We had a parent end up in the Kelowna General Hospital and also wanted to take time to visit our son in Vernon so we decided to try out the Royal Anne Hotel in downtown Kelowna. If driving, stay on Highway 97 at night, no matter what Google tells you. It is the better route for those that do not know Kelowna. The Royal Anne is located on a cafe and restaurant loaded Bernard Ave. We are all wondering if COVID is over but I can imagine that Bernard will be a busy stretch when the weather warms up. What a beautiful little stretch with 3 cafes within 1/2 block of the hotel and a bakery right across the street! Awesome. SERVICE-0.75: The breakfast is fantastic with pleanty of selection and protein! Seating is plentiful during breakfast. Parking is minimal although free, only about 12, secure, underground spots for the entire hotel. They have overflow parking but do not guarantee the security of your car. Kelowna City Park and its beach are within 3 to 5 blocks, respectively. Staff are friendly but not very accommodating. See room below. ROOM-0.5: The room is clean, well maintained, mattress and sheets in great condition, clean, comfy, thick sheets. Carpet is well maintained and not worn. Bar fridge working. USB chargers are rare. Location of plugs to plug in your own charger are also awkward. Worst issue is that rooms 203, 205, 207, 209 and 211 back onto rooftop HVAC units that hum 24 x 7. We asked to move rooms the next morning and were rejected. Yet new guests were checked in all day long. BATHROOM-1.0: White, thick, fluffy towels. Clean, well maintained tiling. No foreign hair present. Caulking in tub needed a little bit of help and the hair dryer, although in good condition, a little awkward to use if you wanted the ”cool/cold” setting. Counter plug and personal cleaning products the usual; no complaints. ENVIRONMENT-0.25: Humming HVAC unit (but no road noise to be heard!), view of HVAC unit, hallway well maintained.
