The bed was comfy. The view was amazing. The staff were very friendly. The location is very close to downtown but up a hill so very very quiet. The food is good, EXCEPT the mutton biryani. Don't order the Mutton Biryani it was just tough fatty meat that you couldn't chew unless you want to feel like you're chewing on an old piece of gum.

The hotel made a good deal first: the hotel's scenery is unparalleled, and you can overlook Kandy from the roof (Pictures 1 & 2); the breakfast is also pretty good, one set per person, I chose Sri Lanka (Picture 3)
Next, there is a very serious problem:
First of all, when making a reservation, please read clearly that "accommodating 1 person". If there is a second person after arriving at the hotel, 20USD will be charged.
Secondly, the reception in the lobby was not very friendly to Chinese people. He walked up to us with a smile and asked, "Are you Japanese?" We said, "No, we are Chinese." Then he turned around and left...
Furthermore, the room is not very clean, look at the sheets in picture 4
Most importantly, if you are sensitive to musty smells, don’t order! ! ! The room smelled musty as soon as it was opened, as you can tell by looking at the sofa in Figure 5 below; after reporting it to the front desk, their solution was to spray air freshener...

This beautiful and old hotel is located on top of a hill in Kandy and give you a magnificent view. Breakfast and dinner Buffet was diverse and delicious. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were really friendly, helpful and attentive. They consider my cousin's birthday and surprise her with a Birthday cake while we were eating breakfast, and then they have decorated our room while we were out on city tour.

Excellent location and views. Warm welcome and reception. Very pleasant lobby with plenty of luxurious sitting areas. Check-in was swiftly done while sitting on the comfortable chair having the welcome fresh juice and then tea. The room is very spacious, and I guess it was an upgrade as it was very big with two sitting areas and even a dining table. Comfort room is well equipped for handicapped. View from the room , roof, or restaurant were awesome. Plenty TV channels in all languages. All essential room amenities are available. Breakfast and dinner were buffet that satisfy all tastes. The dynamic director; Mr Hilary, is continuously roaming around and appears from everywhere ensuring the comfort and satisfaction of all guests. I can't thank him enough for all the help he offered during my stay. Really, I would have loved to extend my stay in the hotel longer. And, it really made competition and comparison with other hotels difficult because of the very high standards offered. We had the chance to see several weddings during our stay . Check out was easy, and luckily, the bell boy found forgotten items which he brought to our car. Definitely, that memory will last long time . I wish I could be able to come back and just spend my vacation in the hotel.

This is our favourite hotel in the world. We are escaping cold weather in Geneva Switzerland and spending three months here. We enjoy the gym and the pool every day. Plus the food is excellent, the staff are friendly and efficient and we are very comfortable. Clint in room service is a wonderful guy, Hilary is a great guy as are all of the fellows at the gym and pool. Sumith makes a new animal with only two towels every day. I am adding a few photos with him and today he made a turtle.

My friend and I arrived from Canada, and stayed at the Grand Kandyan for 2 weeks in January 2024. We were so pleased with our stay: the hotel itself is beautiful especially at it’s price point, food was delicious, and best of all was the experience that Jenudeen (tour guide partnered with the hotel) and Lea (hotel manager) gave us. Jenudeen is knowledgeable, helpful, caring, and patient. I don’t speak the local language, and he made our day to day so much easier. Lea was so thoughtful and tuned into our needs during the stay. She is the best hotel manager I’ve ever met, across all the countries and hotels I’ve stayed in. Thank you for making our time in Sri Lanka extra memorable, and I’m excited to return in 2025!!
