About Suizhong

Suizhong is situated on the coast of the Bohai Sea, next to the city of Huludao in Liaoning province. It is home to a large number of ethnic minorities including Manchu, Mongolian, Hui and Korean people. It has beautiful natural scenery and numerous historical attractions, including the ruins of a Qin dynasty palace. The large expanse of coast makes Suizhong an ideal holiday destination.

Nine-Gate Water Great Wall

Historical Site
Located in the suburb of Suizhong County and at the junction of Liaoning and Hebei Provinces, the Nine-Gate Water Great Wall was built in the Northern Qi Dynasty and later expanded in 1381. It is connected to the Great Wall in the direction of Shanhaiguan Pass in the south and extends northward to the Jiujiang River where a 100-meter (328-feet) cross-river bridge stands. It was named after the nine water drainage gates under the city bridge. Here, you can take the city bridge to visit this unique ancient military fortress and enter the Great Wall tunnel to explore the military facilities built in the cave. You can also climb the ruins of the Great Wall on the ridge to look around; the scenery of the mountains, city walls and beacon towers is majestic.

Zhimao Bay lies on the coast of the Bohai Sea in the western part of Liaoning Province. It is affiliated to Wanjia Town, Suizhong County, Huludao City. The bay is close to Shanhaiguan, with convenient transportation and high-quality pollution-free seawater. Since it is an unexplored pristine beach, the environment is quiet and beautiful, and the folk customs are simple. In Zhimao Bay, the gentle beach has soft sand and clear sea water. There are three huge reefs in the sea, not far from the shore. According to legend, this is the tomb of Meng Jiangnü, where Meng Jiangnü jumped into the sea.

The Suizhong Leaning Tower is located in Qianwei Town in the southwest of Suizhong County. In ancient times, it was also called the Ruizhou Crooked Tower. The Suizhong Leaning Tower was built in the Liao Dynasty. After a several earthquakes and floods, it began to lean but never fell over. The angle of slope of the Suizhong Leaning Tower is more severe than any other leaning tower in China or abroad, and predates the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Italy by several hundred years.
