A great hotel with highly qualified, available and very friendly staff. We had a small room problem on the first night, remembered, the second night gave us another room, but it was smaller than the first, impossible for two people. The third night, in the new part, New Lisbon Style, we had a spacious, beautiful room! We've already made it in voice before we leave, but I want to make this public. Thank you, thank you and thank you all. PS: in September two of my friends will come, I will contact you x book a room for them. Advice to all this location! It is central, beautiful, has all the comforts possible, very clean, very equipped, a good breakfast and overabundant. Susanna and Paul (Livorno)

Excellent value for money: wonderful staff very helpful, good location near metro station Arroios which takes you within 5 min to the center. WIFI OK, bathroom very convenient, quiet at night ... There are 2 supermarkets near the hotel, a coffee shop with Portuguese specialties and opposite to the hotel, an excellent Portuguese cuisine restaurant called Portugal. Around 7 minutes far by food, there is an amazing small Italian restaurant called El Giardenitto, tasty to the max... try the Risotto.

Beautiful place to stay! We loved that it was right next to a metro and bus stop for easy transportation. It was very quiet and comfortable. We especially loved the breakfast options! The coffee from the machine was delicious (don't knock it till you try it!) and the traditional Portuguese pastries were quite good.

I cannot stress how disappointed I am with the Esquina Urban Lodge. Imagine how unhappy we were when we arrived to find reception area with no elevator on the ground floor. You need to carry your luggage up a flight of stairs to the elevator. The lobby was so bleak, we had no place to sit while waiting for a transport later that week. The marketing of the property is beautiful, but clearly does not represent the product that exists. The team of Luana and Evgenia are stars. They bring light to a dark and depressing property. If we only read the Google reviews, we would never have booked the property. Once we arrived, we were in nonrefundable situation, so we stayed. We actually left the property to go to Porto overnight so that we can get away from the room. The room in Porto only highlighted the problems with the facility. The website did not reflect the dreary reception, depressing hallway, and poorly decorated room. We lived through dimly lit hallways, construction noise, an elevator broken one day and the morning we left there was a garbage bag in the reception first thing to greet us as we headed out for our morning coffee.

Fantastic accommodation for what we needed which was just a bed and roof over out heads for the 3nights we were there. Upon arrival we were greeted by various staff who were so friendly and made us feel welcome. The place is basic but all you need is a bed and hot water to have a shower when you are in such a prime location and will be out all day/night doing the tourist rounds. There is a kitchen if you need which we used to make tea in the mornings, but also equipped with microwave, fridge cutlery, stove etc if you need it. The location is second to none with lots of restaurants nearby and not far of a walk from the center. There are various modes of transport on your door step as well as the airport only being a 20min drive away and lots of tourist spots nearby. Only one issue is the bathroom door which was a bit temperamental but myself and my friend sharing didn't have an issue as the room was well ventilated and also had a lovely little balcony. I would recommend this place and would defo stay again if in town. Thank you toball the lovely staff again we couldn't have asked for more on out budget!

Never have I ever seen a hotel like this. Checked in and checked back out within an hour or so. Booked to stay with my partner and was given room 603 which ended up being a ‘twin room with balcony’ which was jammed shut and the door looking very very old. The corridor to the room was in pitch black with the chain ripped off the door so how you’re expected to sleep easy knowing anyone could try the door is beyond me. Room 603 was covered in mould, had a musty damp smell that felt suffocating, some sort of shower with what looked like a bidet at the bottom of it which was dirty. We couldn’t bare to stay there even for a night as our skin was crawling! We didn’t dare pull the covers back as the walls were covered in damp and water and the bedsheets were also soaking wet! Very very disappointed, we were offered another room but the full place looked disgusting so we checked out and paid an extra €300 after paying for 4 nights at the residencial to move to a hotel that we could actually sleep in without worrying about being bitten by something or being broken into. I never write reviews but please everyone be warned, this place is NOT WORTH THE MONEY.

BEWARE: rats, incompetence and insecurity Let me start by saying: I have been to many hotels, campsites, hostels, etc. throughout Europe, but what happened goes beyond all limits of hygiene, personal safety and common sense. When we returned to the room at 11.30pm we noticed the presence of a RAT. We mentioned this to the staff at reception and they told us that he was doing NOTHING and that he was going home. He contacted his manager who told us to go to another facility. By now it was 00:00 on a Saturday in August, the hotels were either full or the check-ins were closed therefore he literally left us in the middle of the ROAD without worrying about our SAFETY and not answering the telephone provided on Booking. The area is quite SAD, plus the entrance door must always be left open with people of dubious recommendation passing through. Plus the hygiene is overall poor, there is a strong smell coming from the stairs and after what happened they made this the WORST experience of MY LIFE in an accommodation facility. ATTENZIONE: topi, incompetenza e insicurezza Premetto: sono stato in moltissimi hotel, campeggi, ostelli, ecc di tutta Europa, ma quanto successo va oltre ogni limite di igene, sicurezza personale e buonsenso. Rientrati nella stanza alle 23:30 ci accorgiamo della presenza di un RATTO. Lo abbiamo fatto presente al personale in reception e ci ha detto che lui non faceva NIENTE e che se ne sarebbe andato a casa. Ha contattao il suo responsabile che ci ha detto di andarcene in un'altra struttura. Ormai era 00:00 di un sabato di Agosto, gli hotel o erano pieni o i check-in chiusi pertanto ci ha letteralmente lasciato in mezzo alla STRADA senza preoccuparci della nostra SICUREZZA e non rispondendo al telefono fornito su Booking. La zona è abbastanza MALFAMATA, in piu il portone di ingresso va lasciato sempre aperto con passaggio di persone di dubbia raccomandazione. In più l'igene è complessivamente scarsa, c'è forte odore proveniente dalle scale e dopo quanto successo hanno reso questa l'esperienza PEGGIORE DELLA MIA VITA in una struttura ricettiva.

I'm so glad we chose Pensao Praca da Figueira for our trip. We booked a quadruple room with a private bath. I was very pleasantly surprised by some of the small details in the room, in particular the charging outlets next to the beds, the amazing shutters and blackout curtains that WORKED, and the mini fridge. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was perfect. The room itself was adjacent to the lobby and breakfast area, but I could barely hear any of the noise. The breakfast itself (which you need to reserve a spot for the night prior) did the trick. The staff were very helpful, including the time when my daughter snuck out of the room one afternoon(!) The location was better and more convenient than I expected. The only downside is that, at a minimum, your room is up at least one flight of stairs, so keep that in mind if you have mobility issues.

A small cozy Guesthouse not far from the center. We were there one night and we felt very well! For the price absolutely recommendable!

We stayed here for 5 nights in an apartment with private bathroom. When we were first shown in I was a bit surprised as the floors are unfinished and literally just cement but apart from this the place was quite nice. The bathroom, kitchenette and bedroom were all clean which was the main thing. We had clean bedding and towels. The shower was good, not amazing but fine. The location is ideal as others have mentioned. Breakfast is in a little cafe across the square which is a choice of 1 out of 3 different croissants, a custard tart, a glass of juice and an espresso. They do lots of other things but if you want anything else you have to pay for it. Overall I felt it was a good place for the price and I would stay again.

I just returned from a wonderful vacation at Solar Dos Poetas, and I can’t say enough good things about my stay! The location is absolutely amazing, nestled in a picturesque area that made exploring the sights a breeze. Everything I wanted to see in the city was either within walking distance or just a short trip away. One of the highlights of my stay was the incredible staff. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and friendliness. The team went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Their local recommendations were spot on and really enhanced my experience. Breakfast was another fantastic part of my visit! Each morning, I enjoyed a delicious spread that included fresh pastries, fruits, and a variety of options that catered to different tastes. It was the perfect start to my day and gave me the energy I needed for my adventures. Overall, Solar Dos Poetas exceeded all my expectations. With its exceptional location, outstanding customer service, and delightful breakfast, I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. I can’t wait to come back and experience it all over again! Highly recommended!

Emilia is charming, cozy and very clean place, you can rest very well. It is in an area with a lot of public transportation nearby and it is easy to get around the area. If you have any questions, Emilia will have no problem helping you. 10/10

The hotel is very close to the railway station, and it is easy to find it according to the navigation. The outside courtyard is beautiful, and the lobby and public areas are also beautiful. However, because it is an old house, there is no elevator, and if you live on a high floor, you have to carry your suitcase to go up. This is basically the problem in hotels where you live in old houses in Portugal. We booked a suite with a small loft and a small balcony outside the loft with a nice view. Breakfast is their own coffee shop, not with the place where they live, it is very close, less than 5 minutes. Breakfast is Western style, with bread, cheese, desserts, fruits, a cup of juice and coffee per person, which is quite hearty.

The room was nice and tidy, the staff was very lovely and helpful, breakfast was good and the sourroundings very beatiful (i had been to sintra and the cost). I was there by car and found it usefull, i don't know how good the bus connections are...

Quiet and super comfortable bed & room with a Scandi touch. Lovely abundant breakfast and great care for every detail, including dietary requirements. The honesty basket with wine and treats is very cute - they close reception at 10pm at the moment. Great for a proper solo/couple switch off and rest from travels & the big city! Loved the fact there’s no TV anywhere and the WIFi is fast. I’d chose it again for remote working in the winter sun with the ocean right there. The cliff walks are abundant, great value in the local restaurants (I’ve been to Água e Sal three days in a row!!) and of course fascinating Sintra nearby. If you’re looking for scenic drives by the ocean and exploring the region, yes it’s best to have a car, but for a proper switch off, it’s fine with bus and train also - the staff knows it all. Well worth it! 😊

We had a very pleasant stay at Casa Holstein. The hotel is set in large, expansive grounds, with little hidden paths one can explore. There's even a beautiful peacock who wanders around. The hotel is contained in an old estate and has a bygone sense of charm. Our room was very large and comfortable. The bathrooms (we had two) were very spacious and well appointed. The shower was excellent. The host was very pleasant and available to help and answer questions. They served breakfast at the hotel. Highly recommend!

This is a perfect little spot for being a few blocks to the center of Sintra, yet a little off as to not get all the noise. The hostess here, Dulce, is a very kind, caring woman. My phone fell into the sink and stopped working. I travel alone and had no information to my next place. Dulce took the time to sit with me, let me use her personal phone and assured me that everything would be okay. She did absolutely everything she could for me. This is the place you want to stay if you are traveling alone and need assistance within daytime hours. Not sure about night but I am confident they would help within their capability. Please note, the houses are very old and you can hear the people above you. There was an elephant staying above me so, PLEASE be aware of the people below when you walk across the room. Or ask for a top floor ~ all stairs. I also wish there was a small fridge in the room. Overall, an excellent place to stay with caring people there to welcome you and bid you farewell. I would highly recommend staying here if not having a fridge isn't an issue.

We fell in love with this hotel when we first visited in 2022, and we returned with my aunt and uncle for now our third stay. As usual, everything was outstanding. Spectacular views, incredibly friendly and warm staff, over the top breakfasts, lovely evening wine and cheese service…. And we were happy to be reunited with our peacock friends! The only problem is that this hotel is too beautiful, too perfect… and no other hotel can compare (my aunt complained bitterly for the rest of our Portugal trip that our subsequent hotels just did not live up to the standard set by Sintra Marmoris Palace!) My wife and I stayed for three nights at the start of March and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is great: easy to find and a 3-minute walk from the main square in the historic centre but nonetheless in a very quiet area. We booked the ‘suite with private terrace and balcony’ which was huge and exactly as pictured on the website, clean and bright with lovely large windows and patio doors. Because the house sits on a hill, the room was at ground level at the front but at first floor level at the rear and it was reassuring that, I assume for security reasons, the windows accessible from the street could not be opened. The room had a large TV with Netflix available. Water pressure in the bathroom was very good and lovely soap, shampoo and conditioner were provided. (The only watch out is the water pressure can easily blow out the shower curtain, so water ends up on the bathroom floor. Still, you only make that mistake once.) The breakfast was buffet style and taken in the kitchen or the room next to it and it does feel like you’re in a family house. The food was lovely, with hot scrambled eggs, beans and sausages, along with coffee, juice, toast and pastries, cereals etc. available. They also make snacks, wine and beer available in the kitchen overnight and operate this on an honesty-book basis. This is really convenient if you’re really tired after a day of sightseeing. The host Karen was really welcoming, friendly and helpful, as was her assistant Bianca (who we saw most of as she seemed to be receptionist, housekeeper, chef, waitress etc, all rolled into one!) This is a guest house rather than a hotel so bear that in mind for the level of services - there’s no 24 reception for example. However Karen is accessible by WhatsApp and she replied quickly when we had a question about car parking on Saturday evening. We arrived by train (less than an hour from central Lisbon and dirt cheap - about €3) and the walk from the station is easy along pleasant roads and takes about 15 minutes. We got a hire car part way through our stay and used the car parking token (payable) from the guest house for parking in the Old Town. Even though visiting in low season, we were very lucky to find a space so plan carefully if you are intending to drive to the historic centre of Sintra. It’s also worth noting that Sintra has its own microclimate with relatively high humidity which means it can feel quite damp and there is often a lot of cloud and mist, even in summer. (Anyone with a respiratory condition might want to do some research.) Given the time of year we visited, this meant our room felt quite cold whenever we arrived but the air con unit was effective and warmed it up very quickly. Also, even though there is modern double glazing, there can still be some condensation on the windows in the morning so don’t leave things on the windowsill overnight as they could get damp. Myself and my 4 year old son stayed here for a weekend, and it was fantastic! We received excellent communication from the front desk via email as we arrived after check in, which meant we could get straight up to our room upon arrival. It's in a great location, and has modern, clean, fresh décor and super friendly staff. The bed was comfortable, bathroom spacious and A/C. There was plenty of extra bedding in the cupboards too which meant you could change the sheet for a duvet if the weather suddenly changed. The breakfast was a good price, and great continental selection; my son ate everything in sight, and they even went above and beyond to make him pancakes as a treat! There was an honesty bar available throughout the day too for any quick snacks or drinks which was reasonably priced. There's a local grocery shop, pharmacy, café and restaurants all 5mins walk away too which is so useful when travelling with children. Sintra itself was beautiful, my son loved the views, visiting Quinta da Regaleira and spotting the 'castles!' on top of the hills. Do be aware Sintra has a micro climate so the weather can be breezy and cooler than expected! Thank you to all the staff and friendly guests for making us feel so at home, and 100% recommend this lovely hotel.

Sintra Marmoris Camelia Hotel is a lovely small boutique hotel located in old Sintra within walking distance to the sights. The rooms are unique, large, well-appointed with stunning décor, large bathrooms, with stunning views of the castle and greenbelt. The location is perfect! The concierge will help plan a nice day of sightseeing, transportation or dinning in the area. They are extremely helpful always greeting you with a smile and willingness to help. Breakfast was yummy and is made to order in a lovey setting either inside or outside on the patio. In the afternoon, their sister property offers wine tasting for the guests at both properties.
