Family & Friends Railcard | Up to four adults and four children can travel on one Family & Friends Railcard. Adults can enjoy 1/3 off rail fares while kids and enjoy 60% off rail fares. Renew Railcard – 16 – 17 Saver Railcard
Railcard users will need to ensure that the 16 – 17 Saver Railcards are renewed before their expiry dates as expired Railcards are not valid for use. Users may be charged a penalty fare if they travel on an expired Railcard. The Railcards can be renewed when they are within 30 days of the expiry date. Users may also renew Railcard in their online accounts when they have expired. Users will need to renew the 16 – 17 Saver Railcards before their 18th birthday. If users are still 17 years old, they can renew their 16 – 17 Saver Railcards. The renewed 16 – 17 Saver Railcard will be valid until the day before the user’s 18th birthday. 16 – 17 Saver Railcards can be renewed for 1 year (£30). Please note that users who are approaching their 18th birthday are advised to purchase the 16 – 25 Railcard as they can provide discounts for a longer period.
When the 16 – 17 Saver Railcard is renewed, the new card will start from the day after the current Railcard has expired. If users renew their digital Railcards before their expiry dates, please note that the current digital Railcard will appear in the online account as “Replaced”. Then, the renewed Railcard will be valid for use immediately. Any overlapping validity will be added on to the renewed Railcard. Users will be able to renew their 16 – 17 Saver Railcards without having to verify their eligibility. Renew Railcard – 16 – 25 Railcard
The Railcards can be renewed when they are within 30 days of the expiry date. Users may also renew Railcard in their online accounts when they have expired. Users will need to renew their 16 – 25 Railcards before their 26th birthday. 1-year 16-25 Railcards (£30) are available up to and including the day before the user’s 26th birthday. 3-year 16-25 Railcard (£70) is available up until the day before the user’s 24th birthday. Both 1-year and 3-year Railcards can be used up until their expiry dates. If the user’s current Railcard is due to expire after the user’s 26th birthday, the user will not be able to renew the 16-25 Railcard unless the user is a mature student. Users can consider purchasing a 26-30 Railcard instead with the same price and savings.
When the 16-25 Railcard is renewed, the new card will start from the day after the current Railcard has expired. If users renew their digital Railcards before their expiry dates, please note that the current digital Railcard will appear in the online account as “Replaced”. Then, the renewed Railcard will be valid for use immediately. Any overlapping validity will be added on to the renewed Railcard. Users will be able to renew their 16-25 Railcards without having to verify their eligibility except for mature students. Only Railcards that are bought online can be renewed online. For users who have bought their Railcards from a station, they will need to renew their Railcards at a staffed station ticket office or purchase a new Railcard.

The Railcards can be renewed when they are within 30 days of the expiry date. Users may also renew Railcard in their online accounts once they have expired. Users will need to renew their 26-30 Railcards before their 31st birthday providing that it is due to expire within 30 days. Users will NOT be able to renew their 26-30 Railcards early if the Railcard is due to expire after the user’s 31st birthday. In this case, users are advised to apply for other types of Railcards. 26 - 30 Railcards can be renewed for 1 year (£30).
When the 26-30 Railcard is renewed, the new card will start from the day after the current Railcard has expired. If users renew their digital Railcards before their expiry dates, please note that the current digital Railcard will appear in the online account as “Replaced”. Then, the renewed Railcard will be valid for use immediately. Any overlapping validity will be added on to the renewed Railcard. Users will be able to renew their 26 – 30 Railcards without having to verify their eligibility.
