Xining is a fantastic, vibrant city, and my biggest regret is not staying longer; it deserves way more time than just a quick transit stop thanks to its incredible food scene, night markets, and laid-back vibe. During my visit, I stayed at LETE Hostel, which serves as a solid, character-rich base for exploring the region. The top-floor communal space has real history and soul, beautifully flooded with sunlight, packed with green plants, a massive library, and even three cute resident birds. The ladies at the front desk are incredibly kind-hearted and welcoming, always doing their best to help out. Location-wise, it’s perfect - super convenient for the night markets, local food stalls, and bus stops, plus they offer safe bike storage for cyclists. For the price of a private room, the value and hospitality here are unbeatable, and I would absolutely stay again - and next time, I’ll be giving Xining the full week it deserves.

The hostel boasts an excellent location on Xinghai Road. My taxi driver told me it's a popular street for locals, bustling with street food and restaurants. (After two nights, I can confirm this observation!) I arrived close to 11 PM, and the male owner who checked me in was incredibly helpful, even carrying my heavy luggage to the second floor. He also added me to the hostel's WeChat group, which is great for travel info. The group announcement even has a detailed hostel introduction and a food guide – impressive! As for the room, I booked a 10-bed dorm but was kindly upgraded to a 6-bed dorm – thank you, owner! The room isn't huge, but it's very clean. There's a laundry room on the second floor, and a small open-air balcony where you can hang clothes or just relax (I heard there's a larger, proper drying area on the top floor, but I didn't go, so I can't confirm). The only slight disappointment was the women's communal bathroom on the second floor. It had an unpleasant odor, and the biggest issue was how narrow the individual stalls were. They have Western-style toilets, and the toilets themselves were quite dirty. When using the toilet, your head tends to hit the door because it's so cramped. There's a sign saying it's going to be renovated soon, and I really hope they improve it! There are also two communal toilets on the first floor, which are more spacious and have squat toilets, which are more common for Chinese people. This definitely makes up for the shortcomings of the toilets on the second floor.

Great location, helpful staff and clean rooms. The only improvement that could be made is the room temperature. It was boiling hot and there was no way to control it.

The location is fantastic, right near Xining Railway Station, making travel super convenient. Even though it's a hostel, the cleanliness is top-notch, and the bedding is spotless. There are plenty of great food options nearby, and the recommendations from the owner were excellent! The owner is really enthusiastic and provided very detailed local tips. For this price in this area, the value for money is unbeatable, perfect for backpackers and students. I'll definitely come back next time!

Enjoyed my stay at this hostel because of its vibes. Some people are just more suited as hosts than others, and the young boss of this hostel is certainly one such. Helpful, respectful, and with a sense of humour. The last picture is of the boss with us three guests - a Chinese, a Singaporean and a Japanese guest. The sitting room is a great gathering place - every evening guests gather there to chill and chat.

There is no subway in Xining. ·Due to the off-season, men’s and women’s showers and bathrooms are mixed. When I was first introduced, it was said that men and women were separated. Later, I saw that the men’s shower and bathroom were clearly empty, and boys would also choose to enter the women’s shower and women’s bathrooms to take a shower and use the toilet. I was particularly surprised and asked The boss found out that it was for mixed use, and the shower head was handheld and could not be hung up. It is difficult to adjust the water temperature in the shower room. A little more is very hot and a little less is very cold. The top of the shower room is open and the bath is very cold. ·There was no hot water in the wash basin, and there was a faucet that sprayed water at people. It sprayed all over my pants. ·The temperature of the entire youth hostel is also very cold, at least five or six degrees lower than the outdoor temperature. Wear short-sleeved clothes outdoors and jackets indoors. ·The wireless network is very poor. The wireless network in public areas is very good, but as soon as you enter the room and close the door, you instantly enter the 2G era. I wrote this review using data traffic. The overall feeling looks good, and the check-in experience is average. If it is the peak season in summer, it should be great. It will be very lively when there are many people. The men's and women's bathroom showers can be used separately, and it will not be very cold, but the Internet may be worse.

Turn and feel the ups and downs of the story! There are also a variety of books that can be borrowed, and readers can take them at will and return them voluntarily. The bosses and his wife are definitely cultural people who hide in the city, and they are eminent monks who hide their secrets! In addition, there are two kinds of drinking water, mineral water and tap water, at the front desk in the corridor, which is very convenient. Even the boss’s son is very sensible! In the morning, I stood on the overpass, munching on pickled mustard and drinking boiling water to make eggs. I leisurely looked at the sparse flow of people outside the overpass and watched the morning sun rise little by little from the sea of ​​clouds. Hitting a passerby is like being outside the world!
