Okay so I’m trying to give them a break - we were literally their last customers before shutting down the pub and hotel for renovations. So with that in mind I’ll start with the pros. Pros: The location given public transportation is as good as it gets. The bus stop is right outside along with a café Nero across the street in the substation is a 30 second walk. Unlike other peoples experiences our air condition works fine even though it did drip a little bit of condensation but that wasn’t a problem. Cons: We stayed four nights and not a single person came to empty garbage change towels or even ask if we needed any of that. I completely expect that from a hostile but not a hotel where you’re paying over 100 pounds an evening. Could not in any way shape or form get the coffee machine to work. Advertised a king size bed but it was a queen size bed. Super odd experience where a chef came upstairs and literally opened our door and walked in without knocking. He said he was just checking to make sure things were OK and was looking for a way to change bills. He seemed nice but I’ve never had a situation like that ever happened before. Like I said I know they were transitioning but I feel like given their lack of any type of care that they would’ve given us those rooms for 50% off and charged us more like a hostel given that was the level of care.

My husband and I stayed here the first weekend of August during a 14-day trip to England and Italy. Our experience at The KPH was mixed; indeed, the below comes from the emailed feedback I gave to the inn directly following its request. Curiously, I received no response to my email. Although the original score was 3.5, I rounded down following the inn's non-response (plus, only 3 and 4 are options). Pros: Centrally located, near the Underground, in a bustling area. Cool experience being part of the pub. The rooms were chic and well-appointed. The staff was very kind and helpful. The food at the pub was good, too! The self-service area in the inn portion was also convenient. Cons: I felt a little misled realizing the differences between the advertised amenities and the reality. Although the website states “King size beds” and “air conditioning,” neither was true. In particular, the air conditioning was a major disappointment. Ours seemed to only blow lukewarm air despite being set to 16 degrees C. When I raised this issue with the staff, it was acknowledged that this was apparently an ongoing problem. We were initially offered a fan as an accommodation, only to find out that the (apparent?) one fan of the hotel was already in use. The hotel needs to fix the AC, invest in more fans, or remove the AC from its list of amenities. There being no AC, we had to leave the windows open all night; accordingly, our sleep was less than ideal given the London street noise. As to the bed size, perhaps a “King size bed” means something different in the US. The bed was definitely a US queen. If traveling with larger-sized people (as my husband and I are), this detail is important. There was also an issue with the Nespresso machine. Neither I nor the barmaid could get it to function, even after swapping a machine from a different room. The barmaid provided us with lattes from the bar; however, the broken Nespresso added to the feeling that perhaps a little bit of investment needs to be made to the hotel itself (a la, the broke AC). On balance, it was an acceptable stay, but not one that I would “write home about.” In fact, of the 6 places we stayed, this inn ranked at the bottom.

We loved this hotel! The location is excellent right next to Ladbroke Grove station which you can then easily get into central London. The room is immaculately clean and all new. Massive fluffy towels that you rarely get anywhere. You can access in the hall a fridge for milk, water and free fruit. The shower was lovely and a comfy bed with plenty of cushions. Coffee machine in your room. The room is plenty big enough for two. You are above a lovely pub that serves meals. We didn’t try the food as we were going to see Coldplay and in a bit of a rush but we will definitely stay here again so will try next time. After finding this place I’m not sure you would stay anywhere else in London it’s perfect including the very reasonable price!

Where to start? Our recent stay here was terrible from start to finish! We originally booked to stay here for three nights but ended up checking out after one night and finding another hotel - this was by far our worst ever stay in London. We arrived at the hotel to check in, to find our room was extremely hot, with no airflow or air conditioning. As we were travelling during the recent heatwave we specifically checked facilities prior to travel to ensure this hotel had air conditioning, as advertised. When we arrived our room was showing 29 degrees! We attempted to start the air conditioning unit, but after 30-40 minutes this still wasn't bringing the room temperature down. We left the air conditioning unit on while we went out for the evening and were reassured by staff that our room would be cool on our return once the air conditioning unit had a chance to run for a while. We then decided to have dinner in the bar, which again was such a poor experience. We ordered two beers, which came in dirty, unclean glasses which tasted like dishwasher salts. it was clear that the glasses hadn't been thoroughly cleaned for quite a while. We then ordered 2 burgers, a beef burger and a chicken burger, unfortunately the chicken burger was just inedible, so bad that my boyfriend actually spat this out on taking a bite. The chicken, smelled like fish and looked grey around the edges. It looked and tasted off which was extremely concerning, so we had to send this back. We then asked to pay the bill which came to £27 pounds, but were over charged by £20 by a staff member, which we then had to request a refund for. We headed out for the evening, and returned to our room 5 hours later only to be hit by a wave of heat when we entered our room at 11pm at night! After running our air conditioning unit for 6 hours our room was still showing 29 degrees on the control panel. We opened the room window in an attempt to cool the room, with the intention of asking to switch rooms the following morning. We then headed to bed only to discover that the bed sheets and pillows were filthy! The pillows and bed sheets had make up, loads of hairs and blood on them!! We then complained to the staff on site about the bedding and temperature of the room, and they offered us another available room. My boyfriend checked out this room to find it was also extremely hot and the bedding here was disgusting too. We asked for clean bedding, which we were handed to change the bed ourselves. We then had the most uncomfortable nights sleep, waking up several times due to the heat. The next morning we requested to check out early and to have our money back for the second and third nights stay. We had to wait until 11am until someone arrived on site to speak to about the stay, but when we did get to speak to a member of staff the manager here agreed to refund our entire stay which we appreciated as we really begrudged paying for the first nights stay due to the conditions. I wouldn't recom

We loved our stay at the KPH in Notting Hill, nice and clean rooms (not big but everything we needed was there), great location near Portobello Road and the Underground, friendly staff. Above a great pub. Highly recommended!

The KPH Hotel is the perfect Hotel to start their daily Sightseeing Trip. It's above a very nice pub, with a private entrance provided for the hotel guests. The next tube station is 1 min away and it' s a few min. walk to Notting Hill & Portobello Road Market. The room was great with a comfortable King Size bed, digital radio, air conditioning, lovely walk-in shower and everyday free cold water, coffee, tea and muffins. I was greeted in a very friendly way on my arrival and made to feel very welcome when engaging with the staff during our stay. Would definitely stay again and could highly recommend it.

Booked the hotel based on other reviews as we knew nothing about it or the area, but it's a great hotel, above an equally great pub, with a private entrance provided for the hotel guests. We had a two night stay, the room was fabulous, comfy bed, digital radio, nespresso coffee, air conditioning, (it was the hottest day when we stayed) lovely walk-in shower and high quality fittings that actually worked, giving us a really contented sleep and comfortable stay. Note the room wasn't serviced, not sure if this was COVID related but for a short stay, we forgive this as the hotel and stay was superb and we would stay again. We were greeted in a very friendly way on our evening arrival and made to feel very welcome when engaging with the staff during our stay. The area is perfect for the tube, food and drink, and local attractions such as Portobello market. Would definitely stay again.

Two dear friends, my husband and I booked the hotel for a weekend trip. We found the location just right. From here you can quickly reach everything in London by metro and bus. We were very satisfied with the hotel. It is true that there was no service on the weekend and also the towels were not changed during this time. But we had enough towels. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay very much. There was free, coffee, water, fruit and small pastries. In the associated pub you can eat well and also like to end the day with a beer. We would book this hotel again at any time.
