The guesthouse looks brand new and is absolutely spotless. I have to particularly commend the cleanliness – from the faucets to the tableware, everything was sparkling clean. The facilities are also comprehensive, and the room is quite spacious; we cooked the best meal of our trip there. It's conveniently located near supermarkets and gas stations for outings, and the guesthouse itself is easy to find. The elderly landlady is very kind. The only minor point is that the shower water pressure was a bit low.

Got in late and left early. Met by the very friendly owner and shown to my room and the features were well explained. The room was spacious, clean, well appointed and the bed very comfortable. In spite of the motel being on the main road and me being in the room closest to the road I noticed little or no traffic noise.

Aside from Christchurch and Queenstown, there aren't many other particularly good hotels on the South Island. I had the impression that motels in the US were quite scary, but motels in New Zealand are really clean and safe, and they even come with tableware and cooking facilities, which is great.
