We drove from Charlestown to The Talland Bay Hotel for lunch today. We are so glad we did. From arrival to pre lunch drinks to lunch and then a walk around the grounds...everything was amazing. We were a couple and had the whole plaice and rump steak. Both dishes cooked to perfection and delicious. We ate in the conservatory with views to die for. Elsewhere, Christmas decorations were up and the place looks stunning. Hats off to the waiting staff (and chef of course) on a rather quiet day...they made it special for us. It's not cheap, nor should it be in such elegant and so very, very British Cornwall surroundings. A true gem. We will book a stay next time we come. Thank you TB Hotel. x

Truly the best dog friendly stay we have had. The Talland was faultless from start to finish. Staff are attentive and super friendly, and absolutely LOVE dogs! Our room was absolutely beautiful and perfect with the accessible patio outside. Everything had been thought of to the highest standard including the doggy welcome pack with towels, bowls and poo bags! Not to mention homemade dog treats! Guest doggos also receive chicken for dinner, a sausage with breakfast and there’s a dog shower area - perfect after muddy walks! We felt so welcome from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. The food was divine and service impeccable. It’s obvious how much the staff love their jobs because they’re so passionate talking about their beautiful hotel! And we love the unique features - it’s what makes Talland, Talland! We can’t wait to come back. Thank you all from Mabel and co x 🐾

Great Mother’s Day lunch. Superb natural service by Ev very engaging with humour. Not stuffy but professional. Food was extremely well presented and tasty. Lovely terrace dining room with views out to sea. We’ve stayed here in the past and lovely it. Highly recommended.

I went for lunch with a neighbour and the meal was to die for, no wonder the restaurant just keeps winning awards. From the vodka martinis to the espresso coffee all was perfect throughout the afternoon. The portions do not look big enough but they will knock your socks off to say the least, ample and tasty to say the least. Service was great and not pretentious

Hospitality with a Capital H! The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. We loved the quirky eclectic style throughout the hotel. We also thoroughly enjoyed experiencing the tasting menu with wine flight. The location and views were lovely even in the Cornish mizzle. They also cater brilliantly for dogs.

House No. 35 On the day we arrived we noted a number of issues. Hole in bath panel, broken small door on tumble dryer (child face height), broken fridge shelf, (the first two issues were repaired with duct tape that evening). Brambles were growing through the decking on our arrival which we cut off as we had children with us. Soaking wet outdoor furniture cushions, member of staff advised of this on evening of arrival (the Management of the site were unable to dry these in the whole week we stayed there, probably due to the fact that they didn’t remove the covers and dry these and the foam inserts separately, until this suggestion was made to a Director of the Management Company on the Thursday late afternoon when they tried to return the cushions to us still soaking wet!!). A wardrobe door didn’t run properly, screws hanging out, en-suite shower had leaked onto carpet in bedroom and dusty/dirty skirting both in bedroom and inside en-suite shower, frayed blond which doesn’t operate smoothly. Children’s bedroom, safety cord on blind was broken and had been knotted up (a Health & Safety issue), frayed blind again. Main Bathroom - bath shower screen seal was broken and water leaked all over the floor. Outside main path dangerous paving, was cracked, large gaps and loose paving. We stay away in properties two to three times a year and unfortunately House No. 35 was very disappointing. We don’t feel this is a stunning high specification property as advertised, it is not being maintained to that standard. This is not all down to the Owner, the Management of the site should have ensured that the property was checked in between each letting. There were numerous other small issues, advised to them by email and delivered in person. Insufficient glassware for six people (and husband annoyed that there were no glasses suitable for a glass of beer, had to go and buy one), missing lids to saucepans (something they specifically request guests to use to save energy in their Welcome Literature). Lightbulbs that didn’t work and no replacement bulbs to be found. The lighting in fact in the downstairs main bedroom was inadequate, not of sufficient wattage. The photos on all websites advertising this property are out of date. The leather dining room chairs are no longer there and the outside furniture is completely different. Yes, the view is stunning and probably (together with the indoor pool) was the best part of our stay. The young lady who booked us in was also very helpful on the first evening. We were in contact with the Management (a Director) during our stay and also following our return home. Their only offer was a discount on another stay! We said that all we would have liked at the time was, for matters to be dealt with, and perhaps a bottle of wine and a bunch of flowers as an apology.

The houses are lovely and it’s a nice place to stay, but overheard how staff were speaking to cleaners after I’d handed our keys in and just thought it was very disappointing. They were nice to us as customers of course, but the cleaning staff deserve more respect no matter where you are. It has seriously jarred my view of the place, I used to like coming here but I can’t enjoy myself in a place where I know workers are not treated as equals.

We've just returned from a wonderful two night stay at Talland Bay, if only it could have been longer. The hotel is in a wonderful position, at the top of a sheltered valley with views out to sea. From the terraced garden there are views down to the bay itself and we were lucky enough to have a room with a view of the sea. The room was spacious and extremely comfortable, the weather wasn't the best for our stay but it was a joy to sit in the comfortable armchairs in front of the windows watching the sea. We really enjoyed the food. The breakfast menu was varied with a great buffet and cooked options as well. Dinner was great, we had the tasting menu one evening with lots of delicious courses, beautifully paired with the wines. The chef had some interesting and unusual flavour combinations which in our view really worked. Maybe the best thing about our stay was the staff. The two managers were young and enthusiastic and clearly loving working at Talland Bay. Their newly recruited team did an excellent job in making us feel comfortable and well looked after. We really hope to return one day.
