WE VISITED HOUSTON in May 2021 as a weekend couples' getaway. (We joined another couple that was staying at another hotel.) On Friday night, we got take-out from Turkey Leg Hut, and ate our meal, courtside/poolside late night. IT WAS A WONDERFUL EVENING. The hotel's courtyard and fire pit offered great ambiance for laughter, food, and drinks! (Also, we were able to get wine glasses, plates and utensils from our suite to take back to the courtyard.) Even with COVID-19 restrictions, the hotel offered ”hot” breakfast, ready-to-go, each morning: Pancakes, sausage, omelets, along with the usual continental breakfast options. Our room was comfortable with a good lay-out. The room was clean (and we are picky). Staff was extremely pleasant and accommodating. Although we didn't have many requests, We chatted with other guests and were told amazing stories about how the hotel staff went above and beyond with some of their requirements and requests. The location was ideal! We were walking distance from boutique restaurants, shops and a walking trail. We HIGHLY recommend this hotel whenever you stay in Houston if you are looking for a cozy retreat in a boutique/chic location of town. Thank you and KUDOS to management and staff! Great job! ALSO: The food at Turkey Leg Hut was SO GOOD! Takeout is only a 30-minute wait/Order online. ENJOYED the Downtown Aquarium. Be sure to take the train ride and do the stingray encounter. (P.S. - I am a writer, hence, lengthy review.)

Econo Lodge Inn & Suites West – Energy Corridor

Enegy Corridor Houston|2.53km from Schlumberger
My family and I checked into this hotel, which is actually an Econo Lodge Inn & Suites West - Energy Corridor, at 9pm on May 28, 2019, after a long day of sightseeing. We just wanted to check in and go to sleep. I booked a 2-queen bed, NON-smoking room. We were give Room #222. We walked in and it STANK of smoke. I went back to the front desk and asked for another NON-smoking room. We were given Room #231 and it too STANK of smoke. So we went back to the front desk. The only other non-smoking room available was a single king bed with a fold out sofa, which was not what we needed. Since EconoLodge was not able to provide the room that I had booked, I asked for a refund. The manager advised that since the room was booked through Hotels.com it need to be refunded by Hotels.com. So, I called Hotels.com while my husband called around for a room at other hotels. The Hotels.com representative understood my complaint and put me on hold while she reached out to the hotel manager to get his perspective on the situation. He confirmed that we had been in 2 rooms and we smelled cigarette smoke and that we had requested a refund and left (so did not use our reservation); BUT he would not refund our stay. Since EconoLodge would not refund Hotel.com, Hotels.com could not refund me. So EconoLodge took my money! They should not be paid for a room they sold that they could not provide! It is a scam! DO NOT BOOK HERE! AVOID!

Fantastic staff. Fantasia and Ali at the front desk were total professionals. Both were delightfully personable and engaging, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and take care of our individual needs. We will go out of way to stay here next time we’re in Houston.

Traveling recently for work stayed at this hotel for a week and felt very comfortable. Clean, quiet, and on mornings when I had to leave before the breakfast buffet was open was offered a little bagged breakfast to have in my room. Michelle was looking after the desk most evenings that we were there and she made sure that we had everything we needed. Very professional, patient, kind and just an overall model of superior customer service. I will definitely stay there again.

It wasn't anything to blow my mind, it met the minimal of my expectations. We encountered a problem as soon as we got there which management dealt with, somewhat quickly. Breakfast is OK, nothing too special. I did feel that if they were going to serve opened pastries and use paper plates, then they may as well have utilized bulk sealed pastries. Nothing extravagant, or over the top. Very basic, but I have high standards when it comes to value, and cleanliness. My bare minimum standards were met. Staff was helpful and nice. There is a bar right next to it (practically se parking lot), so if you don't want to encounter the noise issue, asked to be on the opposite side.

I am very sorry, the evaluation is late, the environment is very good, the service is good, there is gym, swimming pool, but the weather is cooler and there is no tour, breakfast is good, it is basically the same every day.

In ordinary times I might be more forgiving of this hotel. The staff was friendly (although none of them wore masks), and the room was comfortable enough for a Holiday Inn. But these are not ordinary times. And the fact that no one working at the hotel wore a mask - there was no hand sanitizer available and there were no signs promoting elevator safety concern me greatly. Every time I went to ride the elevator - some other guest (usually with no mask on) would want to get into the elevator with me. I was visiting a sick relative and I certainly don't want to bring someone else's germs home with me. In other regards - the laundry room on the 4tb floor was broken, the trash was overflowing with beer cans and the remote for my TV was partially broken. The volume would toggle up but not down and the TV would turn on but not off. The bed was comfortable and I have no other complaints. But I don't feel like this was a sanitary place to stay during a pandemic.
