai Dynasty annexed two other dynasties and became the largest Dynasty in northern Taipei. The statue has also become a place of pilgrimage for local residents. The local people laid flowers at the foot of the statue and lit incense candles, praying that the spirit of the three kings could bring happiness.
