スラッジセンターは大阪市内の下水処理場から出た汚泥、つまり下水の中の固形物を処理し、燃料や埋め戻し材として再利用するための施設です。従来は下水処理場で発生する汚泥をトラック輸送していましたが、ここは各下水処理場とパイプでつながっていて、汚泥を圧送しているためトラックによる排ガスや臭気の拡散を防ぐことができるそうです。
