This was my second stay, and the experience was just as great. The room was clean and comfortable. They have staff who speak Chinese, and they were very attentive, recommending nearby hot springs and restaurants. The owner also speaks a little Chinese. The simple breakfast was fantastic, and the hot soup was delicious! You can leave your luggage at the 1F lobby during check-in or check-out, and they can also arrange a taxi for you. Highly recommended!

3HrocketA charming and comfortable traditional Japanese ryokan. The location is excellent, directly opposite the JR station; you can easily reach it by following the pedestrian signs across the railway tracks. The staff were incredibly warm and attentive. They kindly allowed us to store our luggage before check-in, which was great for exploring the onsen town without any burden. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious and ample Japanese meals (washoku), for which you could confirm a preferred seating time. Complimentary coffee was also available in the first-floor lobby lounge. The onsen facilities were excellent, including a lovely open-air bath (rotenburo). Overall, we were extremely satisfied and would highly recommend this ryokan.

The hotel is located on a mountain with a great environment. The hot springs are particularly amazing, with several outdoor and indoor pools. The room was also nice, a Japanese-style room that was very clean and spacious. The only regret is that we stayed two nights at this hot spring hotel with breakfast and dinner included, and both meals were very poor. I can only say that we were filled with plain white rice and miso soup. Oh, and the hotel offers free shuttle service. You need to contact the hotel in advance. They will pick you up at the JR station with a sign. Overall, the value for money is just average.

Guest UserStayed there for two nights.
In-room onsen was good, staff at reception excellent. Food was simply terrible. Rice was cold (personally it’s simply unacceptable in any Japanese restaurant except for sushi may be?), the chef seems to enjoy making fusion dishes (and except that they were unappetising). To name but a few, we had strawberry mousse for starter, tofu (which was bitter) and pickles with miso for mains, and who’d put diced apple in an apple sorbet?? (Felt as though I was biting into ice cubes). The waitress was also extremely impatient and rushed us through our meals (we finished our dinners within 35 minutes, breakfasts 20).
I honestly cannot recommend this hotel. Sorry, but no.

BrianLau1006First, the food was pretty good. You can pre-order an extra menu for dinner; check the hotel's official website for details. Both dinner and breakfast are buffet style, and you can sit anywhere.
The hotel's location is a bit inconvenient; the entire walk from Gero is uphill and exhausting. You can book a shuttle bus or take a taxi; it's about a 3-4 minute walk.
This time, I chose a room with a private open-air hot spring bath, which was very comfortable. The large public bath on the second floor is also quite spacious.
The hotel has a complimentary relaxation area where you can sample plum wine and fruit juice popsicles. There are massage chairs on the first floor for 300 yen for 15 minutes. The lounge on the second floor has complimentary foot massagers.

The room was spacious, and there was a balcony where I could enjoy taking photos of the night view and starry sky. Drinks like beer were also free, so it was great value for money.

The train arrived at Gero Station. I originally planned to walk to the hotel, but I saw the hotel sign as soon as I got out of the station. It was quite a surprise. The check-in process was very smooth. When we went through the formalities, the luggage had been delivered to the room. Then we arranged dinner and breakfast, explained the bathing time, and ladies could specially choose their favorite bathrobes, each one was different. The only drawback was that the bathhouse on B1 did not have an open-air bath, and the men's and women's baths changed at midnight. The next morning, I got up early to go to the open-air bath on the 5th floor. The hotel also had several buses to Gero Station the next morning.

RONGThe standard room with breakfast and dinner is set. The room is facing the open-air hot spring. The hotel is located less than halfway up the mountain next to the hot spring museum. It is convenient to buy things in the shops around.

The room is great!
Quite spacious, but most importantly, good insulation!
The shower and toilet are separate, which is good and the whole place is spacious.
Towels provided, microwave in the corridor
Also, the hotel is close to the train station and convenience store

In fact, it is actually the other hall of Yating. There are 8 rooms in total, each with a private soup pool. When checkingin, there is an exclusive butler to guide all the way. 2.7 points are absolutely not allowed. Dinner is also very good.
