Thank you to the entire Capella Lodge team for a truly outstanding stay. Our time at the lodge was perfect from beginning to end, with nature and the backdrop of Mount Gower taking center stage. The service was flawless at every touchpoint, and the team were friendly and helpful without being overbearing. The lodge embraces ‘barefoot luxury’ in a premium and authentic way, which made everyone feel totally at home and relaxed. We also loved being on the quieter side of the island, as the remote swim spots offered peacefulness and beaches all to ourselves. The food was also a highlight - especially the degustation with paired wines on our second night, which was exceptional. I will be recommending it to all of my family and friends as the ideal place for a celebration or spontaneous trip. Thank you again for such a memorable and flawless stay.

A spectacular location for our holiday stay with two teen. The location, dining, and hospitality team at the Capella represent the best Australia has to offer. Lord Howe itself was like stepping back in time to a place with the only decisions needing to be made are what peaceful, beautiful thing to do that day. We hiked the crest of the island, saw more coral and fish than I've seen anywhere else, and cruised the island on electric bikes by breweries, beaches, and the historic little town that seems to hold many stories. Wish I had gone to their museum the first day to get the lay of the land and understand the history more, but other than that I can't think of a thing we would change. It would be an equally magical spot for a couple alone. With this much space and beauty there's a spot for everyone. One of our best family trips ever.

An outstanding few days . Lord Howe is such a delight to visit and capella just adds to the experience . Situated just out of town But it’s easily accessible either by a Capella drive or a bike and yes e bikes are there ! It’s a beautiful spot and the rooms are very comfortable with a great hot tub The food is outstanding but the real plus was the sensational service from every staff member they really are a great team

Don’t go here unless you have time and money to waste. Day one of holiday – flight couldn’t land because of weather, flew around for a while, then went to Port Macquarie to refuel. After 2 hours in the airport we were then flown back to Sydney – 10 hours going nowhere! We were fortunate that we could fly again the next day – we were told it can take 3 or 4 days to get there. I spent the whole weekend worried about whether we would get on the plane to go back to work, which was not very relaxing. My fears turned into reality when we turned up to the airport for the return flight and we were told as there was no wind that not all the passengers may be able to fly home as it was a weight restricted flight. We were then weighed with our bags and then told there was good news and bad the news – the good news is that everyone could get on the plane, but we would not be taking our luggage with us. Our luggage was delivered over 2 days later (and someone had to be at home to accept it, which was very inconvenient). We are still arguing with the insurance company weeks later about getting the money back for the unused night of accommodation. Yes the island is beautiful and accommodation and food were excellent but the wine was very average. So, in summary if you are looking for a relaxing long weekend just go somewhere else, such as Qualia or Wolgan Valley – it will better at half the price, without all the hassles of travel.

We had 5 wonderful nights in lated December. Only 9 suites........so it has an intimate feel. All the staff were fantastic. Food was excellent - especially the Asian options. Try to be there for the Asia night on Thursdays. Location is perfect...........away from the noisy end of the island. A short walk to the very good golf course. Best premium option on the island. We will return.

The Ballie Lodges network of boutique hotels sets itself a high and unwavering standard. As returning guests, we’re delighted to say that Capella Lodge continues to uphold this tradition without missing a beat. We spent four nights and five days at Capella Lodge. Everything was perfect. Our room, the Cataline Suite, was well-appointed. It offered breathtaking views and plenty of privacy. Each day the staff surprised and delighted us with a simple touch that progressively shifted the experience from “as expected” to “exceeding expectations”. Lord Howe Island is a truly magical place. Its scenery and lifestyle are everything its internet images suggest – and then some. Capella Lodge proved the same in equal measure. From the moment Libby collected us from the airport, we felt part of an extended island family – but not in a clinical or automatronic manner that’s all too common in so many upmarket establishments. The lodge is superb. It offers stunning views toward the island's two highest peaks, Mount Gower and Mount Lidgbird. Executive Chef, Dennis Tierney, doesn’t disappoint. The food was consistently good. Breakfast was filled with plenty of tasty options. Dinner was always a memorable dining experience. We also enjoyed lunch one afternoon - the classic lunch menu didn’t skimp on taste, quality, or presentation. By chance, we also arrived on the same day the lodge was hosting its once-a-week degustation menu. Each course was a culinary treat to behold. A few clever presentation techniques we noted have since made their way into our own dinner parties back home. Libby, Mark and Sally really were the perfect hosts. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Each day they offered suggestions for making our stay more memorable – or helped us create another special moment. For example, on our first day, we were offered complimentary use of one of the lodge’s two golf carts. This made it easy to explore the entire island, gain our bearing and plan our favourite places for a more immersive return visit. This included returning to Ned’s Beach for a BBQ picnic. The hotel organized a delicious BBQ pack, complete with cooking tools, meat, seafood and salads, to be delivered to the beach’s pavilion while we climbed Kim’s Lookout. If you've never been to Lord Howe Island - you must go. If you've never tried Ballie Lodges then you must try Capella Lodge. You won't be disappointed.

Well what can I say? Superlative deficit. Superb accommodation nothing missed as you are in the lap of the proverbial complimentary wines of your choice snacks and wonderful teas and coffee in the room. Dining is just a delight, superbly beautiful and delicious meals and again matching wines, a definite high point of the place. Library lots of novels not as many history books but a fair selection of generously illustrated books on the island current newspapers etc. Lifts into town if cycling is out of the question. Lots to see and do. Revisiting some haunts from previous visits. Capella is worth every cent! Happy anniversary Lorraine!!!

Capella Lodge on Lord Howe Island has always been an ultimate dream, bucket list resort for us to get to ‘one day' so after missing a few Birthdays and anniversaries, we stayed at Capella Lodge in October 2022. What a stunning, magical place! We stayed the Lagoon Loft which made the stay extra to indulgent, to be in the hot spa after a big day of walking. Mark, Libby & Sally made us feel so warmly welcomed and at home with the whole team so friendly and helpful. Each morning one of the team would check in at Breakfast on our plans for the day and gave us some recommendations on where to head for the best views. We Loved all the meals, everything was so fresh and the seafood delicious. 5 Stars to Chef & team! The daily cocktails were yummy and the friendly service, especially from Fern and Paul. Lord Howe Island is so spectacular - off the richter, rugged nature immersion, it has been such an incredible, once in a lifetime experience with memories we will cherish for a long time. The snorkelling really surprised us - we weren't expecting the coloured coral and huge variety of fish, we went out with Lord Howe Environmental Tours, our guide was a 6th generation Lord Howe Islander who was very knowledgeable and passionate about the island.
