We wasn’t welcomed very well and the bar staff did not acknowledge us when we arrived. The bar staff seemed miserable with not a smile in sight. However, I have no choice to rate this establishment highly on its food and drink and extremely good value. The food was excellent and the lady /staff that brought out the food were kind and smiling. It’s just a shame the front of house staff aren’t as welcoming as the back of house.

Comfortable, quite room. Would have given 5* had the double bed been a king. Having said that, there was a single bed in the room as well, but I didn't want to create unnecessary washing. Tea/coffee and biscuits in the room plus promised hairdryer. Good wifi. Breakfast next door in the pub was very good. We didn't eat here in the evening but the menu looked really nice. Small restaurant so I would think booking would be sensible. Parking is available on the street. We parked on the opposite side of the green, but we didn't get back till 10pm ish so prime parking had already gone.

Don't go!!! We were on a family holiday and popped into the pub for something to eat. I opened the door into the pub with a toddler and said hello to the barman he didn't even smile or speak ! We sat outside and did have a drink but decided not to eat there as that pub did not deserve our money . The village is beautiful but would not go in that pub again . We moved onto Bainbridge and got a far better welcome

West Burton is a gorgeous village with nice walks, village green and this great pub. We went for family lunch and there were good options for kids, friendly staff and reasonable prices. A cosy pub, nice atmosphere and good staff. Will definitely visit again.

What a lovely village, a shop, a pup and a waterfall all with a set of stocks on the green if you misbehave. Having visited the waterfall walking distance was the Fox and Hounds so in we went gasping for a coffee and a bacon butty. Along came the hard working landlord and served up our food and drinks then off we went for another walk. A hour later we returned and since the bacon butties were so good we had another round of them.

Nice room with a view, comfortable bed and helpful staff. The pub is lively in the evenings and staff are a mine of usefel local information. The waterfall a few minutes away is lovely.

My main problem was with the electricity. The PowerPoint for my electric razor didn't work, so I was given an alternative three to two adapter, but this didn't work either. I bought myself a new electric razor, but I couldn't charge this up properly. So all the time I was at the property. I was badly shaved.

Recently stayed here for a night with the wife as part of a little get away. On the whole, no issues with checking in or the room. I'm not quite sure how it makes a 4 star hotel, but for the price and location, the rooms are more than adequate for a B&B. Very dated and in need of a bit of modernisation, but clean and presentable. There is no parking on site, and being a small village, it's fine leaving a car on the road just a bit further down from the pub. The lady I initially spoke to said they had room to park motorcycles in the small courtyard (we were on a bike) which was correct. Seemed nice and secure and right outside the room. So why have I given it 1 star? Well, the meals and service is what dragged it right down. After a long day riding, we de-kitted and headed to the pub/restaurant for food in search of a fresh homemade hearty meal. The reviews had been good, so I had high hopes. We ordered a meal each (She had the salmon and I had the home made suet steak and kidney pudding). It arrived quite quickly, but sadly my "pudding" was frozen in the middle. Not just cold, frozen. I returned to the bar to let them know... Whilst not ideal, I appreciate that mistakes do happen. Sometime later, they returned with another plate (after my wife had finished eating her meal) . Whilst not frozen, it wasn't warm in the middle and was colder the further I got into it. Sadly it still wasn't edible. I again returned to the bar to let them know. Not even a "sorry". Just a grunt and asked if I wanted another one... I choose not too (mainly as the salmon the wife had was a frozen one that had been defrosted and wasn't that great - as they had attempted to do with my meal). I did ask if there was anywhere local that was open that we could get a meal at, and was told that there wasn't at this time of day (18:40 ish). Not content with this, I took to Google... and found the nearest village about 25 mins away did have a few restaurants and takeaways. I opted to ride back out with wife and find something decent to eat together as originally planned. Whilst I appreciate that things can go wrong in a kitchen and microwaves are sometimes difficult to use, the inability of the staff to even apologise for not being able to serve food was really poor and for me a clear indication of poor service. Had that been one of my businesses, I'd genuinely have been embarrassed to have that happen once, let alone twice. But to offer nothing as way of an apology and only suggest that they would knock the frozen/cold meal off the bill is really poor. We order two meals... Not one so I could watch my wife eat and then take an hour out of my evening to have to travel elsewhere to find food. Really poor guys. You had your chance to apologise and instead in the morning at check out all I got was "I've knocked the meal off you didn't eat" and "I don't know what happened with the meal last night". Wow... Maybe don't cook things if you don't understand that frozen foo
