I had an amazing stay here on June 11 2023. Arrived and was greeted with friendly employees who was willing to assist me with my luggage and with a bright smile too! Met Omer from concierge and we spoke for a brief period of time with him explaining to me about the whereabouts in Istanbul. Also, Kubra showed me to my room and explained in detail about the room amenities. Before checking out, when I had my breakfast ( great selection) Kubra showed up, asked about my stay, whether everything was alright and my experience visiting Istanbul. She and the rest of the bellman team even send me off. So sweet of them! Room was cosy and I like the ambience of it. Location was great since it is near all the attractions. My stay was for two nights. If you want a hotel that is not too busy and crazy, i would suggest this hotel. Shoutout to Kubra and Omer! Hope to see the both of you when I am back in Istanbul!

A perfect place to stay in Sultanahmet ambiance. Its location is close to all historical places. It is a highly recommended hotel as a location. The rooms are very clean and I love the view. There are more pros than cons, but there are cons. The hotel is composed of a number of independent houses, located on a public street, i.e., to go from one room to another or to the reception/restaurant, you have to go out to the street and go into another building. It is not cozy at all. The hotel is located at a stone's throw from the Topkapi Palace, the Hagia Sofia Mosque, the Blue Mosque and the Water Cistern. You walk less than 3 minutes to get to any of them. On the other hand, amid Istanbul’s traffic, the worst I have ever seen in my life, the traffic near the hotel is the worst of the worst. Very easy to get to the places I mentioned, a nightmare to get in and out of an extremely bad location traffic wise to the generally very bad traffic elsewhere in town. Rooms are decorated in Turkish style, spacious and modern. All convenience you would expect from an hotel of this category are available. Were it not for the location, it would not have been the best choice in my opinion.

Arrived last Friday evening, nice welcome, was informed I had to pay for my room, I had pre-paid, which on inspection, it was agreed I didn't have to pay again.... Dinner on Friday night was exquisite, fabulous service, amazing food, expensive but worth it, the restaurant and rooftop bar are independent of the hotel. Saturday morning, went for a lovely breakfast, back to the room and realised my room door did not lock, informed reception, and a gentleman arrived shortly afterward to check the door. Firstly he said it was my key card that was at fault. When I asked if I could show him the issue, he rolled his eyes and said no. When he did allow me to demonstrate, he walked away from me saying it was technical. I had to call after him to see if it would be fixed, he did not turn around but walking away said, ten minutes. the door was fixed eventually but the whole episode took around an hour. Before I left the hotel (11:20am) I dropped a dress at reception to be pressed. I got back to the hotel just before 9pm, went to my room, no dress, down at reception i asked where it was, the gentleman on reception called the laundry service, and at the end of the call, I had to ask what was happening. I was told laundry would call him back. He then asked what I had left, colour etc. so it could have been in the laundry in a sister hotel, I would get it on Sunday. I explained I was leaving on Sunday and needed the dress now, if it hadn't been ironed yet, to just return it to me.

Everything about this place is perfect. Don't get shocked by the small entrance and reception. We arrived at 2:00 am in the morning and Mr. Mourad welcomed us in a friendly way and even offered food since we will not be able to wake up early for breakfast 😅. The room is very clean and spacious (deluxe). The location is very close to tram and walking distance to a looooot of places. We have a very close supermarket, money exchange places, restaurants, even taxis are everywhere. The room is clean and the service is exquisite. The breakfast is cute and nice prepared by Ms. Areefa. During the day we met Mr. Kevin who is very welcoming and friendly as well. The Hotel staff were like our family, caring and warm. If I am back to Istanbul, that will very my choice to stay

Honestly you guys made our stay extremely pleasant and joyful which is simply unforgettable, we arrived at 8am Turkey time and were given a warm welcome by the stuff around the reception area specially Kadir your pleasant smile and superb hospitality I will always remember. We were extremely tired after the flight and you offered absolutely delicious breakfast on our first day although we weren’t entitled to it until the following day. After that Ferhan you really have highlighted your generosity and professionalism by offering us the most beautiful and luxurious room which we cannot thank you enough for it. You and your team were always there to give us support and advice whenever we needed it. Also not to forget Ibrahim thank you so much for the tea and fruit that you often sent to our room and this proves the amazing hospitality of Turkish people. The rooms are spotless and quiet for a city centre, with an internet connection on the TV where you can access youtube for some tranquility. East meets west in Istanbul and the whole holistic experience gave us a holiday of a lifetime. The local building code does not require an exhaust fan in the bathroom. I guess it is not a huge issue, but somewhat different from a typical North American hotel.

Laundry service was inexpensive, hotel hygiene and breakfast was excellent. However, it was a disadvantage that the business was too eager to apply for a tour through the hotel while pretending to be informed about Istanbul.

We really enjoyed our interaction with the respectable receptionist, Eren. His friendly and humorous nature instantly put us at ease. He even kindly offered us tea and allowed us to use the printer for our boarding passes. Such a welcoming attitude truly enhances the overall experience. However, this was our 6th stay at Leyanda Hotel since 2016, and we were disappointed with our experience in 2023. We noticed several areas where the hotel has regressed. First and foremost, the increased pricing didn't align with the value we received. Unfortunately, there were no perks or discounts offered for loyal customers, which was quite disheartening. The behaviour of the other receptionists during our stay was a stark contrast to Eren and our previous visits. They were rude, lacked basic manners, and seemed unwilling to assist with any of our requests. When we requested an extension of our stay at a discounted rate, we were quoted a higher price than what was available on ***********. One of the major letdowns was the breakfast. In previous years, it was a delightful spread with a wide variety of options. However, this time, it was notably limited, with an excessive focus on cheese and salad. While cheese can be enjoyable, we missed the variety of fruits, cakes, and hot items that were once offered. The use of large bowls instead of packaged jams and chocolate spreads made things messy and less appealing. Chipped tea cups were not expected, and the tea itself left much to be desired. It tasted like hot water and was clearly not brewed properly. Even the tea facilities in the room were lacking, with small disposable cups, unlike the proper tea cups found in most boutique hotels. Maintenance issues were prevalent throughout our room. One of the bedside lamps was missing. Additionally, a cupboard handle was also missing and it took a complaint to have one replaced. The bedside table had a broken glass, and a sharp edge posed a safety hazard. Finally, the shower gutter had a drainage problem, which resulted in water pooling during showers. It's our hope that these issues can be addressed to bring Leyanda Hotel back to the high standards we had experienced on our previous visits
