A great budget-friendly stay in Zhangye! We had a private twin room. The room was simple but cute, with rather hard Asian-style beds (which was fine for us). It's very central and surrounded by food spots and shops. Loved the traveler vibe here; easy to meet friends. The hostel organizes affordable, well-planned tours, and the English-speaking staff were super helpful. Highly recommend for backpackers!

Everything was perfect. The lady who welcome us was so friendly, helpful and welcoming. We had a nice private room with our own bathroom and air conditioned. The room was clean, with a big bed and a small desk. The very friendly lady from the reception organize for us a trip to Danxia rainbow mountain for a very good price. We also did our laundry at the hotel. The price of the room is great and for sure if we come back to Zhangye, we will come back to this hotel. This hostel is really lovely. The owners are so friendly and helpful. There are a lot of personal touches in the common areas, especially in the large sitting room. There’s space for washing and drying clothes, as well as filtered water available. I had a room with private bath, that was nicely appointed with lots of thoughtful details. I would certainly stay here again!

This is a special hostel where you can meet camels nearby and admire the sand dunes at any time! The view of the sand dunes from the rooftop was beautiful. The common areas were also stylish and relaxing. The area around the hostel is dark at night, and there may be camel droppings on the ground, so be careful. Other than that, I highly recommend it!

For a start, it is now called the Herdsman Lodge. It is up one flight of steps from the street, no lift. Someone has obviously spent a fair amount of time and attention on the look of the place, but there are some things which would make staying here a better experience. The beds in the capsule are really hard (worse than on a Chinese train) and squeal every time you move. The capsules themselves look nice, but some of the plastic is a bit flimsy. They did supply toilet paper, but if you don't like squat toilets, you're out of luck. The shower cubicles are tiny, I don't know how to shower without getting my clothes wet. There is a drinks fridge, but no drinks are in it, and no water is supplied or available. The water boiler in the kitchen runs out at some stage in the evening. Big tip: turn left out the door, go to the intersection, turn left and cross the road - the #4 bus goes to the Great Wall Scenic area, where you can see the fort, but not the wall.

Stayed for one night and felt pretty good! I want to say that my idea is that it may be the kind of cabin where I usually live in the Youth Hostel. This time I fell asleep and felt that there was a side curtain, but the two beds were all-out. I felt that there was no privacy. I was a little uncomfortable. I hope the boss will ask for the opinions of the occupants. Add a track and install a curtain above the connection of the two beds. , others are quite satisfied!

Lady boss is incredibly friendly and we had a great time together eating and chatting. Location is right outside the ancient city and walking distance to the museum. You would have to take a cab here.

Very good. Since I arrived in Lanzhou late, I don’t know much about entering the community. The landlord even remotely guided me how to get in late at night. I’m so sorry. The landlord is very nice. I can’t describe it better. The environment is also very good. Yes, it’s quiet and not noisy, you can have a good sleep, it’s very tidy, and it’s a five-star review!

We temporarily increased the price and switched to a river view room. Opposite is the Yellow River and next to the mosque. The location is very good and the transportation is convenient. We basically rely on walking to visit the scenic spots. We have no fault in terms of cleanliness. I am used to staying in star-rated hotels or I don't care about the accommodation. People with high requirements should not stay here. The boss is quite nice and recommended delicious food to us.
