The family room amenities were severely lacking. I forgot to take a picture of the bathroom, but it was incredibly small – the toilet stall was like something out of an airplane, and the shower was tiny too. The room itself was long and narrow. Instead of two chairs where they could have fit, there were two beanbag chairs. The 1.5-meter bed didn't feel like 1.5 meters, and there were no nightstands; the charging plug had to go on the floor. There was no bar or coffee table; the cups and tea bags were just placed on top of the mini-fridge. Hotel parking isn't free, costing $25, unless you park on the street, but then you have to move your car by 9:30 AM. The bottom bunk of the bunk bed was so low you couldn't sit up without hitting your head. The breakfast, however, was decent. Check-out is before 10 AM, and breakfast ends at 10:30 AM at the latest.
This hotel is one of the better options in Kaikoura for whale watching. It offers free parking, and if the lot is full, you can also park for free on the roadside by the sea.
The restaurant downstairs is excellent. After whale watching, we didn't want to go far, so we just had dinner there.
As for the room, it's on par with domestic Quanji or Atour hotels, but not quite five-star. Still, for this area, you can't be too picky. It was clean and comfortable, which is what matters.
I had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Give Christchurch. The location is fantastic—just directly opposite the beautiful Christchurch Botanic Gardens, which is perfect for a relaxing walk.
Many of the main attractions are within walking distance, making it very convenient to explore the city without needing transport.
Overall, a comfortable and well-located hotel. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Christchurch.
The price was a bit high for the May Day holiday, at 2000 per night. We stayed in room 824, which is close to the main road of the town. When you open the balcony door, you're right across from the town's largest supermarket, and the lake view is fantastic. The downside is that it can be a bit noisy, though there aren't many cars at night. Check-in at the front desk required a $100 deposit. The room key is an actual key, and they provide a map showing where to park and how to get to your room. The room itself is quite spacious, almost like a mini-suite, with a dining table, sofa, and a fully equipped kitchen. The LG air conditioning worked very well. The 'king-size' bed was made up of two twin beds pushed together. This hotel seems to be part of the Accor group, so members likely have perks. The breakfast area also offers a great lake view.
The room is generally good, the facilities are a bit old, the chair is sunken, the bathroom door cannot be closed, the screw of the door handle is loose for a large part, and it feels like the door handle will fall off when you pull it hard.
This is a fantastic hotel. Due to flight issues, I checked in late at night, but the lobby was incredibly warm and comfortable, with a beautiful and pleasant atmosphere. The environment is truly outstanding. It faces a large park, offering lovely views, and the transportation is convenient as it's right in the city center and very close to the airport. The lobby fireplace was cozy, and the front desk staff were incredibly welcoming, treating guests like family. The room was very clean and tidy, hygienic, and comfortable. It was spacious, and the bedding was excellent – clean and very comfortable to use. The bathroom was great, and the room overall was very spacious, neat, bright, and grand. Everything felt relatively new. I would definitely stay here again next time. It offers great value for money.
Overseas rooms don't come with slippers, toothpaste, or toothbrushes, so you'll need to bring your own. Water isn't provided in the room either; you have to get it from the hallway, so it's a good idea to bring your own cup or water bottle. Other than that, it's pretty decent. It's within walking distance to the terminal, and the front desk staff are quite friendly. There's also a restaurant upstairs. The bed was comfortable, and I slept well. This place is better than the Novotel at Auckland Airport.
This hotel offers excellent value for money in Christchurch. It's about 7-8 kilometers from the airport, similar to a 'Home Inn' or 'JI Hotel' in China – well-equipped and comfortable. The front desk service was warm and patient. My child was sick, and when I requested a late check-out, the Caucasian gentleman at the front desk readily agreed. Thumbs up! 👍
Checking in was a bit of a hassle as we had to fill out an electronic form at the entrance. It would have been much smoother if we could have just done it directly with the front desk staff to speed things up. The hotel uses an electronic management system instead of physical keys, but it was hard to find the website for it. The toiletries were a high-end Antipodes brand, which was a nice touch. The best part is definitely the excellent location, super convenient for catching the Intercity bus.

Very Good
GGuest UserA decent hostel in a not-so-far location from the centre. The kitchen and common areas are specious enough and kept clean daily regardless of careless people that were not taught how to clean after themselves. There’s parking available free of charge which is great with an alternative to park on neighbouring streets if full. The beds are not the best, very wobbly and noisy when you turn or tried to climb up. Separate sockets and lights by each bed are great. There are lockers but you need your own bad lock. Staff was polite and friendly.
GGuest UserI was a bit disappointed. I was expecting this to be a 5 star place, but there were a lot of things that were definitely not 5 stars. The robes were grey and didn't cover bigger people. One of them had pilling all over it, I didn't want to even wear it. The bathroom door squeaked loudly, so if one person got up to the toilet in the middle of the night, it woke the other person up. There were instructions on how to use the spa bath, but not on how to put the plug in. It didn't just plug in normally. We weren't able to use it on our first night which was very frustrating as it was one of our main attractions. I rang housekeeping the next day. Someone came and had a look and said that you had to turn a know on the side of the spa, how would anyone know that? The lock on the door to outside was broken and a small slide lock had been put on. Why not fix the main lock? I used the toilets to the side of the library and when I washed my hands, the tap was all loose and wobbled round. All these things are little but show that the lodge needs to have things fixed or updated. For $300 per night, you expect the best. The worse thing was on our last morning, we got to breakfast about 8:45, the restaurant closes at 9:30 am. There was continental and scrambled eggs and bacon. At about 9:00 am they stopped bringing out anymore bread to toast. No more croissants, eggs or bacon were brought out. There were about 6 tables with guests and everyone kept going up and checking, but they didn't refill. People were saying, they must have run out of food! But for some reason the waiter kept lifting the lids to the egg and bacon to see what was in there, but of course there was nothing as he hadn't refilled it and he was the only waiter!! I was really disappointed and wouldn't recommend it, unless you are getting a really good discount.

WWenhaoyousifangThe room was spacious and well-equipped with amenities like a pot, range hood, and toaster. Booking early definitely saved me some money compared to booking 3-4 days before. The hotel's location is excellent, and the surroundings are beautiful (P2, P3). It's right in the heart of Christchurch, a 5-minute walk from the Avon River, and about a 10-15 minute walk to the Botanic Gardens entrance. I also walked to the city bus interchange. To get to the airport, you can take bus routes 8 or 29, which are also about an 8-minute walk away.
The front desk staff seemed to be Indian, and communication in English was smooth. I had a booking through Ctrip that suggested I change room types to get the lowest total price for two consecutive nights, which might have required me to switch rooms the next morning. I spoke with the front desk, and she patiently helped me stay in the higher-priced room for both nights (without switching rooms); I just needed to reactivate my key card the following morning.
After 10:30 PM, the hotel's front desk is unstaffed. If you check in too late, they will leave your room key in a coded box outside the main entrance and email you the code.
The only minor issue is that one of Christchurch's ******* is located next to the hotel (P1), about a 5-minute walk away. However, the security at night is actually fine (P4) – it's livelier than Auckland at night. I wandered around until 8:30 PM and didn't see anyone drunk on my way back to the hotel.

AAxinwukongThe location is fantastic! It's convenient for getting everywhere. The cathedral is right downstairs, and it's not far from the lakeside market or the Cardboard Cathedral, all within walking distance. The sightseeing bus stop is also close by, and the Avon River gondola rides are nearby too. Taking a taxi to the Botanic Gardens, the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts, and the art gallery isn't far either. Both New Brighton Pier and Sumner Beach are about 10 kilometers away by taxi, similar to the distance to the airport, and Uber fares are reasonable. Overall, I'm satisfied. Just a minor note, it seemed like the shampoo and other amenities weren't checked and might have run out without being noticed.
GGuest UserThis is a must-stay hotel when you visit Christchurch! The environment is lovely, and the food at the restaurant is absolutely delicious. The service is very attentive. I've stayed here many times already, and the cleanliness is always top-notch. Plus, it's really close to several attractions.
CCXRepeated stay, assigned room this time is not as great as our previous stay. Cleanliness of the balcony, living room and kitchen were subpar. Took out pots and plates that were not washed properly (oily, had stains) after previous use. Housekeeping came to service the room but we still found areas of mess that were untouched.
Overall, still a relatively good stay.
GGuest UserThe lodge is above my expectations, staff is good and friendly, room is spacious, clean, have microwave to heat some food, kettle is clean too. Well equipped. The food at the restaurant is nice and portion are big, we have a nice dinner there.
