PROS: - well-lit parking lot - Comfy bed - Lots of plugs/usb charging ports - Fridge & microwave - AC worked well - No noise from other rooms or hallway - rug and everything stain free - Hot delicious (though microwaved) breakfast including pastries, toast, bread, waffles, gravy, biscuits, eggs, sausage patties, oatmeal, juice, cereals, milk, etc. - Pull out sofa - has iron - lots of gas stations & restaurants in area (including in walking distance) - cameras in hallways - water fountain and ice machine downstairs - 2 working washers but only 1 working dryer ($1.75 wash, $1.50 dry) - detergent dispenser (ultra surf only) for $1 - pantry with snacks, soda, water, etc. for purchase CONS: - shady owner - built in desk in front of TV (if someone wants to use the desk and someone else to watch TV, this won’t work unless the person at the desk is 3’5”) - gross AC panel & TV remote (obviously never cleaned) - lots of road noise at all hours - stained tub - cigarette burn hole on foot rest of “non smoking” room - sheet turned inside out (accident or in lieu of changing sheets?) - trip hazard carpet - iron and board damaged (burns) - no drawers, hanging closet only - no visitors allowed - signs posted that you can not bring breakfast to your room I showed up here and though I had booked a double queen room, I was told I would be put in a King room instead. Not asked if that was ok with me but told. When I advised that I simply wanted the room that was booked at the rate that was booked, he told me I should go online, cancel and rebook my room to a King (knowing full well that the cost was higher now than it was when booked - $20+ higher). I refused and stated that I wanted the room I booked for the price I paid. He then tells me that he can cancel my reservation and rebook it. I told him no, I want the room I booked for the price I paid. Seeing this was going in circles, I asked for the manager, at which point this man informs me that he is the owner. He then begins to threaten to cancel my reservation completely. Mind you, there are severe weather and tornado warnings in the entire area at the time so limited to no availability anywhere else. He obviously wanted to rent the room I had reserved at a higher price. He then tells me he’s going to put me in a better room with a King bed that costs more than the level I reserved. I agree. Now there is a King Suite that does actually cost more and a standard King room that costs the same. Which one do you suppose he gave me? That’s right. The King that costs the same not the upgraded room. Not only that, he gives me one that smells of smoke covered in air freshener (knowing full well they make you initial that there is a $250 fee if smoke is detected in the room). I went back downstairs and asked for another room. Again, I got 1 bed less for the same price but at this point, I was too tired to keep arguing with this dude. Based on this dude’s shadiness, 1 star. Not all owners are cu

I normally don't write reviews for hotels other than when they prove really good or terribly bad. However, our experience with this property was both, so it gets a ”middle of the road” mark. First, the bad: musty ordor in the room led me to discover the wet carpet near the AC that grew larger as time went by. Second, my wife came out of the shower to discover the hair-dryer did not work. Third, after requesting a replacement, it did not work either! And, fourth, by the time we returned from dinner, the growing stench and flooded carpet required us to move to another room for the rest of the night--causing us to pack everything back up and transfer to the new room. Now the good: The one staff person at the desk was gracious & apologetic for the problems and offered the room transfer, which we accepted because she found one adjacent to where we were making it an easy move. Also, the bed was good, room clean, and breakfast the next morning terrific---so no more complaints. For the price of the stay, it turned out good enough.
