Parks & Nature

Heading to a park is a must for any London city break. Located in the middle of central London is Hyde Park, a massive stretch of greenery that has provided solace from the hustle and bustle of the city for centuries. The park spans across 350 acres and is home to lakes, meadows, and all sorts of wildlife. In the west, the park converges with Kensington Gardens. Hyde Park is suitable for strolls and nature walks, and if you come during the spring or summer, remember to pack a picnic basket! For a hotel within walking distance from Hyde Park, consider staying at The Landmark.

Despite being one of the largest cities in Europe, stunning nature can be found all around London. To add a splash of green to your day, go spotting for wild deer at Richmond Park, a national nature reserve and the largest of London’s Royal Parks. Richmond Park features extensive cycling paths as well as playgrounds for children and an 18-hole golf course.

You can also take in the floral fragrances of the rose gardens at Regent’s Park, another Royal Park which is home to numerous historical villas and mansions. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to take a boat ride on the lake or simply enjoy a walk down the winding paths.

Museums

London is home to a huge range world-class museums, and it’s no surprise that visitors on a London city break deem them as some of the places they’re most excited to visit.

Located in Trafalgar Square is the National Gallery, which houses a collection of around 2,000 famous paintings from around Western Europe. This world class museum features works from Titian, Van Gogh, Raphael, and countless more. Paintings are displayed in a massive space that could easily take all day to walk through, and why wouldn’t you want to? The architecture of the museum itself is stunning and worth admiration. Plus, with free admission, the National Gallery is a great place to soak up some culture on a rainy day. If you plan to spend a lot of time in the National Gallery, Corinthia London is located just a stone’s throw away. Consider staying in this 5-star hotel for your London city break.

Over two million treasures from every corner of the world are housed in the British Museum over in Bloomsbury. Famed for its large collections of Middle Eastern, Egyptian, and Chinese artifacts (just to name a few), one of the most famous objects on exhibit is the Rosetta Stone. It undoubtedly takes several visits to fully take in all that the museum has to offer. If you haven’t been yet or are looking to take a more in-depth visit, the British Museum is an absolute must for your London city break.

When it comes to museums, we recommend checking the official website for opening hours and dates before planning your visit.

Landmarks

Most of London’s landmarks need no introduction, but be sure to work them into your itinerary! Some of the most “quintessentially London” attractions include the Palace of Westminster and Big Ben, as well as Tower Bridge and London Eye (be sure to visit at night for its spectacular lights). If you’re looking for a hotel with easy access to these attractions for your London city break, consider booking a room at The Dixon, Autograph Collection for its stunning city views or London Cheval Three Quays, which is located right on the River Thames.

Neighbourhoods

While you’ll probably pass through Soho during your trip to London without even realising it, this neighbourhood is worth visiting on its own accord. Packed with restaurants, cafés, and pubs, Soho is also home to markets and seemingly endless fashionable places to shop at. At night, the streets come alive with bars and clubs. Soho is also home to numerous theatres (Dominion Theatre, the London Palladium, and Price Edward Theatre to name a few), and London’s Chinatown is just around the corner. Bring your walking shoes, as the best way to get around is undoubtedly by foot.

Take a breather from London’s major tourist area and dive right into Greenwich, a neighbourhood brimming with unique culture. Located on the south bank of the Thames, Greenwich is home to the Cutty Sark, the last British tea clipper. Climb aboard and learn about the ship’s colourful history as it ventured through the seas. The Cutty Sark is part of Maritime Greenwich, a series of buildings including the Royal Observatory, Queen’s House, and National Maritime Museum that have been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The UK’s achievements in science, art, and maritime endeavors can be explored through the architecture and surrounding area. Greenwich Park is part of the UNESCO site as well, and is definitely not to be missed. At the park, we recommend climbing the hill to take in a spectacular view of the landmark buildings of London, including St. Paul's Cathedral and the Cheese Grater (the Leadenhall Building). Looking at a map, Greenwich may seem a bit far flung, but it’s easily reached by public transportation and totally worth a visit.

The perfect hotel to enjoy the view of London as it is an attraction itself. You can enjoy the sunset and sunrise as you are chilling on bed with your beloved. The service is really amazing and efficient. The breakfast is really good and full of diverse foods. Sky pool and spa were closed but we have enjoyed it before and it was amazing. The only negative point to be fair is the gym which is not amazingly equipped in term of lifting equipment. I definitely recommend this hotel for every couple that want to have an unforgettable stay in London.

Great location between London Bridge, Tower Bridge and the riverside. Staff were helpful and pleasant, and the room decor and its servicing was of a high standard. Didn’t use the spa facilities on this occasion but will definitely do so on our next visit.

As we arrived staff greeted us, and were very helpful. Check in was easy. Room was very clean, very comfortable beds, coffee machine and everything we needed, including soft robes. Pool was nice a little cold but the hot tub was very warm so very much enjoyed. Again all areas were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was OK, some bits were alittle cold, but the chef cooked me poached eggs to perfection, and was a good range of cereals, pastries. All in all a very good stay and hope to go back Thank you Montcalm East 🙂

Only stayed for 1 night but had a really good experience. First impressions were amazing as we were greeted by Francesca who was very friendly and made us feel welcome. She said she would upgrade us to a better room for no added price (we didn’t ask). Everything was very clear and easy to navigate. The room was better than I even imagined with a great view of the London eye and London Bridge. Would definitely return.

Manager of this hotel didn’t know how to solve guests problem but kept saying she didn’t work that day so she didn’t have responsibilities to solve. Also, her attitude was really bad. I wouldn’t recommend stay here, if you want to have a nice holiday in London. The staff of this hotel will ruin your day. DO NOT STAY HERE!

The location is very good. Few mins to Russell Sq Station. The only down side is there’s about twenty steps of stair stairs when you come up form the platform. So if using baby stroller and lots of luggage need to be aware. But there’s also lots of bus to go sightseeing places which is very convenient. The other good part I like the most is there are basic shops and restaurants around. There’s a small shopping center opposite with bakery, Waitrose, Superdrug’s and some other restaurants. There’s are also Pret and Tesco Express outside the tube station. The area is also quiet and peaceful very suitable for family.

Booked this hotel for parents who were visiting London. The hotel room on floor 4 was of a high standard with a view over the Thames. The gym was good and the outside seating of the restaurant enjoyable in the sunny weather. Unfortunately the ferry connecting Canary Wharf to the hotel was not in use but the hotel provided complementary shuttle taxis to the Uber boat pier and free travel on the Uber boat with the Hotel key card.

Waterloo and Southwark London|1.01km from city centre
Excellent location just 10-15 minutes stroll from Waterloo station, with our Junior Suite offering fantastic views of the London metro (surprisingly quiet despite the proximity). The suite was well-equipped with a comfortable queen bed, though the sofa bed was a bit thin (my kid could sleep comfortably). The room featured all essential amenities: a spacious wardrobe, iron and ironing board, fully-equipped kitchenette with microwave and a good-sized mini fridge (bigger than the norm). The multiple electrical outlets throughout the room were particularly convenient. The bathroom was a highlight with a separate bathtub and shower, featuring luxurious ESPA toiletries with a wonderful gender-neutral citurs scent. The plumbing worked perfectly with no drainage issues, and the bathroom storage was ample. Security and comfort were well-considered with working lifts, effective air-conditioning/heating, and an in-room safe. The only minor, tiny issue was that housekeeping initially provided amenities for two guests instead of three, though this was eventually resolved. This hotel would definitely be our choice for future London visits.

Hyde Park London|3.35km from city centre
Great location, close to Paddington Station. Hotel was clean and tidy. Really comfy bed. Basic amenities with basic tea and coffee making facilities in room. Lift was out of order but we were not told on arrival- just a sign on door. We were on fourth floor so bit of a mission up a lot of stairs. Basic breakfast but fine for a quick bite to eat before starting the day. We got a great deal financially so would absolutely recommend it for that price.

The floor space without inventory was 80cm x 100cm 👎🏻, but the bed was 300cm x 250cm 👍🏻 and no closet, something went wrong during the planning 🤣🤣🤣🤣, everything else was great, especially the location for night owls...Soho/ Chinatown 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Perfect location, right outside the metro. Easy checkin and checkout. Excellent breakfast with lots of options, and the restaurant menu is nice as well. Room is nice, but bathroom is small. Cleaningness wasnt the best, one of the days they didnt even take the trash out. But in general I would recommend and stay there again.

Visited for business reasons - the hotel inside is absolutely immaculate, very comfortable and excellent rooms. Breakfast was delicious and a good spread. The location isn't excellent and from the outside it doesn't look that impressive but overall I can't fault it. Would definitely stay again!

The location is convenient, close to underground station. The communal areas were cozy. However, I did encounter an issue with cleanliness in the room. Despite this, the service was good overall and the staffs were helpful, making it a decent value for money.
