Probably THE nicest ‘motel’we’ve stayed in as it really is a Motor Lodge type motel - parking around both sides of the building - park near your room - great finishes, clean and large sized room. Very comfortable! Close to good restaurants.
Very nice place and location excellent. When I first checked in, I was underwhelmed by the lack of help from the girl at reception. I asked her if there were any pumpkin patches locally and she told me to Google it. Another reception lady later gave me a whole list of local activities without even asking. The whip was lovely but the online menu is not the same as the one in the restaurant. There is no cheese board available for example. Parking was tough at times. Other than that the place was very nice and staff were lovely.
The soundproofing of the room is very poor, the sound of walking on the floor outside, the sound of music next door affects the morning sleep, the sofa bed is not comfortable at all, the sheets are thin and soft, I always feel unclean, I feel itchy when I sleep, the room space is not very small, and there is basically no service. So it is more general.

The surrounding area of the hotel is very convenient. It takes 5 minutes to walk to the most central shops and restaurants. There are various kinds of food, most of them are walking. Some old buildings are beautiful and there is a park. In addition, the hotel is only a few minutes away from the lake. View, there is a children’s museum by the lake, and you can go on a yacht. Every Friday night, there is a lobster buffet on the yacht. Living here is a very good choice for families and individuals.
The room was spacious, we also added a bed, there was a microwave, it was more convenient, the door was open to the grass, the garden, the environment was good, and the clear galaxy was seen at night.
The oldest small hotel in the town. It has a strong English style and ancient furniture. The photo is very warm.
We booked the room three months in advance and the hotel upgraded us. We were very satisfied👍
We had dinner at the restaurant on the first floor of the hotel at 7:30 in the evening. We originally wanted to have lobster pasta, but maybe we went late and there was no lobster. We changed it to beef pasta and it tasted the same👍
The portion of the dish is so large that it’s a waste if it can’t be eaten by two people…

I am giving only a 3/5 on service because when we arrived (after walking by the ”friendliest hotel in Vermont” sign) we were told unapologetically and stone-facedly by the young man at the desk that they ”would have called as a courtesy” but my ”location didn't come through the reservation system” that I can't stay there unless we've quarantined 14 days with no grocery shopping or visiting with family or friends. He said that Vermont's policy is that if your county has more than (some # I don't remember) active cases per million, you can't stay there. (Never mind that my county has only 130,000 people / 52 active cases -- so I guess they multiply to get the per Million number???) I had pre-paid for this room, so LUCKY FOR ME because I work from home and have no social life, I was able to stay. I never thought a thing of it when making the reservation as here in NH and Maine, all the radio ads say that Vermonters can visit ”without restriction” so it never occurred to me to check what Vermont had to say about us. I don't know if this is a Trip.com problem or a Comfort Inn problem --- But SOMEONE should be calling people. Imagine if you got turned away after a long trip?? And Rutland is ”Central” Vermont so it's probably at least 45 minutes to any state border if you need a new hotel.
Facilities: I give a 2/5 and again, not sure if this is Trip.com's fault or Comfort Inn's - but there is NO BREAKFAST due to covid. If you are like me and factor breakfast into the cost of a hotel, this would be helpful info. Yes, I knew they probably wouldn't have a buffet, but they could have done a little bag breakfast or a coupon to McDonald's (next door) or something to make up for the fact that they advertise something that they don't have. The indoor pool was also closed, which I anticipated. But again, that should be stated when booking - if I had little kiddos and they were looking forward to that and we found out it was closed on arrival, that would be bad. Incidentally, I work for a place in NH with an indoor pool and they open by appointment so only one family is in one area at a time - something to consider. Imagine the great reviews you'd get if a family could have private pool time on vacation!
That said, this hotel was renovated since last I stayed there. Ice was clean. Room was clean. Housekeeper was just as nice as she could be. The front desk lady on day 3 (checkout) was very nice too. Wifi was easy to access.
Lesson from this visit: Take it upon yourself to CALL THE HOTEL before arriving to find out protocols. Don't do the we-pick-the-hotel option on if you care about the amenities like breakfast and pool, because you won't be able to find out what's available before you find out what hotel you got.
Message to Comfort Inn: Reach out to people before they drive 4 hours to get there. And when they do get there, try to be nice and pleasant, that will get you a lot further.

PPorcupine12tradeBest hotel I have ever stayed in. The location is great and convenient, rooms are clean spacious and nicely deco. Most impressive, the staff are very friendly and helpful. My children and I stayed at AC mid December. We are so thankful and grateful for their help when our bus back to Boston did not turn up after a 2-3hr wait at the bus stop and it was -11degC in the evening. We had to wait for another 7hr for the next available bus. We needed a warm place to wait in and we decided to head back to AC hotel, hoping to wait at the lobby. The young lady at the reception was sympathetic and kindly suggested we rest at the lounge and make ourselves comfortable. the staff at the lounge after hearing about our situation came over to offer snacks and gave advice about our bus. Shortly after, the young lady at the reception offered us a room so we can rest better till we could catch the next available bus. Thanks to AC hotel staff, they made our wait so much more comfortable and turned an unfortunate event into a heart warming experience.

GGuest UserNot my first time staying here nor will it be my last. The rooms are simple but just what I'm looking for when in the area. They have a sauna, indoor pool, and an outdoor hot tub. The property is up against a creek and they have a couple places with fire pits right by it. During the ski season there is also a bar downstairs that's a cool place to hang. The small lodges on the edge of the property are really cool and comfortable too!
AAnonymous UserWe really enjoyed our stay here. It felt very homey. Price was just a bit steep than usual probably since we booked this last minute during peak foliage when almost everything was already fully booked in Vermont. They take your breakfast orders upon checkin. There's also a restaurant next door.
PPhuong1039The front desk person Maria was so nice and so was security/ shuttle driver Scott (?). Such friendly staff eas appreciated after a long trip and late check in. The room was very clean and you can tell that the property was well maintained.

GGuest UserWe paid almost $500 per night & realized shortly there after this place typically goes for around $150. Not sure why the major price gouge. It's definitely more of a $150.00 price point. Spa was packed with kids not even staying at the hotel. Bubbles didn't work in the spa. Bathroom floor had hair on it upon check as well as what looked like pillow stuffing on the carpet. The restaurant menu looked amazing, but we tried it first day of the menu change which didn't go so well. They must have been overwhelmed, which left us underwhelmed. We paid for the lake view upgrade, but our room was right in front of trees, so we could hardly see the lake at all. (something they should tell you when you pay the upgrade). I will say the location was great & the front desk staff was super friendly. But I would not pay almost $2000 for a three night stay here again. We've paid less for 5 star hotels.
GGuest UserWe arrived late but the inn keeper (Vince) was so helpful, understanding and accommodating. Refreshing to find such great service. The room was clean and neat. Quaint little place. Love it! Will recommend 👍🏼
