Gorgeous hotel by the sea! Great views from our room. Clean and spacious! All the staff were so welcoming throughout our stay. Chania was bus ride away! Although we weren't central to the busier area. It was perfect for us. Definitely want to return. Starvos you are a gem. Your staff are amazing and a credit to the family hotel you have created!

Hidden Jewel, loved it. In a nutshell: • The whole hotel, room included, was extremely clean and in excellent condition. I mistakenly thought the hotel is new, it’s in such good condition. • Staff were very attentive, polite and very friendly. Stavros the manager is our new best friend :) • Food is excellent. I understand products are locally sourced and there’s plenty of choice each day. Quality food and (if you want it) quantity. • The pool areas (2 pools) are clean and in like-new condition. • Beach approx. 10 metres in front of the hotel. Stony beach with great views. • Bus stop 400m from the hotel with easy connections to Platanias (10 minute journey), Chania (30 minute journey) etc. Hotel to Chania centre cost us 2.30€ each one way. • Entertainment a few nights a week. I could go on, but in brief I highly recommend this hotel. Thanks to Stavros and your staff for making us feel so welcome, you did a great job.

Just returned from a fabulous 10 day holiday at Maleme Mare Hotel, we arrived after midnight and was taken straight to our room where we was given a box with sandwiches and fruit, really thoughtful. Our room was on the 1st floor which looked over the well kept gardens. The room was spotlessly clean and modern with a large bed, sofa fridge and tv, very efficient air conditioning and high pressure shower. There is a circular window which was letting light in but we soon rectified that by putting our suitcase in front of it. Slept well every night - no music disturbance. The hotel has 2 beautiful pool areas both with plenty of luxury sun loungers. The food was very good and we always had clean plates - lovely selection of bread, cereal, cooked items, fruits, yogurt etc for breakfast, if anything a better quality orange juice would have been appreciated. Lunch and dinner were also a good standard again with a good choice, always clean plates from us. Every staff member from the gardeners, housekeepers, chefs, bar and restaurant staff were always very welcoming and friendly. The owner Stavros is a proper character who loves to laugh and sing. Our stay was enhanced by the gorgeous friendly cats that would come and laze on our sun beds each day. Showers, towels and bag storage area available to use free of charge on your last day. Only a 5 minute walk to the main road where there is a regular bus service in to Chania. We loved every minute and will enjoy our Raki thinking of you all. Thank you

The staff is extremely nice and friendly, it feels like you come to visit your friends. It is a family run hotel, the area is quiet, which is very important for us, since we don't like the too touristic and overcrowded places. Food is delicious, all inclusive service has high quality. We had our 3rd holiday there, and will come back for sure.

We have been to Maleme for 5 years and always gone self catering as it’s so cheap to eat out and buy your food at local shops but decided on a change as we’d walked past this hotel many times. We were greeted by the fabulous Stavros and immediately felt welcome. We were given a lunch box as we’d missed dinner and had a few drinks at the bar with Sasha then off to bed. We had the only front seat facing room they have and it was stunning! The room was huge and spotlessly clean. Beds were sooo comfortable and we always slept well. Both pools had plenty of sunbeds with lovely thick mattresses on and never struggled to get one. Food was always good and plentiful we never struggled to get something. What can I say about the staff other than how amazing they all are and how hard they work. Everywhere was immaculately clean and cleaners were always busy. Only a few small things to note, there is no adult only pool which is a shame as it does get a bit noisy and the all inclusive drinks times could be longer but they’re just my opinion. Stavros you and your staff are wonderful and we cannot wait to return 💙💙

Just come back from a week long break at the Maleme Mare hotel in Crete . From the moment we arrived we were looked after by the hotel manager and staff . Because of missing the initial outbound flight we arrived a day later and close to midnight. We were greeted with 4 packed lunches in case we needed a bite to eat or drink k . Our eldest was slightly ill with a bug and the staff offered to go out and get medicine to help her feel better . Nothing has been too much trouble for the entire staff . From the cooks to the cleaners & the bar staff, they always have time for you. The room we stayed in was very comfortable and freshly renovated to a good standard. The all inclusive restaurant offered a varied choice of freshly prepared food . We were also a stones throw from the beach which is pebble but only a short walk away from sand. We sampled a couple of restaurants nearby which were also very nice The pools were just perfect for both adults & kids too. . Overall would definitely recommend if you’re after a quiet break.

We were at the hotel in late August and early September. We booked the entire trip through a travel agency. We are satisfied with the choice - the food was very good and varied, the room we got was renovated and had a view of the sea and pool, as for cleanliness, the ladies threw away the trash every day, changed towels and sheets, we were also satisfied. Only the floors were quite dirty. The staff was exceptionally nice, friendly and very helpful. The only bear for us was that in the all inclusive some alcohols were from 18:30 to 22:30 which is quite short. The hotel itself is located in a beautiful place- by the very beach where there are very few people. Nearby is a large grocery store, a couple of restaurants, a bus stop and a pharmacy. It is also possible to rent a car (which I personally recommend to do, because the popular places are quite far away). The hotel has two sizable pools around which there are free sunbeds. This is rather a hotel for people who appreciate peace and quiet, because the attractions are very poor - there are no animations, and attractions are only in the evenings three times a week. Also for families with children I would rather not recommend this place. In summary, the vacation was very successful - I recommend this place.

Good location with friendly staff, Stavros was really helpful and friendly. The hotel was clean and well maintained. However it is a smaller hotel so the food selection after 2 weeks, meant we went out for dinner for a change. It's a relaxing hotel with only 1 bar that only offers wine or bear untill about 7pm untill 10.30pm.

Mixed feelings about this hotel, but I've given it 3 stars because the time spent with the family was a lovely one. We usually like a little bit of comfort when we go away, and unless necessary, don't do all inclusive because we love good food and nice restaurants/bistros to return to or explore. We went with my daughter, son in law and 2 granddaughters, they are not bothered about great food, so long as they get fed, or where they eat as long as it's clean. We are not comparing this to the luxury market, we knew what it was when we booked, so have tried to give an experienced based review . What we loved The welcome we had upon arrival. Some of the staff were really friendly The quiet location close to the beach The pool area was great for the kids It was clean The chocolate cake you get with breakfast which morphs into "brownies" by the coffee machine during the day, and topped with a ganache by night for dessert. The bread The fresh fruit The Aircon in our room was efficient and as it was so hot outside, and in the public areas indoors, a welcome relief from the heat. What we thought was ok The pool area for us adults, comfy sunbeds and plenty for everyone if a little close together The Greek salad The rooms were ok. Basic, but ok. What we disliked The food. In general wasn't good. We know hotels recycle leftovers, but the majority of dishes seemed to be different versions of what we had for lunch, or just a sauce poured over meat we had for lunch. Baked beans on our last day literally swimming in olive oil. Desserts were chocolate mousse, jelly (usually not set) a moussy type toffee or chocolate pie. Same every day for lunch and dinner. The unbearable heat in the "restaurant" made for really uncomfortable, rushed meal times. The restaurant was more like a canteen. No frills, no ambience in the evening. Every morning there'd be a queue waiting for cups for beverages, and glasses for cold drinks. They seem to have insufficient supplies for breakfast. We ate out twice just to get more food options and away from the uncomfortable environment. The kids were looking forward to having ice-cream on tap as an all inclusive. This was served between 5&9 only. The bar closed at 10.30 The wine wasn't great at all, the beer every lunchtime from canteen, undrinkable. The bar area was also very hot with no aircon in the enclosed areas to give an option of moving out of the heat. Old, broken inflatables left behind were just left in or around the pool for most of the week. If you want a budget holiday in a good quiet location that is clean, and are not bothered about food too much, a hot canteen style setting and not having romantic evenings, this could be ok. We did have a lovely family holiday. But if you are wanting some great food to eat in comfy ambient surroundings, you'll be disappointed. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel, but it is somewhere you can have a great family holiday, just go self catering so you can eat out.
