MM275881****Our family of three had a trip to Xi'an and booked a stay at Somerset Serviced Residence. Overall, we were very satisfied.
**Hygiene**: As expected from an Ascott property, the hygiene was quite good. We didn't find any overlooked spots. The marks on the kitchen island seem to be from age and couldn't be wiped off, but they didn't affect its use.
**Facilities**: For a hotel that opened in 2016, the facilities are quite well-maintained. However, they do feel a bit dated and not quite up with the times. Having gotten used to newer hotels, the lack of a smart TV for screen mirroring, smart toilet, or electric curtains felt a bit inconvenient. The sofa was a bit worn, the floor had some scratches, and the screw for the bathroom vanity mirror had fallen out. On the positive side, the refrigerator, washing machine, and microwave were all major brands and very convenient to use, which was great for a family stay.
**Environment**: It's located near Capitaland Mall, so there are plenty of dining options, and ordering takeout was also easy. The subway station is a bit far, though. We mostly took taxis or drove ourselves. If you're driving, you can park in the parking garage behind the building, and it's free for guests.
**Service**: Standard Ascott service. I'd like to commend a front desk staff member, a girl with medium-length hair and round glasses, for her excellent attitude. The apartment provides complimentary sweet drinks every day, some of which are quite tasty and beautifully colored!
I think the most commendable aspect was the extra bed. I expected something basic, but it was 1.1 meters wide, similar to a standard twin bed, and the mattress was very thick and comfortable. For a family with older children, this was very convenient. I would recommend it for future visits to Xi'an.
Many people said the breakfast wasn't good, but I actually found it acceptable. It seemed to cater more to foreign guests, which might be why. Given that Xi'an's diet is generally high in carbs and low in vitamins, it was nice to have plenty of lettuce and fruit at the hotel breakfast to supplement our vitamin intake.
There's a swimming pool and fitness center on the 27th floor.
Considering the location and space, the value for money is quite good. And you have to trust that even with age, Ascott is still Ascott.
