Hostels in Penang, Malaysia

The location is unbeatable—just a short walk to Mural Street and surrounded by incredible street food and attractions. The hostel itself is clean and well-maintained. The beds were comfortable, and I appreciated the organized co-working space, which made it easy to stay productive during my trip. One of the highlights was the hike they organized to a nearby hill—such a fun and refreshing activity! I was also fortunate to be there during Christmas Eve, and the hostel hosted an amazing celebration with great food and engaging activities. This hostel is a perfect choice for solo travelers. The friendly vibe makes it easy to meet new people and form connections.

The location is very good. Bus stops are close, shopping malls are close, you can walk around Georgetown, and there are no problems with places to eat. The hotel has air conditioning and the shower has strong water pressure. Shampoo and body soap are provided, and the hair dryer is also strong and good. The toilet and shower are shared, but that's the case with most accommodations of this type. One thing that bothered me was that although it looked clean, there was a lot of hair and other things stuck on the rail of the room door. They didn't clean the small details, so it might not be suitable for people who are concerned about that. They only cleaned the surface lightly. Check-in is self-service. It's fine for people who are used to it, but it will be confusing for first-timers.

I miscalculated the dates and booked one night less at my original hotel, so I booked this one. I figured I'd head to the airport early the next day and spend the night there. The ambiance is brand new, of course, but the smell is incredibly strong. I kept going in and out of the hotel, unable to sleep, constantly needing to get some fresh air. There was no way I could wake the kids up at 2 a.m. and head straight to the airport to spend the night. There are no windows in the entire hotel for ventilation, except in the bathroom. If you don't mind the smell, this is the place to stay; it's really new and clean.

Staying here is very suitable and fits the needs because it is right across from the Island Penang Hospital. Breakfast is quite delicious and unlimited portions. There are sports facilities on the 2nd floor which are quite crowded and restaurants are also close to the location. Unfortunately there is no special price for those who stay more than a week, for some reason.

One night over Penang for a short business trip, check in late but owners helper are helpful. Around the corner of this shared living hostel is some dinner place and open till late around 1030pm. There are some live bar for the entertainment if you are not here for work. Amenities is basic and enough for the stay. Important aspect for me is the Aircon which is functioning and is cold.

Booked as couple but provided only 1 pair of slipper. One side of the bed is next to the wall.

Very good, cost-effective, complete facilities, sound insulation can be improved a little, very suitable for backpackers, next time I will consider staying here, very convenient in the city center.

It's a 6 storey shop converted into hotel.  There is no lift, only stairs.  Ground floor is an office.  Hotel reception is on 1st floor, it has got pool table, phone charging station, tables where one can use own laptop for work.  Friendly & helpful reception staff.  Rooms are on 2nd floor to 4th floor, roof top is on the 5th floor.  I was in a twin room on 4th floor with 2 beds, 1 wall mounted desk with 2 table lamps - good enough for one laptop.  Room was clean especially the private bathroom, very clean, no complaint here.  There is hot & cold drinking water faucet in the hall way.  There is a shared bathroom at the end of the hall way.  I guess the bad apples who used it did not know how to flush a toilet so the hall way smelled like a giant toilet of my 5 days there, had to hold my breathe while opening my room door and quickly dash in; this has nothing to do with people who cleaned the bathroom, just jokers who came from places who aren't trained to flush.  Location is a little out, it takes about 15-20 mintues walk to attraction spots.  There is no pedestrain walk path right outside the hotel, it's a busy main road, got to be careful with the traffic.  Overall, my stay was pleasant.  Deleted all my photos before seeing this review section.
