This estate is just lovely although the rooms could use some attention. Staff were lovely and the check in experience was very nice. The common areas in the main house were just lovely, and we enjoyed a drink on a big sofa in front of the fire overlooking the estate. In terms of accommodation, we were in one of the "lake house" rooms, but please note the lake is nearby but not within sight and these rooms are a long way from the main house. Our room was upstairs without a view, and quite cold (just oil heaters that did not seem to be working very well). Bed was very comfortable. Walk to main house and breakfast was lovely but we were fortunate the weather was favourable. I would stay again, but would book a room in the main building.

Lovely old world charming Manor that is well run and offers comfortable accommodation in a peaceful location. The woodland and gardens are full of interesting features that are easily accessed. The staff are helpful and pleasant.

This hotel shows up in searches as family friendly however this is not a very family oriented hotel at all. There is nothing other than the very poorly marked walking trails to do with kids during the offseason. The hotel has no soft play area, play room, swings or slides. However the library does have a few children's books. The bar area has no seating or TV. You can walk down to the piano room to watch a huge TV from about 2 metres away. Very strange set up in general. We stayed in the Lake House which was very nice in terms of furnishings etc but quite impractical. No mat to wipe your feet on coming into the room so wet and dirt all over the wood floor. Making your way on foot to the Manor house is pretty dodgy at night as sections of the path are not well lit at all. It's also quite a long walk especially when you have younger children. In summary this hotel has so much potential with its beautiful grounds and buildings but there does not seem to be the desire to make the most of these by the owners. Would not return here unfortunately.

Lissard Hotel takes you back in time to old world splendor and service. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms have all the charm of a scene from "Downton Abbey" but the high quality amenities you would expect in a Relais and Chateau hotel. We have stayed here in the past and thoroughly enjoyed it. We plan to revisit in 2024. However, on this occasion, I want to commend Esteban Paulin Vera (Food & Beverage Manager) and the Chef Lucca and Josinho for accommodating a special luncheon for my 88 year old father and my family. They went above and beyond accommodating our requests for a specific menu and providing excellent service on the day. Their efforts truly made this an occasion to remember. My husband and I are grateful and look forward to seeing you in 2024. Deirdre and George Szrir

The hotel is in a beautiful location set in extensive grounds with a wonderful lake. The atmosphere is relaxed but the staff are all so welcoming and professional. The food is simply stunning. Everything was lovely and we will definitely return.

Property and surrounding gardens are very beautiful. The staff are very welcoming and genuine and were always accommodating. The location is a great base to explore the many towns, villages and scenery of west Cork. I was very impressed by the surrounding gardens and the efforts that it must take to maintain them in such a beautiful condition.

We booked a family lunch and had heard positive feedback so were looking forward to it. They had to add tables as there were not enough laid for our booking. We were very surprised with the limited menu but could do little about that. We were told it was one soup and one minute later the waiter came back to say it was an entirely different soup. A bit Fawlty Towers for my liking. Saying that, the soup eaten with a dessert spoon was very tasty accompanied by delicious fresh bread. The Charcuterie Board was tasty and filling. The Sea Food Chowder was mediocre, very chunky with overpowering strong fish taste. The waiters were friendly but not very efficient, there were only 5 others in the restaurant. We enjoyed our Fish & Chips for mains and kids enjoyed their goujons too. As we had a birthday cake, we didn't require dessert. Coffees were nice to set off the meal. Overall, we were disappointed with the very limited menu, cost of the food and lack of atmosphere, no xmas decorations. We enjoyed relaxing for a while upstairs in the drawing room. It looks a lovely cosy venue for Afternoon Tea for which we might return.

I got married in West Cork, and based myself, my family and some guests in Liss Ard Estate. It was such a special experience and we were accommodated excellently start to finish. We had a beautiful rehersal dinner in the dining room, with exceptional food and delicious rosé wine, and smiling staff. On the morning of the wedding Maddie kindly let us use one of the vacant rooms for myself and my bridesmaids to get ready, which gave us more space and a tidier environment which all added to the beautiful sense of calm of the morning. The breakfast was also delicious!! No ask was too big and the staff always went out of their way to make our stay a special and unforgettable one. They are also dog friendly (!!) so my dog could stay with us in the mews. I could say nothing but great things about our stay in Liss Ard for our wedding weekend. And a special mention to Maddie for going above and beyond. Thank you.
