Very cramped room. Staff were helpful. Food is good. Easy walk to the Ferry and John o Groats township. Aaron's of Wick bus will drop you at the door and pick you up from there.

The menu is probably from another era since half of it was unavailable. Although the descriptions of the meals seemed appetizing at first, what we actually got in our plates was extremely basic and void of refinement. Very nice and friendly service. Avoid local beer. Stella is your best bet.

The only hotel we stayed in during our NC500 trip was underwhelming. The room is adequate, the highlight being the shower, once I tightened the head. The room we stayed in also had a lovely view of John O’groats. The breakfasts were nice enough. An array of options, but nothing over the top and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We dined for one out of the two nights we stayed, and would recommend taking a drive slightly further afield for a main meal. There were various dishes missing from the menu, and we had to wait 45 minutes for our starters. The food was very basic, the plates dirty upon service, and didn’t leave feeling the amount paid reflected the food we had.

On arrival we were shunted across the road to what looked like a hostel. The room was small dark and tbh not too clean. To her credit, the nice receptionist moved us to a room in the main hotel, after advising her we had actually paid for a hotel room not a hostel. I suspect unsuspecting guests may also suffer the same fate. This room was pretty tatty, rusty radiator wood around the shower not in good condition, that sort of thing. This hotel would be better placed in Blackpool not Scotland. The whole hotel looks a little tried and scruffy - we would not return! The walls are paper thin which is annoying. On a VERY positive note, the restaurant was excellent and food good, both for the evening meal and breakfast. The young girls serving are an absolute credit to your hotel.

We booked this place because of its proximity to the port as we had a full day cruise to the Orkney Islands. The only good thing we could find for this place was the meals in the restaurant. We were very disappointed about the room - floor creaked as we moved about. We could hear the shower from the room next door. Weren’t happy with a couple of dogs barking on our level. Recommend you look elsewhere.

Hotel was ok rooms at annex building was dated the furniture could do with being replaced as stool for dresser was all ripped as was the headboard beddding was clean as was the room but you can’t hide age ! T.v was the size of a postage stamp pointless when ur vision is not great We ate in restaurant and a had lasagne but it was drowned in oil so bad that my napkin only soaked some of it up the garlic bread was soft and soggy , the lentil and bacon soup was terrible lentil not cooked enough and all fatty bits of bacon in it service was not great as staff were busy eating there own chips in kitchen while customers were left waiting for service , breakfast was ok guy doing service was nice but again tables missing spoons tea spoons milk for cold coffee that was served kept running out of crossonts and OJ needs some training in the service area

Wanted a place to stay and eat after my distillery tour in Wick the night before my ferry to Kirkwall. Great location a five minute walk to the ferry and signpost. Room was across the street from the main hotel and was small but functional with a great view. The restaurant was quite good. My fish pie was much. Water than expected. My sundae with salted caramel and Orkney fudge had no fudge! Breakfast was so so but passable. The area around the hotel is very walkable and the beautiful weather didn’t hurt. Seeing this is the only hotel in the area it exceeded my expectations. Excellent bar too.

We were camping in John O Groats and were recommended this place for food. As other reviews have mentioned, the decor when you first walk in will alarm you slightly but ignore that, the food is good with big portions, the staff are tentative and the price is very reasonable. All in, a good place to eat if staying in JOG

Really good pub with good food at very reasonable prices. Staff are really good and very friendly. Menu has something for everyone and the bar stocks a good range of drinks. The top shelf has numerous whiskeys for you to try. Can't give this place enough praise
