Ibis Liège Centre Opéra

Liege|0.3km from Place Saint-Lambert
The good: Right in the center of Liège, across the street from the opera house. It’s a couple of kilometers from the main train station, meaning a short taxi ride or a 10-minute ride on the number 1 or 4 bus. Bed: excellent, as in all Ibis hotels. Bathroom: Superior here than in most Ibises, with a big shower, great water pressure, and plenty of hot water. Noise: Silent. Parking. There’s a garage directly underneath which has an arrangement with the hotel whereby guests pay 10 euros for 24 hours which is more than reasonable. Housekeeping staff: efficient and pleasant, despite an “issue” which I brought to their attention directly rather than “reporting” it to management. The person in question very nicely assumed responsibility for an oversight. Good person. The less good: Bed linens: I hate the fact that Ibis hotels provide only a duvet, with no top sheet. In the case of this particular Ibis, they had the heating on full-blast, and it cannot be controlled individually. Nor can the window be opened, “for security reasons”, they told me. So one has a choice: roast under the duvet, or sleep naked on top of the mattress. Very very unpleasant. I solve it by always carrying my own top sheet with me. Wifi: excellent but connecting is by no means automatic initially. Problem-solving: Ibis has a policy of solving any guest’s problem within 15 minutes. The front desk is staffed by one person at a time who is overworked and cannot absent him/herself even for a moment. My wifi problem was “solved” by my having to come downstairs and have the front desk person tell me that it was my fault. I sat on my second day for about an hour in the little “bar” adjacent and open to the lobby, where I could witness the 15-minute solution which other guests encountered. With no exception, the answer was no, or the guest was mistaken, or whatever. Nothing was ever resolved at all, much less within 15 minutes. The lobby: Essentially non-existent, and the seating area minuscule. Breakfast: I refused to pay 15 euros for an Ibis breakfast. There are many excellent, reasonably priced cafés nearby. Not good. So the whole experience was a mix. Overall, it was probably the least good Ibis experience I have had. I’ve given it a 3- rather than a 2-star rating beause the basics were there: a good bed and a good shower.

This chain hotel is remodeled from an old building. The overall location is good, and the facilities are also four-star. The size of the room is good, and the bathroom needs to be accessed upstairs. This is a last resort to renovate the building, but the bathroom decoration is okay. The breakfast buffet is good for those who like western food, but those with a Chinese appetite may not be used to it. There is a lot of free parking outside. The restaurant on the first floor should be a good place to eat locally, so many non-hotel guests eat here. In short, it is worth recommending.

I stayed one night in a business room. Room looked like the picture, so it was nice and clean. Staff was nice, i could leave my trolley while I was visitng the city. Location is in front of the main train station, so very good in case you need to take an early train in the morning. I personally found the room very noisy...noise from the street (buses, etc, even if I was not on the side in fron of the station) and from the colling/heating system...thsi last one really never stopped (even if I didn't turned it on). I used ears plugs but still I could hear everyting. I mentioned this a the reception as I clearly asked for a quiet room at the moment of the reservation and this room supposed to be quiet (the first one they proposed me it was almost in fron of teh elevator so prefered another one) but considering also the location I don't think it is possible. I give average as evaluation because of the staff, the possibility to leave my suitcase and the location good as I needed to take a train in the early morning but as I mentioned for comfort I would give a very low evaluation unfortunately because of the noise.

We recently visited the hotel on a quick trip to Belgium. We chose Liege cause it sounded like a great city and believe us, it really was! It’s vibrant and full of life so we’ll definitely be back. From check-in to check-out, our stay was incredible, to say the least. Upon arriving at the hotel, the staff were as friendly and inviting as they could be. They made us feel safe and comfortable, especially regarding COVID protocols - there are plenty of covid safe procedures implemented. When it comes to the rooms, ours was incredible! The bed was super comfortable, there is a desk which was great for us since we work from our laptops and they’re spacious with ample storage spaces, not to mention that we were blown away by the design of the rooms and the hotel in general! Another score of 10/10 for the breakfast Top-notch from start to finish. Can't wait to be back!

We were with a group of 14 people and were looking for a cheap night, usually we go for a IBIS. However, this Ibis was positive by the friendly reception and extensive breakfast, lovely! Even fresh pressed juice d'orange. The rooms are basic, without the possibility of putting coffee/tea on their own. Also there was no toilet brush on the room (room 102). The inconvenience is that the doors of the bathroom are not sounded but you can hear a hard ”clack” to shut down. If the neighbors go to the toilet in the night, you will wake up from here. The location on the industrial site is not beautiful but just a little away from the The place is not beautiful but there is everything to shopping, very many advertising tables along the road. All with a great hotel for sleeping/ breakfast. Unfortunately the breakfast room is very small and uncomfortable. - It's a hard-seat floor.

Opposite is the train station, which is very small at the door of the hotel. There is no hole in the room. The room is large, there is a radiator, it is easy to wash clothes, and the hotel is 500 meters away from the right. There are several good French restaurants.
