Located in Furuyu, it's convenient for traveling by rental car. The ryokan is small, but I was very satisfied with the accommodations, the hospitality, and the food. As someone who majored in Japanese cuisine, the food was truly excellent. The staff were all friendly, and although the room I booked on the website differed from the actual room, the staff handled it very well, making for a very comfortable stay. I would like to express my gratitude to all the staff.

A long-established ryokan with hot spring water flowing from the source.
This hot spring inn is run by a very warm and welcoming elderly lady, making us feel right at home. The inn is clean and hygienic, with new facilities, and the Japanese-style rooms are quite warm at night. The location is excellent, right next to the bus stop from Saga Station. The lady's service was superb; she thoughtfully prepared dinner and breakfast for us. Dinner was generous and delicious, and breakfast was also very nice. The inn's hot spring water is around 38 degrees Celsius, originating from the ”Xu Fu Spring” discovered by Xu Fu, who sought the elixir of immortality during the Qin Dynasty. At this temperature, you could soak in the hot spring all day—it was wonderful. I hope to have the opportunity to come again. Thank you so much for the lady's hospitality.
It was convenient to have my reservation name at the entrance. The owner was so kind and warm, and I had a comfortable stay. I had a quick flight the next morning, so I had to check out quickly, but I wish I had stayed longer. The bedding, towels, and other items were all very clean. It feels like a historic place, so it has a warm and cozy atmosphere, but that's what makes it so special. The large bath was also very clean. I felt like all the fatigue from my days of travel had been washed away. If you don't rent a car, it might seem far to get there, but the bus number 73 from Saga Station takes about 50 minutes. There are about one or two buses per hour. If you pay attention to the timing, it's a reasonable distance. Also, I regret not being able to fully enjoy the meals served at the ryokan because I overate over the past few days. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. We were only two people, but dinner was generous enough for four. The food was also the best I had during my entire trip to Japan. They were very friendly, but a translator is definitely a must. I recommend the Papago app. The bath fee is 300 yen, payable in cash upon check-out. When traveling in Japan... always have plenty of cash! The bus fare was a bit steep, haha.

The room was decorated very comfortably and beautifully, and the quality of the two meals was excellent and I was very satisfied. The kaiseki cuisine was full of ritualistic charm, which amazed my friend who was experiencing a hot spring hotel for the first time.

Ddd17bbIt’s an absolute bliss to stay in Suginoya, a luxurious ryokan in Saga. Our saga beef sukiyaki dinner was truly memorable as the quality of the meat was top notch- so soft yet flavorful, something we will remember for a long time. We enjoyed relaxing in the private and public bath, soaking in the zen vibes of the hotel and lounging in the spacious and comfortable room. Staff was friendly and tried to converse in English as best as possible. 100% recommend as we felt fully pampered here like it was our honeymoon all over again!
AA traveling loverThe hotel had a very good location which is just next to the JR station. The room is very clean and has a good view. Staff at the reception are very attentive and helpful. Breakfast is a buffet style with excellent food. But it would be better if dessert or some fruit could be served too. Anyway the breakfast was very good.
1171376****I stayed at this hotel for a few days during my trip, and I highly recommend it! The location is fantastic. One exit from the JR station leads directly to the Combox shopping mall (where the supermarket on the first floor offers 50% off at 7 PM and 20% off at 6 PM), and also to what seems to be the most bustling street in the area – probably a main thoroughfare. At night, the trees lining the street outside are beautifully decorated with light strips. The JR station itself has plenty of great food options, so even if you're a bit late for lunch, there's no need to worry. On the other side, just a 2-minute walk away at the intersection, is the Comfort Hotel. Although it's not large, and the rooms are small and compact in a Japanese style, they are very clean. The rooms seem to have central heating; it felt warm as soon as I entered, as shown in picture three. Both check-in and check-out are self-service at machines by the entrance, which can be switched to Simplified Chinese, making the process smooth and seamless. If I had any issues during my stay, the hotel staff were patient listeners and actively helpful. The breakfast was also excellent; while not a huge variety, the taste was great, as seen in picture two.
GGuest UserMy first experience in Saga. I got a good deal on a flight ticket during the cherry blossom season. I landed in Fukuoka and then headed south to Saga. It was very convenient and there were not many people during the cherry blossom season. The hotel was just opposite Saga Station. I was still debating whether to change to a comfort inn, but found that it was fully booked for the days I wanted to stay. So I thought forget it. A business hotel for 300+, with a bath at night and meals included in the morning, what more could I ask for!
GGuest UserThe surrounding is so quiet, I can really relax. The service is excellent, the ladies are kind and help us a lot. This is a wonderful relax and couple. The food is ok. I will come again.
TTongtongRickySaga doesn't have a vast selection of hotels. Traveling with my parents, I picked this one for its Japanese-style room, hoping they could experience sleeping on a tatami mat.
When we arrived, it wasn't yet check-in time. However, the hotel kindly allowed us to complete the check-in formalities and store our luggage. We then headed straight out to explore the nearby Prefectural Office and grab some lunch.
Upon our return in the afternoon, we simply collected our room key and went directly upstairs. Our luggage had already been conveniently placed in our room.
The room wasn't particularly large; it felt a bit cramped for three people. We coordinated with the front desk before heading out for the evening, and they came in to lay out the futons while we were gone.
Breakfast is served on the first floor. Looking at the price displayed at the entrance, I'd say it wouldn't offer great value for money if purchased separately.
Additionally, as Saga isn't a very bustling city, if you're particular about dining options, staying closer to the station might be more convenient.
SShosangCheck-in was simple. Bicycle rental was 500 yen per day. The building is right next to the main road, with cars passing by all night, so the soundproofing is terrible. The room and kitchen are separated by a curtain, making it very noisy—noise from all sorts of sources. However, the hostel atmosphere was nice, and they provided free earplugs. Everything else, like towels, cost extra, and the towels actually had a distinctly sour smell, which was disgusting. This was the first time I'd stayed in such a poorly hygienic place in Japan. Towels cost 100 yen, and a small cup of cola costs 300 yen. I recommend bringing your own towels.
KKnufbergstravelTiny room with an old and very small Queensize (??) bed. Everything seems to be really old, so does the dust in the corners of the room or of the ventilation in the bathroom.
Service was okay... we could convince them to leave our bicycles outside the hotel entrance (no way to leave them at the ”luggage storage” inside the lobby).
Drinks like coffee, hot chocolate, tea and soft drinks are for free. Microwave free. Also they have a bath house but no sauna for the girls - unfortunately.
Best option in town.
GGuest UserThe sanitation work is good, very clean, but the house is made of iron, the insulation performance is not good, and there is no air conditioning in the public parts, just when the cold air arrives, it is frozen enough.
