The room was perfect for our family since everyone had their own bed. The beds were comfortable, which made resting after long days of sightseeing easy. The only downside was limited space if you’re traveling with large luggage. The hotel’s location is very convenient it’s close to the train station and surrounded by plenty of restaurants. There’s also a grocery store and a FamilyMart right outside the hotel, which was very helpful. The laundry area was another nice bonus for families traveling longer. Overall, a great and convenient stay in Ueno.

First, the pros:
1. This hostel on the 4th floor has a large public bath and sauna, which is very friendly for guests staying in winter. You can relax with a hot soak and a sauna, and guests can use it freely and unlimitedly.
2. Convenient transportation, very close to Ueno Station and Okachimachi Station, about a 6-minute walk.
3. The price is relatively affordable, suitable for short stays.

Cons:
1. Besides the 2nd and 3rd floors, floors 5/6/7 have very old renovations. The upper floors are also quite noisy because they are close to the train tracks. Light sleepers are advised to wear earplugs or consider not booking these rooms.
2. There are washing machines and dryers on the 4th floor, but they are very dirty with a lot of grime. The hostel doesn't clean them, so I honestly don't recommend using them. I've never seen such dirty washing machines in Japan.
3. The staff attitude was very poor. When I asked why the carpet on the 7th floor was so dirty, the staff said if I didn't like the 7th-floor room, I could pay an extra 1000 yen to switch to a newly renovated room on the 2nd floor. This implied that the 7th-floor rooms are just like that, and if you don't want to stay there, you pay more. They didn't solve the problem but rather shifted it. They didn't even say 'sumimasen' (excuse me/I'm sorry) initially. Later, after I lectured them in Japanese, they apologized. They probably thought I didn't speak Japanese. They're clearly bullies who pick on the weak, bowing and smiling to Japanese people but treating foreigners poorly. This is truly discriminatory.

Great location as it was about 7min walk to Ikebukuro Station. The reception was at level 3 along with ice machine, coffee/tea machine, washing machine with dryer. There’s a Denny’s at level 2 where we have our breakfast and 7-11 at level 1. 
The famous Ichiran Ramen was just across the road and operate 24hr. 
Overall room was just nice for me and my son as it had everything we need. Able to open up my 28inch luggage (one at a time) as Japan hotel room size is usually small. Not a big issue for me

As a frequent traveler to Japan, I'm quite familiar with Japanese hotels. While the room was small (which is typical for hotels in great locations), it cleverly featured bunk beds, and surprisingly, the beds were quite spacious. It was perfectly fine even with kids! The location is absolutely fantastic. As soon as you step out, there are tons of menus everywhere, and you can walk to anything you want to eat. Ueno itself is a place where you'll never struggle to find food, and personally, I think it's hard to go wrong – everything is delicious. You'll feel like your mouth and stomach aren't big enough! Although the price went up for the last two days, it was understandable given the season and crowd. After all, the location is the value. The location is great. 3 mins walking to the nearest station. Many restaurants and convenience stores nearby. The cleanliness is just acceptable. However they don’t make the beds and clean the room regularly, only throw the trash and change the towels, which is weird. The amenities are quite old and the room is smaller than expected. If you have two kids like us (one 9yo and one 5yo), maybe it’s better to rent 2 rooms.
The staff is supportive though, so I rated 4/5 because of the staff.
Anyway, if you want a great location to travel around on a budget, this is good. If you need a comfortable stay, should consider twice.

well located and generally clean, except for you, but well I think it must be difficult to keep clean with the number of people. there are not enough toilets for all the people. The bathrooms are clean, well appointed and airy. The beds are clean and comfortable. Negative point: all the lockers are located in one room, there is a lot of traffic in a room and some guests allow themselves to talk loudly while others are asleep. perhaps they feel that it does not matter since it is not their room

The reception area is indoors, but the elevator to the guest rooms is located outside, close to the street. The surrounding area offers very convenient transportation and dining options. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming. They provide temporary luggage storage after check-out. Our room had a small balcony, and although I visited in summer, I'm looking forward to experiencing it again in autumn.

The room is big, and we can put down three big and three small suitcases for our family of three, and there is still space. The location is good, and it is close to Shibuya, Shinjuku, Omotesando, or Ginza, which is why we chose this hotel. There are many restaurants downstairs, and there is an automatic orange juice machine on the right hand side of the door, 350 yen a cup. You can pay with Alipay QR code or cash. The first thing I do every morning when I get up is to buy orange juice.

I made a reservation on the day because a triple room with a semi-double room and sofa bed was available!
The room was quite small, so I couldn't spread out my carrier (T_T)
But the amenities were plentiful and very nice!
The welcome drink of sweet sake was also delicious!
The only drawback is that all the nearby parking lots are expensive.

First off, this location is a bit out of the way, if you intend to stay close to the downtown...you have to take the ”Portliner” a few stops.

No issue for me, but did not realize this when I booked.
I chose it because of the onsen / sauna, and I was very satisfied: this was the best sauna / cold tub I had in Japan (so far).

Was hotter (and colder) than anything else. The actual hot-tub was good too, but I focus on sauna ＞ cold tub cycles more than anything.

Rooms are new and look good, if not a bit small. As expected. 

Stay for a night if you are on the fence...use the onsen...have a coffee-milk afterwards. You'll feel great.

Rooftoop bar / restaurant was nice as well and very friendly staff!

went there as a lay over between going ski in niseko and going back to sapporo flight. The room is quite big for capsule also the onsen is really good. it has 4 different temperatures onsen such as 42c 33c outdor 16c 6c and saunas! The location is pretty good close to train and shopping! the price is very cheap too! super good place
