There are fewer restaurants near the hotel. You can go to the hot springs when you stay in the hotel. Although the facilities are very old, it is really comfortable to soak in the soup after hiking! ! The front desk does not speak English but the service attitude is very good, it is still very recommended
The second time I lived, the last time was 8 years ago, the facilities were still clean and not significantly old. There is still the hospitality of traditional Japanese-style hotels. The hot springs are still good, and it is a relatively new hotel near the Dragon God.
We took the Ryujin Bus and arrived at Kamimota. It was not yet check-in time, but the hotel lady was already waiting at the door. Serve warm tea, introduce the hot spring time, ask about meal time, and carefully prepare for dinner in the room. After the meal, we made the bed and asked thoughtfully about the time for the next day's morning service and the time for the bus to leave. The whole process was considerate. It was very cold outside when we left, and the hotel lady asked us to wait in the hotel until the bus came to the door. When we left, he said goodbye to us warmly and waved until we left. The hot springs here are very good, the food is delicious, and the experience is great.

Typical Japanese hot spring hotel. The bathing area is outside the hotel, and many Japanese people drive over. The open-air bath in the bath is very large, with 5 pools for men's baths and 4 for women's baths. The hotel has 4 family baths, which are free for hotel residents. Hotel guests have two keys, one is the door to the house, and the other is to open the family door. The hotel has a free shuttle bus from Shirahama Station. There is also a free shuttle bus to Kumano Hongu Taisha. The one-park-two-food set meal is quite satisfactory. Because the hotel is located in the mountains, there is nothing around it, so it can only bubble soup at night.
Although the location is relatively remote, the boss service is good, the spring quality is super good, it is a hot spring hotel that can be visited again.
When I arrived at Watase Onsen after dark in the evening, despite the language barrier, the uncle at the front desk took the initiative to use the translation software to explain in detail the use of the hotel’s facilities and the opening hours of the hot springs. Let us move in as soon as possible.
It is located in the countryside of Tanabe but the transportation is relatively convenient. This hotel is a member of the Secret Hot Spring Guardian Association, and the water quality of the hot spring is very good. The waiters were all local elderly people, and my lovely mother-in-law came to talk to me with a translator during dinner. The food is not luxurious, but it is still quite traditional and authentic Japanese home-cooked food.
Hotel location is slightly biased, but fortunately close to the beach.
The package meal tastes good, but it can't take out drinks, even sugar-free coke. The most impressive thing is the buffet Japanese breakfast, which is rich in variety, delicious and delicious.
Hotel facilities have a certain sense of time, but they are well maintained, functional and tidy.
Large room with a great view of sea, clean and cozy.
I was arriving late which passed the check-in hours due to flight delay. My sim card cannot make phone calls in Japan and I was afraid of not being able to check in. Fortunately, the front-desk gentleman was waited for us until midnight and helped us check in. And he guided us to find the vending machine to find the food even not speaking English. It’s a very positive experience to live here.

Outstanding
XXuexueni🏨Clean and tidy, relatively spacious. The little Shiba at the door is also very cute. The hotel service is very good and efficient. 🥾If you need to walk the Kumano Kodo, you need a stamped notebook📒. Just ask for it. There are free and 100 yen versions. If you need to send 🧳luggage, you can also make an appointment. It can be sent on the same day. It is 4500 yen to the Hongu area (Yunomine Onsen). Only cash payment is accepted. 711 at the JR station can also be sent, which will be cheaper, but it needs to be sent one day in advance. The disadvantage is that there is no public bath, but as a starting point, it is not so tiring. It doesn’t affect it too much. Secondly, although the straight-line distance to the station is very close, it is still a bit roundabout to actually walk to the JR station.
SShaoxiaofeiI came here on foot for the Nakabe Road to the Prince's Gate. I got off the JR Kii Tanabe bus and changed to the bus to the hotel. I have to pay attention to the time of getting off the bus. The journey takes more than an hour. There will be no bus if you are late.
In addition, the hotel has a car that can take you to the Prince's Gate on the Nakabe Road on the Kumano Kodo for free. You can make a reservation at the front desk one night in advance.
This time I booked a tatami room with one morning and one night. At dinner time, a waiter will come to help lay the tatami. Dinner is a buffet. I recommend beef and stream fish. The quality of beef is very good. The stream fish can be heated in the pot by yourself, and the taste is better.
The outdoor hot spring is just downstairs by the river. There are two pools and mixed pools. There are also separate pools for men and women indoors. If you want to go out to soak in the outdoor mixed pool, you can wear the yukata prepared in your bathroom. There is also an open-air free pool not far from the hotel. You can also ask the front desk to borrow a shovel to dig hot springs by the river. The experience is great! After the hot spring, there are also a lot of local oranges (it seems to be the origin of oranges, very sweet).
The guests are not only Chinese, but also Japanese who come here for vacation. The overall feeling is very good.
GGuest UserWhen there is no choice, I just make do with it. The dinner is quite sumptuous and the breakfast is a bit too much. 😆The surrounding environment of the hotel is good and there are open-air hot springs where you can soak.
QQinglingThe location is still very good, the room is too small... The space planning is very compact and there is everything that should be there. The price is really cheap, so the overall price is very high, it is a good choice for us to stay for one night. The scenery of Kumano Ancient Road is really good
AAlbrecht Pagaduanno expectations when i booked it… i just need a room for a quick stop to the city! Itt was good enough… they said it was old, but it was ok for me and had a good stay during the night! The best part is i was close to the transportation terminal. i would stay again in here if i come back
GGuest UserThe room was very clean. The landlady was kind and could communicate in Chinese using a translation software. I ordered her breakfast for 800 yen and it was very comfortable. I didn’t know what to choose from the meal. I just ate what she made and I was very satisfied. This B&B can pick you up from the station. I don’t speak Japanese, so I can only walk there. When I left, she drove me to the station. I liked it very much! The bus runs twice a day, and it’s difficult to take a taxi. The pick-up and drop-off is very pleasant.
AAnonymous UserFacilities: The room is so small, almost the box can't be spread out.
Hygienic: It is still relatively clean.
Environment: Not far from the station, very close to the food street Weiguang Road.
Service: The old lady does not speak English and communication is a bit difficult. Storage of luggage for one day is also charged.
GGuest UserKind of annex of the sister hotel next door. In the annex is an onsen, washing machine and dryer (free to use), vending machines with beer and drinks and noodles. Room is basic. I had a great view on the river. Small balcony, but dirty and no chair. The annex is okay to stay if you are hiking.
The best thing is the sister hotel. A great onsen with outdoor bath. Nice souvenir shop with a bit more food. Staff are super friendly and helpful.
They also provide bus services (bring and pickup to Hongu Taisha, the other onsen places, the trailhead busstop) which you can use! Just call them if you want to be picked up.
I did not realize Kawayu Onsen is a very small place with NO supermarket. If you did not book breakfast (served at the sister) bring your own into town or eat instant noodles.
There are 2 small restaurants with delicious local food.
