The room was quite spacious compared to typical Japanese hotel rooms, and since the hotel seemed newly renovated, everything felt very clean and modern.

One small downside was that there wasn’t a small table in the room where we could comfortably eat snacks or relax. There was a small corner table, which worked for doing makeup, but the layout wasn’t really convenient for eating.

The bedding and bathroom were both very nice, and the public bath was also modern and clean. However, the water was a bit too shallow, which was slightly disappointing.

Most of the front desk staff were friendly overall, but one male staff member at reception was quite unpleasant. He had a very expressionless attitude and spoke in a way that felt unnecessarily rude and made us feel uncomfortable.

Overall, it was a clean and comfortable stay, but the service experience at the front desk could be improved.

The hotel is just a five-minute walk from Wafantian Station, with a Lawson convenience store right downstairs. There's also a Toyo-Ei Supermarket and a Matsumoto Kiyoshi drugstore right below the station. Wafantian has everything you need - you can walk to Don Quijote until 1 a.m., and there are also Torayu and all kinds of izakaya and ramen shops. It's really convenient in every way. The hotel lobby is on the 15th floor, and the onsen is on the 16th floor - it's separate for men and women, which is very convenient. The rooms are pretty standard, with everything you need, but the luggage space is a bit cramped when you open your suitcase.

Great hotel nearby to Ueno station & the park. Standard room is a bit tight, but that's standard for Tokyo I guess. Drip coffee bags and bottled water provided daily. There are 3 laundromats and microwaves located on different floors. They can accommodate early check in for a fee. No issues with this hotel, will stay again.

Not my first time staying in this chain but the first time at this hotel. 
Room was a bit more spacious and the view was better for me, cause I love a lot of natural sunlight. 
Everything was perfect. Reception was so helpful with all my needs. They sent my luggage to my next hotel and it arrived next morning before midday. 
Location is superb. Literally in the heart of Ginza. MITSUKOSHI right in front of the hotel just cross the road. Happy Pancake literally 1 min away, right in the next corner. Metro station right next to the entrance.

This hotel is super convenient, just a few minutes from the subway station, right by Nihonbashi. The breakfast was good too, served in individual small dishes. If you get a corner room, the space is decent. The highlight for me was the hotel's public bath – I went both days I stayed there.

The location is great! We were within walking distance of 3 different train stations! The room was big, we had a couch which was nice. The front desk staff were welcoming, attentive and warm. The cleaning staff were very attentive, punctual and helpful - I hope they can get recognition for their efforts! 
We had an amazing view of Tokyo Tower. I would definitely be staying here again during our next visit to Tokyo!

I stayed at this hotel with my family for 5 nights. We enjoyed the stay with high satisfaction. First, the room is well-equipped, like a cozy apartment. I felt relaxed and comfortable during the stay. The balcony, buffet breakfast and the public bath are definitely additional merits. Second, the location is perfect for us. The closest station is not as busy as Shinjuku, we wouldn't feel stressful when hopped on trains. Lastly, the staff are always ready to offer a help. We appreciate it.

The 36th-floor lobby offers absolutely stunning panoramic views from its floor-to-ceiling windows, overlooking Tokyo Bay. By day, you can see the Skytree and Rainbow Bridge, and at night, the city lights up beautifully—it's perfect for taking amazing photos. The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was comfortable, and the amenities were comprehensive. The ReFa beauty shower was a fantastic experience.

I chose this hotel specifically for cherry blossom viewing, and overall it was excellent value for money. The location is superb, the views are fantastic, it's convenient for getting around, and the quality is consistently good, making it a top choice for seeing cherry blossoms in Tokyo. If you can, opt for a high floor, preferably on the Tokyo Tower side, and during cherry blossom season, you'll likely have a great view from your window. In the evening, head to Tokyo Midtown/Sakurazaka for beautiful night views and illuminated cherry blossoms – it's less crowded and perfect for photos.

The masseuse I booked for room 1922 on the evening of Feb 26th was amazing, instantly relieving my tired legs. The room was a bit small, and it was very noisy at night with a lot of bikers on the road. Light sleepers should definitely reconsider. However, the hotel's location is unbeatable – right opposite Don Quijote, and there's FamilyMart, 7-Eleven, and Lawson downstairs, so you can easily buy things. The front desk staff were great. One night, I had a last-minute booking for a different room type, and they patiently explained the room change process to me. All I had to do was pack my bags and hand over the room card, then I could go out and enjoy myself, and a staff member would help move my luggage to the new room. There's no complimentary bottled water in the room, so you have to boil your own. The air purifier needs to be filled with water for humidification. Lighting and AC are controlled by remote, which feels a bit basic. Other than that, it was alright.

It’s a comfortable stay for 4 nights at a very reasonable price during Sakura season. The area for improvement is the services can he better such as to provide laundry bags in rooms, provide better quality in toiletries and more attentive frontlineers. We might not get used to Japanese pillows as they are quite stiff  but still bearable.

The lobby makes a strong first impression with its tasteful, contemporary design—very much in line with what seasoned travelers appreciate after a long journey.

Location-wise, the hotel is a solid choice. Being close to the train station and surrounded by local food options made getting around and finding good meals effortless.

That said, the 5pm check-in time is noticeably later than usual and can be inconvenient if you arrive early. I passed the time at the restaurant and bar next to the lobby, taking advantage of their Happy Hour, which helped. A nice touch was the self-service luggage storage area—practical and traveler-friendly.

I stayed in a corner room. The room itself was fine: clean, functional, and simple, as expected of many Japanese hotels. The view, however, was unremarkable.

I also tried the public bath. It was reasonably sized and, thankfully, not too crowded during my visit, making it a relaxing experience.

Service was a bit cool at first, though it improved as the stay went on.

Overall, I would consider returning, especially when traveling as a couple.

Stayed at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Kawaramachi Jokyoji from 20-24 Dec. This was my 2nd stay there in 2 consecutive months, despite there being hundreds of hotels in Kyoto. 

Location:  the hotel is located in the city center with Nishiki Market and Teramachi indoor shopping street located very closeby. Kawaramachi is also a big commercial street lined with plethora of shops and malls.  Train stations within walking distance. 

Hotel Facilities and Amenities:  this is a very beautiful hotel next to a temple (and small cemetery). The rooms are exemplary clean and quite spacious for Japan’s standard. Many facilities such as a public onsen, on-site restaurant, vending machine, ice machine, etc. No gym, which is not a big deal at all if you are in Kyoto for a short tourist visit.  You will be doing a lot of walking anyway if you choose to.  

I only visited the on-site restaurant for dinner once. The food was okay, but nothing to write home about. Service staff was accommodating (I had to use a wheelchair at the time); however, service was lackluster otherwise.  


Hotel staff service:  cannot praise the service by the hotel staff enough. This time around, I had injured my foot and couldn’t walk for 2 days. I was touched by the staff’s incredible kindness - they went out of their way to really help me out.

Overall:  if you want city center location with easy access to modern shops and an array of restaurants within walking distance, big and super clean room, and great hospitality,  I’d highly recommend this hotel.

Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Station: During autumn, they have a display in the lobby showing the fall foliage status of several temples, along with the day's weather. The rooms are decent, and it's not too far from Kyoto Station, but there's no public bath. You can pick up complimentary toiletries by the elevators. Staff greetings are a hit or miss. The biggest downside is breakfast; it's quite poor compared to other Mitsui hotels, with limited choices and average taste.

An incredibly worthwhile stay! We hit it during the off-season, and the room was huge with a washing machine. Everything was great, and the location was super convenient. From Karasuma Oike South Exit 5, if you have large luggage, make sure to turn left after the ticket gate. You'll see a rather dim-looking building called Shinfukan; take the elevator or escalator up to ground level, and the hotel is just a short walk from there. It's walking distance to popular spots. The area is filled with understated luxury brands, really capturing that Kyoto vibe.

Highly Recommended Stay in Kyoto

I would like to strongly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Kyoto. The staff demonstrate exceptional professionalism and hospitality.

In particular, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Miss Yuki, who assisted us with our check-in and kindly introduced many wonderful sightseeing spots and activities in Kyoto, as well as to Miss Tsai, a ********* staff member who supported us during check-out with great warmth and care. Their thoughtful service truly reflects the welcoming spirit of Kyoto and the hotel’s commitment to excellence.

I am genuinely impressed by the quality of the team members who bring guests happiness and satisfaction through their dedication. They truly deserve recognition and applause for their outstanding service.

Our two-night stay was far too short, and we are already looking forward to returning in the near future.

Absolutely loved this Zen-inspired hotel, a perfect blend of Japanese and Western styles. The room wasn't huge, but it was incredibly comfortable and thoughtfully designed. We enjoyed the public onsen daily, and the facilities were comprehensive. The surrounding area is packed with amenities; we loved exploring the narrow alleys filled with charming shops and delicious eateries, all with a distinct local flavor. It's very close to Nishiki Market, and there's a budget-friendly supermarket within 100 meters, making transportation super convenient. The staff were warm, friendly, and attentive, and the breakfast spread was excellent. Highly recommend!

For a Japanese hotel, the room was surprisingly spacious and comfortable. It's only a 3-5 minute walk to the subway station, and there are plenty of dining and shopping options nearby. The famous Ichiran Ramen main branch is also just around the corner.

The location is super convenient! It's within walking distance of Gion Station on the Airport Line, Kushida Shrine Station on the Nanakuma Subway Line, Hakata Station, as well as Canal City Hakata, Kushida Shrine, and Nakasu Kawabata street.

The breakfast spread is generous, primarily Japanese-style, and even features the famous Ikkousha ramen from Hakata.

The rooms are quiet and spotlessly clean, and you have the flexibility to choose whether you'd like daily housekeeping. The top floor has a communal bathhouse where you can enjoy a hot spring soak to wash away your fatigue.

The Japanese-style breakfast, convenient transportation, and the hot spring bath are definitely the biggest highlights.
