Lovely authentic Greek hotel. We were upgraded on arrival to a new build apartment. We asked to move to the stone built two floor maisonette, which was accommodated the next day. Both rooms were excellent, but we wanted authenticity. Breakfast was excellent, everything you could want, gluten free friends and family were catered for. We didn’t eat evening meal in the restaurant but had we wanted to the staff said they could cater for our dietary needs. We stayed at the hotel a couple of nights, at the pool bar, the menu was varied enough, GF pizza, good pasta dishes, sandwiches and gyros. More expensive than in the village but not exorbitant. Cocktails were a couple of euros more than the village and the beach side hotels. A downside, it was €5 for a pool tower, non refundable, and rechargeable for another if you wanted a clean one. so we bought our own beach sheet in the village for €8. Pool area was lovely, surrounded by gardens, which was beautiful, however, we all got bites, so be prepared. We sprayed repellent but they still got us. Staff were outstanding, nothing was too much, Maria at reception was very helpful and Froza at the pool bar really friendly. It’s a 15-20 minute walk to the village where there are plenty of shops, bars, restaurants, a church and a nice beach. We utilised the free transfer to the sister hotel on the beach which had sunbeds with mattresses and parasols, free, a gorgeous bar area overlooking the beach and an amazing restaurant serving fresh fish. A lovely authentic hotel.

Let me start by saying I probably would had enjoyed my stay more if I lived in the city and not rurally as this hotel consists of old stone houses with rooms in a quiet countryside setting which is much like my home. The Petrino Suites are situated on a very busy main road about a 15-20 minute walk from Afytos where all the bars, restaurant and life was,so we found it a little remote with overpriced food and drink to match,we used to walk down in the evening and get a taxi back for 5 Euros.I had upgraded to a deluxe maisonette with private pool which on first glance looked idyllic, that was until you had to navigate very steep stairs to the bedroom which were precarious especially after a drink and I am able bodied. The private pool was also a let down as it was full of flies and insects but the main pool was much better and pleasant to swim in.Breakfast was clearly aimed at the continental, pastry loving brigade and fresh fruit was in short supply which I can only put down to the weather. The hotel did offer a daily free shuttle bus to the sister hotel “The White Suites” which is situated on the beach and owned by the same family so we tended to go down there as we found it a much more pleasant setting to a much better standard. All staff we encountered were professional, friendly and were keen to help and the service was spot on.Mosquitoes and flies annoyed me the most but I understand it is out of the hotel’s control so make sure you take copious amounts of repellent and be prepared that you’re out in the sticks.

If you seek authentic, Greek accommodation (as opposed to typical hotel boxes), in a chilled, beautiful environ, this is your place!! Small & intimate, with the most amazing, ever helpful staff (nothing is ever to much trouble)! Located within a short walk of Afitos (away from the tourist mayhem), yet close enough to enjoy it's gastronomy & bars. Their breakfasts can only be described as amazing (& rarely bettered even by 5* hotels)!! An amazing place & couldn't recommend highly enough (having spent a summer Greek Island hopping many years ago I was nervous returning to Greece), I shouldn't have been as this place was like stepping back in time & exceeded all expectations!

Beautiful place, excellent staff, lovely accommodation. Nice walk to the village and beach. Definitely visit the sister hotel White Suites, restaurant is excellent. Bar food was good if you didn’t want to walk into the village, gf options too. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice, again gf options, staff were lovely and accommodating. We moved from the new building to the more authentic Greek accommodation, without any problems. Pool area was nice and clean, sunbeds were plenty. Will go back soon.

We had a lovely short stay here. The staff were lovely and friendly, the room was very spacious and the food was very good. The pool is a good size but the bottom has a pebbled effect surface which is very uncomfortable to walk or stand on. Was disappointed that we needed to book the shuttle to the beach the day before because what we wanted to do was dependent on the weather on the day. A comfortable walking distance from the village of Afitos.

We arrived after midnight as out flight was delayed and shown to our room by Maria. The room had extremely steep stairs and I had emailed previously to ask for a ground floor room as I'm not good at all with stairs. The next morning we asked to change room to one on the ground floor and Maria very kindly and attentively sorted this out for us. All of the staff in all parts of the hotel are very friendly and helpful, we couldn't fault them at all. Our new ground floor room was spacious and clean and the bathroom was a good size. There was also a very decent size veranda which was very relaxing. The hotel offers to clean your room and change your sheets and towels each day but some days we said that we didn't really need it. The air con worked well in 40+C. One of my personal bug bears in the med is the lack of recycling. I did enquire about this at reception and was told that we could take recycling to them and they would sort it but a few days later recycling bins arrived. The pool area is peaceful and you can just sit and read etc. The pool itself is just the right size for the hotel. There are not that many sunbeds and only a few that have sun all day, they are very comfortable though. We didn't use the pool bar as we got what we needed from the local supermarket. It seemed a bit expensive but the food that people did order looked very nice. We would recommend a taxi to the supermarket if you want to stock up on water, wine etc on the first day. The hotel will call them for you and there is a special rate of 5 euro. The breakfast was really very good and had an extensive choice, literally something for everyone. They bring your hot drinks to order, if you want tea make sure that you say black tea (which does come with milk) or you will get green tea. The village is a 10-15 minute walk (the road opposite the hotel) and all of the restaurants are really nice and authentic. Typical cost of around 50 euros for two including drinks. The staff outside the restaurants are friendly and not pushy. Though we never go back to the same place twice we would highly recommend this hotel and area for a relaxing holiday.

As a family we all absolutely loved the Petrino Suites Hotel. The grounds the suites are situated in are beautiful, relaxing and very tranquil. The staff, especially Maria, Maria and Froso were extremely helpful and couldn't do any more for us during our stay. We really did leave feeling like family and miss them all so much. We stayed in a family room which was perfect for us, our children had a separate room to sleep in off the side of the main room, there was a sofa for us to relax on, mini fridge to keep drinks cool, TV, Kettle, Hairdryer etc. Towels were changed daily and you could hire a pool towel for 5 euros for the duration of your trip. We ate at the pool bar and in the restaurant, the food was very fresh and tasted delicious. The buffet breakfast was diverse and gave us lots of variety over the 10 days we stayed. We loved going to breakfast every morning and sitting in the beautiful gardens listening to the crickets. My son keeps asking if we can bring the chef over to England! The ice cream at the pool bar was the best we have ever tasted! The bar shuts at 10pm, so its nice and quiet. We would have enjoyed the occasional evening entertainment, but there wasn't anything on during our stay. Myself and my son both had massages at the spa and came away feeling very relaxed. The fact my 9 year old could have a massage was a bonus as he loves them. The spa was very good value for money and I would highly recommend a visit to the spa during your stay. The local village took us about 12 mins to walk to, there was plenty of variety of restaurants, gift shops and a supermarket. Its a quaint little village which is very picturesque and looks out over the sea. If you carry on through the village and down the hill you can walk to the beach but the hill is quite steep and it can get very hot during the summer months. Snorkelling is a must, the water is as clear as anything and you can see so many fish. Our children enjoyed Kallitheas Beach the most as there were less rocks as you walked out to sea and a bit more room to play in the sand. We have definitely got the holiday blues now and hope to visit again some time soon.

This is abit of a messy review as we were not actually meant to be staying at this resort. Our orignal booking was cancelled less than 24 hours before we arrived. It was arranged originally that we would spend 2 nights at petroni suites. When we arrived we were greeted by Maria and offered welcome drinks and popcorn. We had to wait a little while to head to our FIRST room. After about 20 minutes and alot of information given to us about our messy stay we went to our room. Small duplex style room which had been renovated. Modern and classic greek style and very pretty. We had a small outdoor area which backed onto sunflower fields and the first thing i noticed was BUGS everywhere. No matter the repellent or bug sprays you were going to get bitten. We went to go to bed and found we had no top sheet so rang and was brought one very quickly. The following day we moved to the SECOND room which on arrival we were told we would be paying €140 per night of our stay. We arrived in a superior maisonette with a pool and garden area. Super pretty but abit dated and the room needed some work. The room was clean but not immaculate. My boyfriend who has recently had a broken leg really struggled with the stairs to the bedroom. Ans again bugs everywhere!! They seem to even be able to come through the slots in the roof and the bug nets. I was bitten head to toe within 24 hours and nothing repelled them or eased the itching. After speaking to Maria we found out we would now be staying for 4 nights which was over half our holiday. I really wasnt impressed with how our booking had been handled on both ends as they are under the same brand. Breakfast was good, very traditional and not your standard english breakfast. Plenty of drink options hot and cold. Food mainly cold with the addition of a luke warm fried egg. Mainly pastrys, bread, donuts and a small fruit selection. What i can say though the waitresses at breakfast/dinner are outstanding!! The young girls are so lovely and chatty and welcoming! The stay was nice but expect to get bitten to death. The trees sing theres that many bugs! We woke up to HUGE grasshopper/locust type things. Hotel is clean, not immaculate. Pool side is nice and relaxing with plenty of beds. Wish there was more entertainment on the evenings. The four nights we stayed there was one evening with a saxophone player who was really good! You dont need to carry money or cards with you as its all charged to your room and you pay when you leave. However we went to pay and were charged more than €150 more than what we had originally paid for our holiday due to the rooms . I feel we should have received some type of discount for the fact in 7 days we had to change rooms and repack 3 times. With absolutely no fault of our own. We got messed around quite abit with rooms and stays. Definitely recommend hirering a car as theres not much local to the hotel. Closest supermarket was 10 mins drive
