Excellent stay, three old school friends meeting up after many years. Staff were great and so welcoming. Rooms lovely and clean and bedding so crisp and comfortable. Food was really tasty and presentation very good. Only recommendation would be to have a residents only lounge area as I could imagine it would get very busy in high season. All ready planning our return trip.

Having heard the food was wonderful, we were sorely disappointed. I ordered the daily special, a fish and shellfish pie with a side of carrots. It was hot and tasty bit I can’t say there was any shellfish in the pie. The carrots would have been much better if they had actually been WASHED before cooking! They had tiny roots sticking out from the sides and dirt and grit in the crevasses! My husband had the vegetarian option, a potato rosti. It was grossly overcooked with a rubbery fried egg on top. The potato appeared grey and he had difficulty cutting it with a knife, finally giving up with about half of it to go. They were not busy at all and at a price of £20 and £19 respectively, there was no excuse. I’d pass this one by and try the other pub across the street.

I have a gluten allergy and the menu at the Castle Inn was fabulous with most options being gluten free. I had the beetroot starter, fish and chips and rice all of which were delicious. The staff were all very friendly and service was excellent. I am already planning my next visit!

Well run pub with professional, polite and attentive staff. Clean, cosy and everything you want from an old pub with a chef that knows how to make and cook great food. Best pub we tried in the area! Well done all 😀 ps well behaved dogs are allowed, too

Met family for a birthday meal ( Sunday night) … it was busy even at 6.30pm but that was probably because it was Easter Sunday. Lucky we had booked weeks in advance. The majority of our party choose either the burger , beef bourguignon , or the hake which I had and it was very tasty, I’m not a very big eater but felt a bit underwhelmed by the size of the dish for £26 , I could of added extra veg at a cost … We didn’t have to wait long to be served and the staff were lovely.

At very bad customer service Firstly a very crowed, disorganized reception area. A lady in Blue top And black jeans (Manager of the pub) when we were waiting with other customers asks who is first to arrive, I said a I just arrived so she gave table to other family waiting before me. (No issue but what a greeting: I would say welcome everyone may I please know who has been waiting longer?) Then i asked how long the wait for table, she said she can’t tell me time (didn’t offer if you would like to wait) . I said happy to wait. She said can you wait outside (no please used just an order) ? I said can you write my name on waiting she said we don’t but you wait and I will call you. This was14:00hrs. I patiently waited outside holding door I saw few more customers were given table in between. (See blue marking of unreserved table given while I waited on booking picture attached- I can confirm there were no personal details just name bu I have still hidden it) So when there were four more customers went In at 14:15. I went in two and a bold headed waiter offered them a table. I intervened him to say can you speak to lady in blue as I am waiting for 15 mins and it’s unfair to give a table to walk in customer. He was so rude and said I am serving this customer so offering table to them. Don’t care about you. That point I realized the way I was greeted first and refused table despite waiting as advised was something to do with the way I looked or where I come from? Ofcorse they dined me the table but horrible, horrible customer service. Please anyone has faced this at this venue? A good pub should have 1: a nice reception for waiting customers 2: if you are not writing name of waiting customer outside restaurant then only one person should take customers. In my case next waiter takes customers despite I asked he didn’t bother. 3: I feel a manager first greeted me should have ensured I get next available place. I felt i was I treated differently because of my origin ? This spoiled our day trip to Castle Comb.

Visited for lunch. A good menu with lots of choice and we both had 3 courses. The location is beautiful and it’s a nice old building full of character. Food itself was average in my opinion and overpriced for the quality. Service was slow. Probably wouldn’t return.

Fabulous Dinner, Bed and Breakfast in a lovely, very old, Inn. Comfortable, if quirky, room in the eaves but with all mod cons and a comfortable bed. Proper coffee machine n the room and a good selection of teas as well. the staff are particularly friendly, chatty and eager to help without either over-doing it or being disrespectful.. Service was immaculate and the restaurant food was superb. If I were to be picky I might say the food took some time to come but at the same time it was all obviously freshly prepared and served hot, not warm. Besides, we were in no rush and enjoyed a selection of a very good wine list at acceptable prices (ie. about what you would expect for a high class restaurant.) Breakfast was probably the best I have had of any B&B deal I have experienced. Again all fresh and hot (where appropriate). Good cafetière coffee. There's no doubt we would go again to this delightful village and Inn
