Great location only 5 minutes from Angel tube station. Breakfast was lovely, tasty, well cooked and lots of choice. Rooms were a decent size and clean, with effective air conditioning.
The only negatives were that we asked for room on a quieter side of the building and I was woken at 6.30 am with the bottle bin being emptied along with all the trollies of bedding and towels being delivered, we were clearly over the service entrance! Also the reception smelt of vomit… unsure why but it was constant during our stay.
The milk was not replenished for the tea and coffee in the room and had to ask for this.
5 mins away from the station. Easily access. Friendly staffs and have warm cookies for you. Only sad side was the fire alarm sounded one of the night (2am) and no explanation was given.
We are very disappointed with the check-in experience during our recent stay. Unfortunately, the reception staff were far from welcoming, displaying visibly annoyed expressions throughout the process, which made our arrival uncomfortable.
Earlier in the day, we arrived to store our luggage and were informed by the receptionist that we could complete the check-in process then. We were assured that when we returned in the evening, we would simply need to mention our names, and the room keys would be ready. However, upon returning at 11 PM, the receptionist asked for our passports again and began the check-in process from scratch.
Despite our attempts to explain that we had already completed the process, he didn’t listen and abruptly asked, ”Do you know your room number?”
To add to this, when another guest arrived behind us, the receptionist chose to prioritize that guest instead, asking us to wait. He mentioned that the card system was down but seemed dismissive of our situation. We had booked two rooms under different names, and he insisted on checking in one room at a time, further delaying the process. While checking in the second room, he couldn’t find the guest name and kept asking for it, despite holding the passport with the correct information.
Additionally, the signature warm cookies that DoubleTree is known for were not provided to us at check-in. We only received them when we asked during check-out, which was disappointing given that it’s a hallmark of the brand.
This experience was frustrating and fell well below the standards we expected from DoubleTree. We hope you take this feedback seriously and work on improving the guest experience, especially at check-in.
We recently stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Dockside and had a generally pleasant experience with a few areas for improvement.
Location:
The hotel is a bit removed from the city centre, which means you'll need to plan your travel carefully. We found ourselves relying mostly on the boat to Canary Wharf, which, while scenic, adds some time and coordination to each outing.
Check-in Experience:
The check-in process was a highlight. We were greeted warmly with the signature DoubleTree cookies – a small but lovely surprise. Even more thoughtful, the staff noted that we were celebrating a birthday and offered us two complimentary drinks at the bar. That personal touch really made us feel welcomed and appreciated.
Room Comfort:
The room was comfortable enough, but there were a couple of issues worth noting. The soundproofing wasn’t great – we could clearly hear the sea waves throughout the night, which might be relaxing for some, but was a bit disruptive for us. Additionally, the bathroom could have been cleaner. We found garbage left in the bin, which detracted from the overall sense of hygiene and attention to detail.
Overall:
This hotel has some lovely, thoughtful staff and a few standout gestures that enhanced our stay. However, its distance from central London and a few cleanliness and soundproofing issues might not make it ideal for every traveller. With a bit more attention to room maintenance, it could be a much stronger option.
The reception staff were supper friendly and welcoming upon arrival. The room was really spacious and clean, and the beds were super comfy. The hotel is location really close to the overground station, and near a Tescos Express if you need to pick up any additional bits. Would recommend, and would happily stay here again.
Really good hotel, nice location, easy access to central london via bus route and it was easy access with my toddler in push chair with bus every 3 minutes to go to central london
Hospitalilty was noticably positive here. Warm greetings by the staff including a free cookie each. Clear explanations of the deposit, room location and number.
Room is small but more spacious than other London hotels we've stayed at before, there's just enough space to fully open one large suitcase. Overall tidy and clean. Air conditioning works well. The desk is suitable for working at. Nice view out of the window. Selection of tea and coffee provided with a coffee machine and separate kettle.
The bathroom was fine, shower is a good size and works well.
Breakfast buffet was great. Lots of drinks and food option, all good quality. Staff were professional, warm and friendly.
Clean, efficient and has everything you need. Amenities are not in the room when you arrive you must contact the reception to have them delivered to your room.

GGuest UserVery friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Breakfast was nice, plenty of options.
Would stay again and recommend to others.
Only down points were told they didn’t offer bottles of water (even though my Hilton honors stated I get water), and also issue with heating/aircon in room and it was very cold, but they did supply electric heaters.
GGuest UserThe hotel was in the perfect location close to a lot of amenities! Hotel staff were brilliant and always on hand when needed. Enjoyed our stay very much! Warm cookie on check in was the perfect welcome!
