Hong Kong Massage Guide: Types, Prices & Where to Go

Between elegant luxury spas on Victoria Harbour and historic foot reflexology centres, the range of massages in Hong Kong is among the most varied in Asia. Ranging from traditional Tui Na to holistic treatments in exclusive five-star hotels, this Trip.com guide helps you choose the massage centre in Hong Kong best suited to your needs.

💖 Best Massages in Hong Kong: Types & Treatments

In Hong Kong, the tradition of Chinese medicine meets Southeast Asian influences and the contemporary wellness of major international spas. The result is a wide and diverse offering.

Foot reflexology: the traditional ritual of historic massage centres

Foot reflexology

Foot reflexology perfectly represents the local wellness culture. Foot massage, also known as Zúliáo, is practised throughout the city, especially in the historic massage centres of Wan Chai and Causeway Bay. For those wishing to enjoy an authentic experience, it remains one of the best foot massages in Hong Kong today.

Tui Na: the antidote to city stress

Among Chinese massages in Hong Kong, Tui Na is one of the most popular and appreciated traditional treatments. Through deep pressure, joint mobilisation, and targeted manipulation, it helps to relieve stiffness and improve mobility. It is particularly suitable for those suffering from neck, shoulder, and back discomfort. Many spas also offer deep tissue massage in Hong Kong, which is ideal for working on deep-seated tissues.

Tui Na massage

Gua Sha and cupping: traditional Cantonese techniques

Gua Sha and cupping

Among the various types of Chinese massage in Hong Kong inspired by traditional medicine, Gua Sha and cupping hold a prominent place in the city's wellness offerings. The former is performed by gliding a jade stone over the skin with controlled movements, while the latter uses suction cups that create a gentle vacuum effect on the skin. Both techniques promote the body's rebalancing and help to relieve fatigue with short treatments of about 15-20 minutes.

Head massage: the secret to local wellness

Often offered as a complement to other treatments, head massage in Hong Kong is particularly popular with both residents and travellers. It focuses on the scalp, temples, neck, and shoulders, helping to relieve tension, fatigue, and minor stress-related ailments. It is also ideal for those who spend many hours in front of a computer.

Full body and Hot Stone massage

Full body and Hot Stone massage
 body massage

In high-end spas, a full-body massage in Hong Kong is an experience that goes beyond a simple treatment. These establishments combine holistic journeys, hot stones, and slow, enveloping movements that promote deep relaxation. The elegant surroundings and spectacular views of the city transform the session into a moment of authentic relaxation. Many establishments also offer the Hot Stone version, using heated volcanic stones to ease tension and improve circulation.

Thai massage with herbal compresses

Although not part of the Chinese tradition, Thai massage is now a well-established presence in the city's wellness offerings. The best Thai massages in Hong Kong combine passive stretching and acupressure with warm herbal compresses, prepared with ingredients such as lemongrass, ginger, and turmeric. It is worth choosing if you want to improve flexibility and release joint stiffness.

Thai massages

Aromatherapy in iconic spas

Aromatherapy in Hong Kong

Aromatherapy massage in Hong Kong is one of the signature treatments at spas hosted in luxury hotels. More than just a simple massage, it is a true wellness journey, where essential oils, refined surroundings, and facilities such as a sauna, steam room, and hot tub blend into a single rejuvenating experience.

Couples' massage in rooms with a view

Many spas also offer couples' massages in Hong Kong, with treatments in private cabins. In addition to massages, many packages include access to a sauna, swimming pool and wellness areas, allowing you to spend a few hours dedicated to well-being. It is a suitable solution for celebrating an anniversary, a honeymoon or treating yourself to a special break.

Couples' massages

💆 Which treatment to choose: If you have stiff muscles after your flight, a deep tissue massage in Hong Kong is the ideal option for easing deep-seated tension. If, on the other hand, you want to relax after a day of sightseeing or recover from jet lag, an aromatherapy massage in Hong Kong or a full-body massage are more suitable. Foot reflexology is excellent for relieving tiredness after hours of walking.

For this price, the hotel's location is quite good. The room is relatively clean, hygienic, and odor-free. Although the room is small, it provides shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, a hairdryer, hangers, and a mini-fridge. I recommend bringing your own slippers, toothbrush, and toothpaste (you can buy a toothbrush and toothpaste at the hotel for 1 HKD, which is not expensive). Also, bring your own UK adapter. The hotel staff isn't overly enthusiastic but tries their best to meet guests' requests. There's a 7-Eleven downstairs, and not far away, there's a ParknShop and DS Groceries supermarket opening soon, as well as a local tea restaurant (bing sutt). It's also very convenient to get to Victoria Harbour!

A returning guest here! I'm not sure if it's because of the summer holiday, but it seems like all departments are so busy that some of the hygiene details aren't as good as before. As soon as I entered the room, before I even touched the bed, I found a short hair on the bedsheet (I have long hair, so it couldn't have been mine). Also, later that night, I wanted a drink and ordered some glasses, but they were incredibly dirty, as if they hadn't been washed at all (luckily, I hadn't had a drink yet). I hope these details can be followed up and improved.

The location is fantastic, with plenty of dining options nearby and convenient shopping. We could easily drop off our purchases at the hotel before heading out to eat or continue exploring. The hotel is also very close to the subway, making it easy to get anywhere. The newly renovated room was spacious enough. All in all, we were quite satisfied.

Amenities: They provide complimentary bottled water, tea bags, and even a universal adapter, which was very convenient. Cleanliness: The room was clean and hygienic, very satisfying. Environment: Clean and comfortable. Service: A big shout-out to the front desk lady! She was so nice and upgraded our room when she saw I was with two small children. Other staff members also greeted us whenever they saw us.

Mong Kok Hong Kong|0.18km from city centre
A few years ago, I visited Hong Kong and stayed at Cordis for the first time, absolutely loving it. This time around, there was no question, I chose Cordis again. It's in a prime Mong Kok location, super convenient for transportation and shopping. The hotel lobby connects directly to Langham Place, and just outside, you'll find SaSa, Mannings, DONKI, and Matsukiyo. Famous local eateries like Fei Jie and 18 Seats Doggy Noodles are also within a 10-minute walk. Langham Place's basement connects to the MTR Tsuen Wan Line, offering direct access to Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Central without any transfers. The hotel has been open for about ten years or so, and it's generally well-maintained, though of course, it can't compare to a brand new hotel – that's a matter of personal preference. A pleasant surprise this time was finding ice machines in the hallway on our floor. The room facilities are quite comprehensive, though having to stand in the bathtub for a shower is a minor drawback. The bedding is very comfortable, especially the pillows; I slept incredibly well. The front desk staff are all very nice, communicating in Mandarin, offering cold towels, and proactively greeting guests. However, the ground floor staff didn't offer to help with luggage proactively, which was a slight oversight. All in all, if you're looking for ultimate convenience, choosing Cordis is definitely the right decision.

The accessibility and value for money here are truly outstanding. It's directly connected to Mong Kok East MTR station and MOKO mall, so you can go from the subway to the hotel entirely indoors, which is perfect for the rainy season – no worries about getting wet while eating, drinking, or having fun. The overall environment and cleanliness are also commendable. The room was spacious by Hong Kong standards, and I got upgraded to the executive floor, which offered a great view.

The location is excellent, right outside the subway exit. It's just one stop from West Kowloon, and you can walk to Tsim Sha Tsui. Although it's an older hotel, the room facilities are a bit dated, but it's clean and hygienic with an 'old money' vibe. The front desk lady, Polly, upgraded our room for free, which made our stay very comfortable. Later, another front desk staff member in the evening helped us get a late check-out, which was incredibly thoughtful! Plus, I discovered that the nearby parking lot offers overnight parking for only 98! For drivers coming from Guangdong, this hotel is a great option. I'm already planning to drive here next time.

This is my second stay here this year, and it's still great. The hotel's shuttle bus goes to the subway station and nearby malls, which is super convenient. There's a phone, notepad, and a ready-to-watch TV by the bed – I love that traditional hotel feel. Most importantly, no one asked me for a good review! I gave it a good review because I genuinely liked it.

I stayed at the L'hotel Nina et Convention Centre over ten years ago and found it quite remote back then. This time, I chose it again for a Disney trip with my child, and the front desk upgraded us to a high-floor room. We took the Eternal East Bus directly from Shenzhen Bay Port to the Nina Tower bus stop, and the hotel lobby is right past the glass doors. Now, I find the location incredibly convenient, with a lively neighborhood vibe. The covered walkways connecting to nearby malls are a huge plus, and there's a farmers' market right across the street with affordable fruit. There are also plenty of shops and street-side dining options. The hotel rooms are spacious, and having two 1.5-meter beds is a true luxury in Hong Kong.

The front desk lady was very professional and communicated perfectly. We booked two rooms and she even upgraded one of them to the same floor for free, which was very thoughtful. It can get a bit sunny when the weather is good 😆, but the distant sea view is quite pleasant.

The room was as advertised, and the cleaning staff and day staff are very friendly and able to help with any needs. The breakfast was fresh and filling with a good mix of both Chinese and Western foods. The lounge and laundry on the 2nd floor was also pleasant to sit in while waiting for laundry to finish but the dryer is set to very small loads and therefore our clothes did not dry. The only solution is to pay for another round if you have time to spare. There is no clothes line in the room. The shuttle bus was excellent! The Olympic metro station is about 15 minutes walk away. Stay green and receive a coupon for the vending machine! It was nice to receive something for doing what we would normally do!

The breakfast was plentiful and catered well to the tastes of travelers from various regions. The staff members were all very friendly, and the hotel's location is excellent, being a mere ten-minute walk to Victoria Harbour and situated in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui. The bathtub is relatively low, making it easy for seniors to enter, and it's equipped with a non-slip mat and a grab bar on the wall to assist with standing up. The deposit is one thousand Hong Kong dollars, payable by cash or credit card. If paid in cash, you receive the refund upon check-out; I paid by credit card, and the front desk said it would take 2-4 weeks to process. Nowadays, travelers rarely carry so much cash, and waiting almost a month for a deposit refund is truly inconvenient. I hope this can be improved. Also, I've seen many reviews stating that no deposit was charged, so I'm unsure what the standard policy is regarding deposit collection.

The location is fantastic, right next to Tin Hau, in a very local neighborhood. It's quiet but not isolated, and if my booking hadn't been non-refundable, I would have definitely extended my stay. There are great food options nearby, like Wah So's Clear Broth Beef Brisket and the Black Sesame Ice Cream from Warm Heart Cheese. The service attitude, from the lobby to the doorman, was very kind and friendly. The room was small but had everything you needed. The bed was a bit short though, my 170cm kid's feet were hanging off the end! But overall, it was a good stay.

Tsuen Wan Hong Kong|7.01km from city centre
The transportation is inconvenient. The hotel's earliest shuttle bus is at 7:30 AM, which isn't that early. It leaves promptly, and for mainland tourists who don't understand Cantonese, the service in Hong Kong can be impatient. They just blurt everything out in Cantonese, and you can't understand or react in time. Later, I learned my lesson. Without them even prompting me, I'd just stand by the door and hop on any bus I saw. The first time, the bus left right in front of me, and I had to take a taxi, which made me very angry. Getting an invoice at the end was also a hassle. Initially, they told me I could get one, but when I was leaving, they refused. They told me to contact the Ctrip platform, but I had already paid the full amount in cash upon check-in, so the platform definitely wouldn't issue it. We argued for quite a while before they finally gave it to me, wasting my morning. This hotel's transportation is extremely inconvenient. I wouldn't recommend it for individual travelers unless you're driving yourself or part of a tour group.

This has to be the best value-for-money hotel I've stayed at in Hong Kong so far. I especially loved the beach downstairs, just sitting there quietly watching the young guys playing beach volleyball so seriously. It felt like that's exactly how young people should spend their summer holidays! The hotel room had a sea view, which was fantastic and very quiet. While the room facilities aren't the most modern, they met all our needs. The shuttle bus was also very convenient; you just go down the stairs from MTR Exit C, and that's where the shuttle bus waits. I chose to stay in Tsuen Wan this time because it's close to Disneyland, and I found it to be very lively and great for exploring. All in all, I'll definitely come back and stay again, and next time I'll bring my swimsuit!

North Point and Quarry Bay Hong Kong|4.24km from city centre
Overall, the hotel left a good impression. Everything was very clean, the hotel is modern, and the service was good. During our trip, we stayed at about five non-international chain hotels, and almost everywhere, upon our request and if rooms were available, we were given an upgrade. Unfortunately, at this particular Hyatt, we encountered difficulties with this. We requested a higher floor room as we were very tired from our journey and wanted a quieter room due to street noise. We were denied and only offered a paid upgrade, even though rooms in other categories were available. This was a bit disappointing, especially considering our previous experiences at other Hyatt hotels. I'd like to specifically mention the pool. We chose this hotel partly because of it, but when we arrived around 9 PM, there were many small children jumping from the sides and splashing vigorously. As a result, instead of a relaxing time after a long day, we felt uncomfortable. In my opinion, the hotel should consider implementing specific hours for families with small children, for example, until 6-8 PM, and make the pool an adult-only zone or for older children (e.g., 14-16 years and up) during later hours. Also, at the front desk, we wanted to exchange dollars. We were told we could only exchange $50, but the bill was ultimately not accepted, and they also refused to give change from a $100 bill. Perhaps a more convenient currency exchange system for guests should be considered. Overall, the hotel is good: modern, clean, and comfortable. However, some aspects of the service and pool organization, in my opinion, do not meet the standards one expects from a Hyatt.

To celebrate our anniversary, the hotel upgraded my city-view room to a racecourse-view room. The racecourse view was magnificent, and I imagine it would be even more exciting on a Wednesday race day. Due to environmental considerations, you need to bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste, but you can also buy them at the hotel for a very reasonable $1. Regarding the location, you need to use the underground tunnel from the hotel entrance to reach Wan Chai and Causeway Bay, which takes about ten to fifteen minutes.
