I used to live in Ashby was a very vibrant and busy pub and had a county wide reputation. Well went with a friend after giving a tour of the village. I was so embarrassed. We ordered a drink and then food. We waited nearly an hour, luckily we were just having a chilled day. Then asked where our food was. The bar lady then told us she couldn’t find the chef 🤦‍♀️. There was no one in the kitchen. 😡. She phoned them and someone did turn up and told about 10 minutes. Another half hour passed by and still no food. We’d been given another drink. We were just about to leave when the food was finally served. So two hours in we were eating. How sad. 😢😢. What has happened to this pub. Couple other people came in and left. Was given a 50% discount but what a let down. Food was good when came. Maybe the bar person should have checked the chef was in the kitchen after she sent the order through and certainly after 20 minutes they should have checked what was going on. We’d only ordered ham, egg and chips. Was very badly handled. And was the worst experience I think I’d ever had with the service and inexplicable reason for the absent chef. 😡😡

We called into the Olde Coach House to meet friends we have not seen for some years. I have personally been visiting this pub for more than 45 years and have never arrived to find that no draught beer whatsoever were available. Two different staff gave two different reasons. Back in the days of Freddie and Doug the mid 1970's Ruddles County was always available, this pub from then on had a great reputation for serving good ales. How totally disappointing concerning and upsetting. We went elsewhere. Is this pub going out of business?

We love coming to this pub and, once again, had a lovely two course meal. Staff was great and helpful. Both main course and dessert were delicious! Pub is in a great location and has a cosy a**osphere.

Didn't eat, only half menu available. Place empty, staff didn't seem to know if they were even open!! Sat looked at menu, was told what wasn't available....fancied a pizza....you guessed it, no pizza....didn't get offered a drink, we left.....nobody even noticed we had left

Given 4 stars as the food was good although I had to send one dish back as it was burnt to a cinder. Menu is limited anyway but no pizzas as the oven was broken. No charcuterie or blondies either. Service was dreadful although polite. No clearing of tables between courses. Only one member of staff on but it was not busy. No service at table. Had to wait at bar for everything. Waited for ages for food and then had to chase them for the sauces that were supposed to come with the Tapas dishes. Think the chef can only hope with one order at a time. Such a shame as used to be a lovely pub.

It’s a sad fact but the covid pandemic clearly hit the hospitality industry hard and unfortunately a lot didn’t survive and those that stayed open are clearly struggling to get back on track due to staffing shortages and general running costs . My heart goes out to all at the coach house as the people were lovely but this seems to be the case . My room was pretty good to be honest but everything else has gone slightly off .. Beer wasn’t great think the lines need cleaning . Food not great and some items not available . Short staffed and some Staff lacking in training and the grounds are pretty run down .. Shame but I probably wouldn’t book again as there’s probably better places in the area Good luck hope you get back on track

It appeared so attractive online, but the reality was far different. How it can call itself 4 star with deluxe accommodation is beyond me. This list gives a flavour of the hotel: • Lobby light to room not working • Filthy windows • Cracked mirror, stained furniture • Broken bedside light • Broken loo seat • Wobbly bathroom tap • No shower gel – the hotel had run out of it • Disgusting loo brush and holder • Position of TV meant that it couldn’t be viewed from the bed • Non existent phone signal (Vodafone and Three) I would have expected a deluxe room to have included a stool to sit down on in the disabled bathroom, more than one coat hanger, a phone to contact reception, replenishment of tea-bags, bottled water etc. The food was adequate, although one day the hotel ran out of orange juice at breakfast and on another we had to wait an hour before the food arrived. The staff were pleasant and were trying to do their best in the face of difficult circumstances.

Popped out for a quick meal and wow what a wonderful place. Served by Ellie who had found her Zen and was in top form, helpful and friendly and witty. Indie also added to the exeptional service and that was all before we had sampled the food which was without doubt “devine”. Probably the best burger and chips around. Thank you for an unexpectedly lovely evening :)
